Stayed here twice this summer for weddings, and overall, it's a good place to stay. There are a couple of lakes out back - ask for a room overlooking them. Otherwise, your view will be of the highway. There are paved walking trails around the lakes, so you can get your miles in and stretch your legs. The rooms have refrigerators, but there are no microwaves. They have a few microwaves available upon request, so ask for one when you check in if you are going to need one. This is a great wedding venue, particularly for Indian weddings, but they also host Western/American weddings. They have both indoor and outdoor spaces, so there are options depending on the weather. Be warned that the hotel is designed around an atrium, so if there is a late night wedding reception, you might hear it in your room. The bar can get CRAZY packed late at night after a wedding reception too. On each of our visits, two weddings were happening at the same time, but they managed it well. Overall, it was a great stay - just make sure you are prepared for some noise if you are staying over a weekend. read more

I live right by this hotel and have most of my life. I always thought of the Westin - Itasca as a very nice/upper class hotel. When my AC broke earlier this week, I decided to spend a few nights in a hotel while it got serviced. With the Westin being the closest hotel, I chose it for a little "stay-cation". I checked in later in the day (10pm) and got to my room, which was not really cold. I turned down the thermostat and turned up for the fan speed and nothing got colder. I called the front desk, and they said they would send the maintenance person up. About 10 minutes later, the HVAC man came to my room. He took the unit apart and took out an extremely dirty filter and replaced it with a new one. He told me that was likely the issue, and mentioned that my compressor was cold and working well. But also mentioned that there is only one speed on the AC units in the hotel (low) and the three speeds on the thermostat don't do anything. He left and the AC unit never got any colder. The thermostat said 60°, but I don't believe it ever got below 70°-72°. I called to get my room changed and I was told they were all booked. I stayed for two nights and it was fine. Not really fancy, pretty outdated, and just like many other cheaper hotels in the area. The AC never got colder, if you're someone like me who loves the cold AC of a hotel, this Westin is not for you. read more

Not a four star. Room phone is dead. Room has a musty odor. The closet door surface is bubbling and warped like it was dunked in water. The duvet has holes in it. I thought I was getting a good rate but you get what you pay for. The place was dead when we checked in the late afternoon on a Friday. Check in desk was friendly. Expedia gave this place 8.5 and influenced my stay. Stained carpets. Came back to the room after a few hours and the musky odor was even stronger We will stay another night because we already paid and won't be in the room that much. I had one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had at The Westin Chicago Northwest. The hotel hosted a wedding that remained extremely loud until around 1:30 a.m. As paying hotel guests, we couldn't sleep because of the noise. When I went to the front desk to complain, I was told that nothing could be done because the wedding had paid over $100,000. Paying guests deserve a reasonable opportunity to rest, regardless of how much another event paid. While I was speaking with the front desk, another guest cut in front of me, pushed me, and even threatened to kill me. Instead of investigating what happened or handling both parties equally, the front desk agent, Marius, told me to leave the hotel while allowing the other guest to stay. The police responded, but I was not arrested or charged with any crime. I simply complied with the hotel's request to leave. As an Asian guest, I left feeling that I was treated unfairly. I hope Marriott reviews the security footage and investigates why the guest who threatened me remained at the hotel while I was expelled in the middle of the night. I expect better from a Marriott property. Guests should be able to sleep, feel safe, and be treated fairly. read more

Hotel - staff were friendly and professional, check-in was simple and quick. Appreciated that I was able to check-in early. The room was large, clean and open, which was nice. During the weekend that I stayed, they had a dance competition, thus is was noisy. Additionally, looks like the rooms are going through some renovations, thus you can hear some construction noises, be mindful of that. Hotel is 4 out of 5 stars. 400 Park Bistro - had an opportunity to try their breakfast buffet. The offering was decent, eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, waffles, biscuits, along with toast area, fruits, cereals, drinks etc. They replaced the biscuits with pancakes on the second day. Unfortunately, the pancake, biscuits and waffles were cold. Not sure if they turned on the heater or not, but they shouldn't have served those. I would give 1.5 out of 5 stars for the food from the buffet and I hope it was just one off on those two days that I had it. read more

Overall, a decent hotel outside of Chicago. Stayed here for work and it was ok. The hotel has a free large parking lot, lots of amenities on site (gym, pool, spa, coffee shop/bistro as well as a bar/restaurant), and is very spacious. My room was massive! I really liked how clean it was, but I wish it was a bit brighter inside and slightly more updated. There were also some maintenance issues which are the main reason for my rating: - My shower drain seemed to be partially clogged, but thankfully it still worked. - The A/C wasn't the quietest, and what's more frustrating it wasn't cooling the room very well in 90F July heat. All in all, it was alright - the staff was really friendly and I appreciated the ability to check-in and check out digitally. read more

