Stayed here at the a Itasca location for about a week. The first room I was placed in the refrigerator leaked all over the kitchen floor. I requested s new room. The second room (4 rooms down the hall from the first room) I had just woke up and was laying in the bed when I thought I'd seen something move out the corner of my eye. Taking a second look.....found a cockroach crawling across my sheets as I laid in bed. Totally grossed out jumped up out of the bed and killed the cockroach on the bed. Let the office know and showed them a picture I took of the cockroach.....they were going to put me in another room on other side of hotel.....that does not eliminate a bug/cockroach problem. I called Priceline and told them what was going on and got a refund for that week. I left and ended up renting a room at the holiday inn express got cheaper and nicer room. read more

Ok. The price here is good. Room not clean. Phone grimy. Windowsill grimier. I'm a seasoned traveler, and I don't go anywhere without handy wipes, and I use them in every hotel room and airplane area ever. Before I even take off my coat. So I was ready with my handy wipes. Its just that they don't usually get so visibly dirty. Here they did, on the phone and windowsill. After that I wiped down every surface in the room, usually I just do the phone, remote, restroom area and light switches. Today I took my time and was pretty thorough. But it was a huge room. These are the hotels with a sort of kitchen in them. Pretty nice actually if you plan to stay a while. The fridge is a large one, which is a terrific amenity if you use it. They even provide a cookbook of sorts, which is a very nice touch. But then I found more issues. Lights not plugged in. Cup appeared dirty in cabinet. The extra lock on the door was missing one half of it. Safty anyone? And then my room was moved. To be clear, the man at the desk both when I checked in and when I called down sometime later (more on that below) may be the nicest guy ever, so this is not related to him in any way, unless, I suppose he's the owner of the Extended Stay America Brand, which, presumably, he's not, since he works here. I had been in the room for quite some time, and had actually unpacked and repacked my various bags, since there was so much room in the room to get organized in. I did not think I'd be moving. And then the smoke came in. Not just cigarette smoke. And it was thick. Really think. I did not want to smell like smoke and did not want my luggage to either. So I called down and asked what could be done, and he more or less felt that I would need to move off the floor as the whole floor smelled and it was coming from the vents. So I got "upgraded" he told me as he was helping me move. Totally different floor and wing of the hotel. Bigger bed and a nice reclining chair in the room. Otherwise, its the same idea and layout, just more space. Which is great, and I would totally stay in one of the these hotels for longer than one night. Id make sure it was a non smoking facility though. This room was cleaner, to be transparent. Much actually. And the lock was not broken. And there were no utensils missing in the kitchen cabinets (which I realized was the case in the other room once I saw the second one). Smoking allowed here. Illinois really needs to get with it and make hotels, bars and restaurants etc non smoking. Its so unhealthy for everyone, but us non smokers are forced to be subjected to the smokers decision to be unhealthy. Not really fair, is it? Good beds. Good parking. Easy check-in. Many restaurants in the area, skip the Wendys in front of the hotel and drive a block or two (long blocks, you need to drive) to a large choice of places. Im giving 2 stars because the desk clerk was so nice and pleasant. read more

My husband and I stayed here for a little getaway. The staff is wonderful. Sherri, she put us in room 231, but the air did not work and it was warm that day, the maintenance man was not on duty, so she just moved us to room 241, where the air was ice cold. We wanted snacks and water, but neither of the the vending machines were working, so we had to drive to 7-Eleven, which was about 2 minutes away. Since when do you have to ask for the pots and pans and cooking utensils? They use to have them in the room waiting to be uses, but apparently not anymore. read more

I'm at a loss for words. Where do I begin? Do I start with the terrible sewage-like smell that runs all throughout the corridor where my room is? Can I mention the fact that my allergies are beginning to inflame on account of all the dust, pet, and smoke residue in my room? Or the fact the the free "breakfast" is an empty vat of hot water to make imaginary oatmeal and an assortment of granola bars ? I don't know where to begin, but I will end with the fact that my room was not clean. And by not clean I mean: Used toilet tissue still in the toilet, a dirty fridge and debris ( like an empty cigarette package) on the floor; THAT kind of "not clean". The mysteriously pervasive and acrid smell of sewage gas that I encountered in the corridor, was the same smell that laid stagnant in my room with no visible source, and no means of combating it aside from running the AC. I've never written a bad review until now. But people, please be warned about what's out there. My room was paid for by some friends of mine, but I honestly think that they were overcharged, the room wasn't worth the money they paid for it. If your out there in the Chicago area, and your considering booking THIS hotel. Don't do it! Keep scrolling down my friend. Find a place that's worth your peace of mind. read more

