The trail was super easy, I had no idea what I wanted but the walked me through what would work with my eye shape and coloring. My mother was super high maintenance, she showed up late the assistant stayed despite the fact that they had another wedding to start working on. All of my bridesmaids are the type that wear next to no make up, yet they were thrilled about the way they looked one of them even said "maybe I should wear make up more often." She even worked with my special request of needing rainbow eyeliner, that is not her normal she likes to make people look very very natural. They showed up on time, ready to go, and worked very fluidly with our hairstylist who was from a different salon. Exquisite Faces did the hair and makeup for my wedding on September 5, 2010. Vy does the makeup and her mom does the hair. They did a wonderful job on the wedding day, it was perfect. They showed up on time, and we were actually ahead of schedule and finished early. I thought the trial went well, but they really outdid themselves on the wedding day - I have never felt so beautiful! The hair and makeup lasted really well, too - at one point during the outdoor ceremony, I had beads of sweat dripping down my back (gross, I know but it was almost 90 degrees out) and my airbrush makeup remained flawless. My hair stayed put all night too!! Vy also did my mom and the MOB's makeup and they looked stunning. We had Vy's mom do all my bridesmaids' hair and they were happy too (though some of the girls that did their hair half-up said it was falling by the end of the night - I think that also has to do with half-up hair on a 90 degree day). She even showed me her own wedding photos. 2) During the trial, they both work with the ideas that you have, but they also know their stuff-- ie she knows how dark to make the makeup for wedding photos and how to work with Asian eyes. I contacted Vy through reviews on Yelp. My wedding was Sept. 17th, 2011. I had my trial session about a month and half before my wedding. I sent Vy a few pictures of what I wanted in make up/hair. When I got to the salon she was very welcoming and just super nice. However, the only thing I have to say was that I think she got me confused with another bride in respect to the pictures I had sent her. But I told her what it was that I wanted and she picked up on my ideas. I had never had professional make up and hair done before in my life, so it took me a while to get used to seeing myself with air brush foundation, the eye lashes, etc. I mean, it looked very natural and my then fiance LOVED IT!!!!!!! We actually went out that night for dinner ;-) So to me, if he loved the way I looked then I would go with the service from Vy. When Vy emailed me about hiring her for the wedding, I did mention that I thought the eye liner on my lower eyes did look a bit too much to me, so she said she would work to modify what she did on the trial date so that I would be comfortable. My wedding was to start at 4pm for the pre-wedding pictures and Vy had another wedding to go to at 1:30p (if I remember correctly), so she said she would be at the hotel at 10am. At first I wondered if that was too early. She would also do hair/make up for my maid of honor, one brides maid, and my mom. Well, she knows what she's doing because from 10am to 1p Vy and her two assistants worked on all four of us and it was just the right amount of time. Our wedding was at Murrieta's Well, a winery, and I was afraid that my make up would run or something, but just like Vy said, my make up stayed on all day and all night. Except for reapplying my lip gloss, I did not need any retouching on the make up. And it was great because I have rosacea (redding of the skin and a little bumps on one cheek) and my skin looked flawless!!!!! It was awesome!! I also agree with another reviewer that she has great conversation and makes you feel at ease and it's a fun time...it takes the edge off from what can be a nervous filled pre-wedding feeling. I was pretty nervous that morning but we were laughing and people at my wedding complimented me on how great I looked, so I would totally recommend Vy's services!! As soon as I saw her website I wanted to book a trial with her since she was local and we were getting married in Livermore at Wente Vineyards. Within a few weeks of our email conversation, I was able to book a trial with her. The trial came out very lovely and I was very happy with it. I had never done airbrushing and it was very light. I was really surprised. My wedding party had gone down with one person, due to my matron of honor bailing out a month before our preparations. Vy understood that these things happen and that there was no change to the agreement, it would just be one less person. The day of, she came to our room at our hotel at 5AM with two of her staff. I booked a hair/makeup trial in december and really liked both hair and makeup. Vy took pictures of the hair/makeup trial and emailed them to me. I liked how I looked in the pics but wanted to make slight changes to my eye makeup and the front of my hair. I emailed Vy with the changes and she said it would not be a problem. So I decided to book Vy for my wedding day. She and her team also did my mom and sister's hair/makeup. She was on time and very nice and professional. I chose to go with the airbrush makeup and I would suggest all brides do the same. It definitely has the kind of staying power you need for your wedding day. It also photographs really well. One thing you do have to be carefull of is crying. Make sure you have powder to fix any makeup crying may take off. Overall I was happy with my makeup as well as the makeup for my mom and sister. But as far as my hair was concerned, it was not at all what I wanted, especially the front. The back was nice but the front and the top was not at all what I hoped for. The top and sides were not smoothe and did not look as "clean" as it looked in the trial. I wanted a more vintage look for the front and I just don't think she knew how to create this look. My bangs were a mess and she tried to fix them but she had already curled them so it was difficult to get them smooth. Anyhow, I didn't end up with the look I wanted. My suggestion would be to figure out a look and stick to that same exact look, no changes. Make sure you reference the trial picture on the wedding day, just to make sure! I was very happy with my sisters hair. My sister was a little nervous because she has really curly hair but it ended up looking great, even better than mine. So my suggestion is to make sure she can create the style you are looking for, especially if it is more vintage or specific look other than your standard wedding hair. read more

I was looking for hair and makeup for my wedding, and I found Vy on Yelp. I sent her an email which she responded to very quickly and I had my trial date set up with her right away. I met her at her mother's beauty salon, and had my hair and makeup done. Loved what she did, so I booked her. She quickly responded to all emails I sent up until the wedding day, offering her opinion on all the flower hair clips I showed her. She showed up on time on the day of my wedding and had my hair and makeup done in 1.5 hours. She showed my maid of honor how to put my veil in. She is the sweetest girl and is very easy to talk to.