Visiting for an OSHA conference, this is a pretty spacious hotel with very friendly staff. A bit disappointing on their cold cut buffet lunch, especially seeing that a small tea can run you $5 at their Marketplace stand but their lemon bar dessert was a highlight. read more

Well to start with i had to sign a waiver that if we used our white washcloth for makeup removal and they were stained we would be charged and that black cloths were available upon request. I requested 3 times and we never got them. 2 of the 4 elevators were down the entire weekend! When you are here for a dance event and everyone gets out at the same time, it's a real problem. Got my exercise from the stairs. We had a late check out but our room key didn't work and with the elevators down that was an issue too. The layout of this hotel is huge and in garden style with a clear roof letting in loads of natural sunlight. I stayed here for over a week with my husband who was here for business. During that time I dined at the restaurant 400 Park bistro many times and used their facilities like the pool and gym often. We had a junior suite which was huge offering a dining room table and a living room area. Microwaves are not in every room but can be requested. When we first got here we made the mistake of not requesting quickly and then the weekend came with many wedding guest and other functions and we were out of luck. This is prime business hotel offering a marketplace that sells Starbucks coffee up until 12 pm each day. The restaurant has a limited menu but good options. I ordered a salad with blackened chicken most days. In the evening the bar gets busy and sometime live music is played during the week. The bartender there are pretty solid, I ordered comso's and glasses of champagne the most. I only order desert once while there, a slice of red velvet cake. It was ok not my fave, I wished I would've gotten chocolate instead. There seems to be a lot of weddings hosted here as well. During the weekends it's bustling with activities. From family reunions, wedding parties or workplace events. Behind the building there is a picturesque man made lake with a walking trail and benches. It offers a great view and place to get your steps in. The hotel is very clean. Our room was serviced everyday unless we declined. The gym which is located on the 12th floor is small but has all the necessary equipment. If you want a bigger gym there is one by the pool that cost $15 a day for a pass. I didn't see the need as the one upstairs had everything I needed. The only hang up is the limited drink options they offer at the check in snack area. I assume it may be because the marketplace sells many juice options but I found myself thirsty many nights when the Marketplace is closed. Service was great. Although I told housekeeping that I didn't want my room cleaned and I came back to it being clean was ok. I appreciate the TV apps that were available. The microwave in the lobby snack room had all types of flies in there. My body wash was empty and even when they cleaned my room they did not check it to refill it and there was hair in the shower on the body wash bottle. Other than those things my stay was great. Oh and I was pretty far from Chicago, I would like to be closer to the city as I am a tourist. read more

Fantastic suit on the seventh floor with abundant master bedroom space, sprawling bathroom, lovely shower, nice secondary bed in living room, we found a good mini fridge with frozen section, quality view of the fountains, and easy check-in and elevator up. Only issue was surprisingly loud music blasting from outdoor speakers for a wedding at the Westin's event center. Excellent stay! Super comfortable, spacious, great amenities too! Jacuzzi is clean and huge, as is the pool. Workout areas also included. The beds were very comfortable! We checked in at 6 pm, 15 min before dust bowl thunderstom started on May 16th, 2025. Room 508 faced the freeway. We had no wait at check-in, courtieous, friendly, and self-serve carts available in abundance. This was a complimentary Marriott night, and it did not disappoint! Late check out for 1pm on the house. There was an Indian Wedding Reception in the lobby, with music, many fancy dressed attendees, and it all went smoothly for us. The only critiques I had was only one water in the room, "beverage fridge" was not cold enough. (I had medicines). Next time, I will ask to be placed further away from the a.m. jack hammering. (I realize renovations have to be made to continue to deliver excellent service. read more

This place was a ghost town when we checked in on Monday afternoon. I'd say it is kind of in the middle of nowhere, but it was convenient for our work location and near the airport, but not TOO near the airport. The expected "Westin white tea" fragrance hits you immediately upon entering. The hotel is large and the room was nice, dark at night and also mostly quiet. (The person in the room above apparently decided to jump rope at 3am one day, but that's not the hotel's fault) The food at the hotel restaurant was actually quite good, though it is sad that the restaurants in the shops nearby were pandemic victims, so it is literally the only place to eat without getting in a car. I had no problems with check in, check out or billing and everything in my room worked fine. I didn't use the gym, so I can't comment there. read more