Okay let me start off by saying the price for our room with a kitchenette was pretty cheap. But I must say that is the only good thing I experienced. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and let me start off by staying every night was stressful. When we arrived Saturday I went to the front desk to check in. There was a man at the desk and asked to help me. I told him that I had a reservation.(booked 2 months ago) He saw my reservation and asked for my credit card, I told him it was already paid for and he kept searching and searching and "finally" found it. Now granite I am in the Chicago area for a hip surgery and I figured they would have given me a close room since I told them I was handicap. WRONG! He gave me a room on the 2nd floor at the very end of the hallway. Now let me just say I was willing to just bite the bullet. But when we got up in our room he had given me a room with 2 double size beds. Now as bad as I didn't want to go back down stairs and ream him I had to. My husband is 6'4 and I have to have plenty of room for my hips. So as you can guess I went back down and showed him my reservation that stated I booked a room for 1 queen size bed. His response was "I am out of queen size rooms" I told him I made this reservation in May and It is now July. He said in a snobby tone "your room is an upgrade" I told him I didn't want an upgrade I wanted the room I made a reservation for (also I don't wanna sleep in a separate bed as my husband.)He told me he didn't have any more queen size rooms available. I didn't say anything I just stood there, I think he expected me to be okay with this and go back to my room. But as you can probably tell I was not happy. Then he said "have you touched anything?! I mean anything even the sink?!?!" I was shocked at how he was speaking to me.Then finally he said "Oh 101 hasn't checked in yet I can put you there!" As if he had had some sort of an epiphany. So we agreed and went and got our luggage and went to 101. Now one of the first things we noticed is that the hallways have no air conditioning they are very hot and muggy. Entering the room we noticed the counter top was coming unsealed, which in my opinion was tacky also, the refrigerator was leaking water onto the floor. Next thing we noticed was that the restroom had hair EVERYWHERE, in the tub, in our sink, in our towels and in our bedding. I was so discussed I had to clean the tub in order to bath. We where very pleases to have a kitchenette but, we did not have not one dish! We didn't have a cup, napkins, or silverware. We were very disappointed as we could not even use the kitchen expect the microwave. Also you would expect our room to have shampoo,lotion,soap,or face wash. All we received was a small bar soap. We booked this out of the city and wanted to cook for ourselves to make a better time away from home, but as you can probably tell it wasn't nice. read more

I'll keep this simple. Is this the worst place I've ever stayed? No. Is this place terrible? Yes. Front desk service was spotty and they were not available when I needed to check out at 6:45am. The place smelt like an ashtray. The hot water stopped working on day two. I felt like I was going to get mugged every time I came back from dinner. Half the lights in my room were burnt out. Let me preface this by saying we got a great rate by booking through a third party. That being said, for the value we paid, this was a very "fine" hotel. We found our 3rd floor room to be clean and spacious and the morning "grab and go" breakfast had small muffins and coffee, so we were happy with that. The front desk was nice, though not particularly chatty. That's pretty much where the good things end, but again, for the value we paid, it was a good alternative to an Uber ride back into the city. Unfortunately, we found our room to be LOUD from outside noise (although, no hallway noise to speak of) and were woken up twice during the night. We found the bed to be horribly uncomfortable and both woke up with a stiff back, but I know that can be subjective. The "backsplash" on the kitchen was falling off, but we didn't use that area on our one-night stay, so it didn't bother me much. And the bathroom literally has a bar of soap and the tiniest shampoo ever, so no frills. So, all that being said, would I stay again? If we got the same price, yes. Again, this is not a fancy place. But it has the basics and serves as a good place to sleep for one night. Just have your expectations ready! read more

I just relocated here and my company out me here for 2 weeks on them. So I can't review the price. But it is good. The facilities are decent enough. Laundry with vending machines on the first floor. Ample parking, with Wendy's next door and a 7-11 just up the street. There isn't much in the immediate area but access to the Elgin-O' Hare Expressway. They so allow pets and smokers so beware if that is a sensitivity for you. read more

Well you get what you pay for. We got a super cheap rate but other than that this place sucks. I have been staying in hotels for 20 years and this was the first time I had to request shampoo, towels, and cups and oh yeah!!!! I was lucky enough to walk to the desk to get it. Smells like garbage and the domestic violence incident with a good looking hooker somehow involved was pretty exciting. Never again. The best part about this hotel was leaving. Ended up booking here through booking.com last minute after our flight was delayed and we were too tired to fly home. The hotel was mostly fine. It was outdated and worn but basically clean. Except for the next morning when I took a shower I noticed the shower curtain had a a stain that looked a lot like blood. I let the front desk know and they said they'd take care of it for the next guest. No apology or anything. Didn't even seem surprised. There was also hair on the shower walls which were definitely not mine as I am completely bald. So that was gross. And their breakfast is just coffee and packaged muffins although I didn't get to try them as they wheeled them into the back room when I was walking up. So I wouldn't go out of your way to stay here but you it did have a bed and a shower so good enough I suppose. read more

