The message on the voicemail is not professional. I thought it was someone's residence, and the voice mailbox was full. I decided to just go and check it out. I discovered after I arrived that the owner had just passed away. There was a wait because the woman working at the counter (I believe it is the late owner's wife) didn't know what she was doing. I hope she is going to sell the business because she was stressed out and unprepared. Unfortunately, the store was out of 1/2 the items I needed for my class. I was about to pay for the few items they had and I told the woman that I was happy that students were offered the discount. The woman replied "No. My husband didn't do that". I calmly said that I was disappointed and would go somewhere else. She snidely remarked that that the discount would have only been around $3, so why didn't her business pick it up? I decided to buy the items. After she rang up my credit card she wasn't able to provide a receipt because the tape ran out. She didn't know where the tape was and said that I would have to wait for her staff member to replace it because he was with a customer. I told her I had to go so I wanted her to reverse the charges. She told me that I needed to calm down! No potential customer should have to deal with that kind of abuse. Posner's Art Store is so much better. Two people welcomed me. The store has a kit with everything I needed and I was out within 5 minutes!

However the ambience is very... strange and extremely uncomfortable. I do dress alternatively, in a gothic style, but more often I dress in a scenemo/emo style. Which I love about myself, however everytime I go inside, I feel stared at by everyone and I feel extremely anxious, nauseous and scared for my safety. I don't believe anything will happen, it's mainly a staring issue and very uncomfortable to have to ask for any help. Once I had to get my husband to walk in for me and he told me the service ruined his day- apparently he had to ask for the manager because the employee he asked "didn't know anything". The manager apparently was also no help, because she was rude and very passive aggressive. Maybe she was just having a bad day- but that is not acceptable to take it out on a stranger, let alone someone who is trying to spend money at your place of employment?

I decided to check out the store, while waiting for an appointment down the street. I was really surprised they put out fall things and it seemed like a third of the store had been cleared away and recently well stocked with fall colors, pumpkin themed objects for the kitchen and for parties. I don't go they're all that often, but it seemed like there was either Christmas or fall things and anything for the summer was nearly gone. There were 2-3 aisles of picked over summer things on clearance for 66% off and all the fall things that look like they just put it out. It's quite overwhelming every time I go to Hobby Lobby. There is just so much to see. I find myself having a hard time, figuring out where things are and customers line up to check out. I didn't really see any staff walking around the store to help. I did pick up some craft thing items that I think that they carry all the time however, after a few minutes, I just wanted to get out of the store and I skedaddled. It did appear that almost everything in the store was discounted significantly, so nothing was the price on the package. It does make one feel like they're getting a deal.

We are newbies, so we needed the extra instruction. Others in the class were all so friendly, too. This little shop is in a small shopping center and nothing fancy, but has everything you need. Our seats were all set up for us with the necessary tools. Once you get started, you actually get the hang of it. There are plenty of samples to follow. We will definitely return and tell others about how much fun and stress-relieving it is!