Feral children running into all hours of the night. As long as you don't mind not sleeping, it's cool. These hockey boys (one team from Vegas) were running between floors, on the elevator, knocking wildly on doors and then running away while screaming. I watched a boy plow into an older woman and rather than apologize, he cussed at her. I feel so bad for these boys that their parents have neglected to provide any home training of any kind. They are clueless as to how to act in public. Hotel security came up to make it stop but the boys were indignant and just kept going. Maybe security needs to look more intimidating. We were here two nights for a wedding. Overall, it was a nice venue for the wedding reception. We had the outdoor tented area and it was the perfect size for a 130 person wedding. Service was good, and the food was actually pretty great. Not the most handicap accessible, but it was okay for what was needed. Very beautiful lighting and easy to decorate for any occasion. I think there was another wedding going on the same day and it was private enough where we hardly noticed. We were underwhelmed with the hotel room. Our biggest issue was that despite turning the air all the way down to 60, the room was really not cooling off. It was hard to sleep as there was no air flow and a bit warm. We had someone look at it to confirm it was working, and he verified the air filter had just been changed. The bathrooms we thought could also use a fan, as they felt damp and had that classic bathroom smell. Overall, things were clean! The bed was comfortable and tv was able to connect to our Netflix which was nice. read more

It really pains me to say this but I can't recommend the hotel. I worked there in the late eighties. It was beautiful and pretty luxurious then. I am now handicapped. The ADA rooms are a joke. When I booked the rooms I needed connecting rooms one one not. They wouldn't confirm that configuration I have worked in 5 star hotels for about 35 years. I have never seen such apathy in the reservation system. Then when we arrived the first room was equipped with a TUB The second room had a roll in shower but no seat! Also, had I not been with my Companion I would never have gotten into or out of the room. The furniture is not accommodating at all either Their ADA compliance is laughable but this isn't funny. read more

DOG PLANET! Have stayed at this property many times over the past 24 years. As of now, it has only gotten worse. Number one: they allow dogs. And there are A LOT of dogs here. If you are traveling with your dog, you may love this. If you are not, you may not like it at all. Here's why. It is hard to figure why they have so many dogs here. This is a nicely done business hotel. For whatever reason, they sure encourage them. And you will hear them. Due to the wide-open atrium layout, every floor is your floor. An attractive layout, but you hear every sound. All the hallways are connected. I heard dogs several times every day. And loud. If you stay here, you have to remember: everywhere you sit, lay, eat or walk, there has been a dog there at some point. Something to think about. The noise issue is bothersome due to the layout. I visited on the quietest week of the year, and it was noisy. Anytime someone walks into the hallway or lobby talking, you can hear them. They do have meetings and parties here, and people tend to gather into the hallways. Plenty of children too. Desk staff is disinterested in this issue. The décor has gotten a bit dated and worn. They say they are renovating soon, but that has not happened. Worse: after 10:00 pm, there is NO hot water at all. The location is good, the setting is attractive. They share the property with three office buildings and a lake. Nice view from some of the rooms. There is a bar at lobby level with some food. This could be a good place for a wedding or other event. But if you are a business traveler, this is no longer a good option. For rates of $190+/nite, this is not a good value. I stayed here for a conference I was attending. While the location is close to home, it seemed like a better idea to stay on-site rather than commuting back and forth in traffic with gas prices as high as they are. Throw in an itinerary with long days... and, well, I found myself checking in to a standard room with two queen beds. The check-in process was quick and efficient and I was able to get into my room slightly early, which I appreciated as it was during a break in the conference schedule. My room was mostly fine. There was a blood smear on the outside of the shower curtain so that wasn't great but otherwise the room was clean enough and comfortable. The atrium style lobby was an annoyance, as other reviewers have noted. The noise travels upward and is hard to ignore. Having the television on helped drown it out but it was never completely avoidable or quiet. I don't necessarily expect complete silence - this design is extremely flawed. Staff throughout the stay were friendly, including the baristas at the coffee kiosk in the lobby and the catering staff. Self-parking is free and there's plenty of it. I visited the gym during my stay and found it clean with new-ish equipment. If you're coming for a conference or event and plan to be part of the mayhem in the atrium (that's my new band name), it's probably a fine place to stay. If you're in the area with your family or something, you can find quieter places nearby. read more

I was really excited to visit this place and it turned out to be a bust. The lobby is set up so even the tiniest amount of noise echoes through the whole place - the staff has to know this by now but they still did nothing about it when I was there. Other reviews say this too and I figured I could handle the noise so I went anyway but I really shouldn't have. We were kept up for hours in the middle of the night by what turned out to be just a few teenagers talking with their coach after getting to the hotel late. The gym and indoor pool were a nice touch but the pool is too hot and short for a real workout and the hot tub left a weird temporary stain on any rings we had on. It's pet friendly which is nice, but the staff itself weren't that nice - probably the rudest hotel staff I've ever seen but that may have been because there was a really annoying conference going on when I was there. I didn't see how that gave permission to the staff to be rude to customers but maybe they had other thoughts. I'd avoid this place. read more