ZERO stars, let me repeat ZERO stars!!! This place smells terribly from the inside out or the outside in, you choose. Supposed to be a "SMOKE FREE" hotel, they even post signs. However, they DO NOT enforce their own grilles. State laws, ah they could careless. I do not know who is more rude Amy or Valerie. According to the manager, another joke Angela she wants to be informed if people are smoking in the building and in front of the doors. However, upon informing John, Amy, or Valerie they claim there is NOTHING they can do. Seriously? Within your own "SMOKE FREE" hotel you can say and do nothing? Ha!!!! If they do mosey on down the hall to see the smoker and say something they claim oh no there was no one smoking. Ah, here are pics I took. Does this look like no one is smoking??? Filthy, smelly, smokey, hotel with the rudest staff ever. As your driving down the street looking for a hotel be sure to pass this one up. NOT worth the price. Your hair, clothes will reek of smoke. Completed my stay here without any issues, given there was a loose board on the kitchen wall corner but that didn't bother me. I enjoyed the stove, full size fridge with freezer, large desk space, and windows that open. They provide some kitchen supplies as well upon request which there is a list of the items you can request in the room. The laundry unit was in good condition, $2 for each wash or dryer use with quarters available at the front desk. There is also a machine for laundry soap and dryer sheets which are $1 each for a one time use. Their complimentary "on the go" breakfast is on the table in front of the front desk. No fresh fruits like I've seen in a previous picture, but they offer instant oatmeal packets, snack bars, muffins, coffee, and tea. Wendy's literally in the same parking lot, but they don't have breakfast items. 7-eleven in walking distance which has some random stuff you may need or want during your stay if you don't have a car. Also, there's options for food delivery via Yelp, grubhub, or door dash. Hotel located nearby the top 10 largest shopping mall which is an $8-10 uber ride one way. read more

I've been a paying guest here 2 weeks out of every month for 2 years and today when I arrived at the hotel the front desk had 2 signs saying to go outside and pickup the phone. It rang and rang for 10 mins. Then a gentleman comes out of a room smelling like marijuana and gets behind the desk. I tell him 3rd party later and ask if he needed the info. He declined and after fumbling around for 5 mins he has me sign the registration. I ask him 3 X for the CC info he entered. Finally he says the last 4 digits. They were mine. WRONG. I tell him to fix this and then I have to call my CC company to cancel the charge. He fumbles another 5 mins. He give me a 2 ND flr room but my reservation clearly reads 1st floor room only please. I get a room that near a broken exit door. The room is missing a chair and the bathroom light is dull, the toilet doesn't flush correctly . Less Pot smoking and more caring about doing there job is clearly needed here. read more

Hotel is VERY outdated and smelled so bad. I had to go outside frequently for fresh air. Had a kitchen and a sign saying it should be fully equipped with dishes, utensils, etc. We were not even given a glass or paper cup to get water. Free breakfast is a joke although I appreciate the effort. Price was decent but prolly could have stayed at a motel and it would have been cleaner and a much better experience. I stayed one night at the Itasca location. I got a great rate for a last minute booking but that is where great ended. As I walked to my room the hall reeked of cigarette smoke. Not just from one room. I may have been placed on a smoking floor but it did not smell in my room so I stuck it out. Al lI wanted was a shower. The bathroom had a small bar of soap, no shampoo, conditioner or lotion. These hotels boast of a kitchenette, yet when I opened the fridge it was empty. Not even bottled water which was all I wanted. I would even have paid for it but not an option. At least most hotels have some offering in a mini bar but there was nothing. The bulb was burned out in lamp next to the bed. The final blow was the next morning when I rushed to leave and be on time only to discover the clock in the room was not set for the correct time. They do offer breakfast on a table in lobby which was coffee, oatmeal and blueberry or chocolate muffins. I had always thought this chain was a step above the other budget chains but I was clearly mistaken. The man who checked me in was very nice, but despite a very good rate I would not return. read more

There were a few things that I didn't like while staying at this facility. There were no toiletries, there was an odd number of pillows on the bed. Which meant that I had to sleep with only one pillow and my wife had two. I had called the front desk and nobody had picked up. I tried calling the front desk to see if they could give us more toiletries and they only had shampoo and no conditioner. The lady was very rude and she looked like she had just started her shift as if she had just woke up out of bed. Besides that, the beds are pretty uncomfortable. They are a bit firm in my opinion. in the end, for a hotel that was only $40 for a night, I guess you can't expect too much. read more

So it is true you get what you pay for, however, the way it is posted is deceiving. I stayed here because my family is in transition after selling our house and moving to Texas. The staff was grumpy when I arrived . The next day I needed to ask them a question and the desk clerk decided not to even show up for work that morning. It claims to be newly renovated. A cheap coat of paint does not renovation make. The access doors to the building worked half the time. The vending machines were always out of order. It smelled like cigarette smoke and sadness. It also claims a free breakfast. I expected a continental breakfast since it was an extended stay. Two pre packaged muffins and four granola bars with cold coffee does not count. We are at another Extended Stay America and it is much better. read more

Hello guys, If I had an option to give zero stars I would. Seriously, this was worser than motel and still ended up paying more than an average budget hotel. There is no house keeping service and hardly anyone available at the reception. I stayed three days in the Itasca extended stay, tried talking to house Keeping staff and also few people at the reception to have my room cleaned, but no luck. I even left reminder notes at the reception desk so that they will do something about it. When I asked one of the staff for extra towels, she demanded that I should first bring all the used towels to her. Stay away from this location and also the so-called breakfast buffet that they have at the lobby is awful. I would not recommend this to anyone. read more

This is our favorite hotel in the area for a weekend "getaway". The location is right off of the highway, and it's within a mile of a lot of food places, gas stations, and stores. The check-in process is always quick. The rooms are very spacious and we love that they have a kitchen with a full sized refrigerator/freezer, a stove, and a microwave. There is also a good sized closet with a curtain and a recliner in each room. The rooms are ALWAYS spotless and smell fresh and clean. This has to be the cleanest hotel we've ever stayed at. Not only are the rooms pristine, but the hallways, stairwells, laundry room, etc are all spotless as well. They have multiple washers and dryers which is nice because you can almost always just walk in and use one without having to wait. There are also vending machines in the same room with pop, candy, chips, etc. They also sell razors, shaving cream, toothpaste, Advil, laundry detergent, and dryer sheets which is helpful if you forgot something at home. They have a very small continental breakfast in the morning that consists of coffee, tea, oatmeal, muffins, granola bars, and hot cocoa. We are always 110% satisfied when we stay here. We will definitely recommend to friends and family, and take another "staycation" here in the future. read more

I stayed at the Extended stay in Itasca for 7 weeks while relocating to a new job in the while my wife stayed behind to complete packing and finishing up some personal business where we lived in central Illinois prior to relocating. Except for a "Bates Motel" we got stuck in on our way to the Gulf for our honeymoon decades ago where only 1 light worked in the room and it smelled so bad we had to burn 12 candles over night to be able to stand the smell, the Extended stay was the worst place I've ever stayed in my life. For an hotel built and setup to serve the long term guests (long business trips, relocation etc.), they didn't provide any amenities or facilities to help. It was a room for 2 (at at first my wife came up on weekends, but after the first couple I wanted to go home even if it added a grind to the weekends and a lot of work packing to get away from the smell). The room for two with a kitchenette provided 1 plate, glass, coffee cup, knife, spoon and fork. For the two burner stove it had one old pot with a handle falling off and no pot holders. I had to bring my own dishes just so I could make a lunch and eat something other than microwave food. The bed was a rock and I wound up buying an inflatable bed so I could walk in the mornings and get to my new job. Having spend decades in the western suburbs I thought Itasca would provide someplace decent so I locked into a 6 week deal for the price benefit. There was no benefit as the WiFi was so bad I had to go elsewhere to work after hours, the TV provided 8 stations clearly (was like going back to the 60's) and it was just beat up, smelly and not clean. Housekeeping came each day but the place just needs to be refurbished as only tearing out the carpet and replacing everything from the drywall out would address all the problems. Just go elsewhere. There are other places within a few miles that are slightly more and well worth the extra 10's of dollars a week. read more

The service was horrible, the WiFi is super slow and doesn't allow you to do anything but look at news websites. The shower had absolutely no pressure, it took me 20 minutes to take a shower. The "breakfast" was just crappy granola bars, fruit and muffins thrown in baskets. The fruit looks like it had been there for months, the muffins looked like they had been there for 10 years. If I had paid for this I would have demanded a full refund and left the next day. They are currently doing construction on the first floor so every time you walk to the "lobby" you have to avoid people working to get out the front door, they don't move for you because they hate their lives because they have to be in this building. Stay away from this place, and if your work books this hotel for you, tell them to go to hell and to book you at the Country Inn and Suites. If I could I would give this crapshack -5 stars or more.