It was so loud- it's set up "courtyard" style so the whole center is open and the rooms are accessible like motel style so the sound travels, as do the smells.... The outdoor wedding was loud blasting music til 12, and the indoor wedding with buffet was even louder and later. The rooms were clean enough. The food was good. However, the AC was broken in the room, the tub did not drain, there's a small leak above the shower, the shower head and handle were broken and my room smelled like someone smoked a carton of cigarettes. The parking lot is not well lit and the curb appeal is disappointing. There is signage got masks to be worn but it's not being enforced. read more

You'd think staying at the Westin the accommodations would be better. After entering the room, we discovered everything had been unplugged which made resetting the alarm was a pain. There was visible mold in the bathrooms. The caulking in the tub was peeling. The ceiling seemed to be falling apart in the shower. When you take a shower the tub fills up so you can take a bath and a shower at the same time. Never been in a room that when you took a shower with the door closed caused the main window to outside was completely frosted. Bedding had stains on them. The painting above the beds is nice and at least the fridge worked. The Bistro in the middle of the main floor has good food. I had a burger and fries and it was delicious. read more

So, there are a few things I want to say about this place... I was here for a seminar series one weekend a month for about 4 months. After awhile, faces start looking familiar. I won't be coming back in the area, but the staff here made a big impression on me. I regret to say that I have forgotten the names of the men who have been so wonderful to my husband and I, but I won't forget their faces. My personal favorite guy, was the bartender who worked in the evenings. He was very kind and so sweet!! I don't drink, so he recommended me the Mai Thai. And he even made a joke "I'm not Thai", it was charming, tons of personality and charisma. During my last night of my last stay, my husband went down there to say bye to him specifically. I remember this because there was a stamp convention going on and a guy wanted them to stay open longer. I thanked him for being so good to us, and I'm glad that we got to meet each other. 4 months later, I'm still thinking of him. Second person I wanted to shoutout is the driver. He recommended to us the best burgers. Drove us to eat hotpot, and we stole him to take us to drink boba. (Our treat). We had such a great time that l wish I knew about the service so we would have explored the area a little more. I know they were just doing their job, but did make an impact on us, and I'm so thankful that our paths crossed. The team here is fantastic! The hotel rooms were nice and clean! Some rooms, the air conditioning did not work, so they just moved us to a different room. Water pressure is great! Be "warned" that there are tons of weddings that happen here during the weekends, so get a room on the higher floors! read more

I went to the restaurant, placed my order which was ready in about 15 minutes. The service was fast, efficient and the food was AMAZING. Stayed here for a convention and the room was a huge disappointment. I had a suite and you're literally extra for the long unnecessary hallway in your room. You walk in two double doors and then there's this long hall with nothing in it then you turn the corner and bam, washroom and bed. I was able to check out other regular rooms while they had the doors open for cleaning and it was confirmed that the only difference between the King Junior suite and a regular king room is the long unnecessary hallway that serves no purpose to the room itself. Oh and did I mention that you shouldn't run the washroom sink for long because the water doesn't drain fast enough and just fills fast? It literally takes over 15 minutes drain just to wash hands again. My recommendation, do not waste your money on the King Junior Suite. I mentioned it to the front desk in the evening and both him and some mechanical guy told me that's just the way they are. I asked the guy behind the desk what's the purpose of charging more for a room that has a hallway that serves zero purpose and adds no "suite" amenity to the room itself, he said he didn't know and once again he asked the mechanical guy and he said look we're not sales. I then asked about the sink and they said all the rooms have slow sink drains and that it's normal. Great answers night crew. Now the only reason I'm giving this a 2 star rating is for the staff during the day. The girls behind the desk during the day were extremely helpful with random needs ie towels, shower soap etc. (Mind you the shower soap was empty already on my first day. So I needed to have someone refill it before I even used it.) I gave up on trying to switch rooms or get an answer for the room debacle because I was busy all day with convention meetings and didn't have time to unload in another room plus with others events there, the girls seemed very busy as it was. The ladies working the restarting were extremely polite and helpful with breakfast. I did get a chance to have a brief conversation with one of the staff members that overheard my conversation of frustration with the room and they came over and were very apologetic and stating that the entire hotel is understaffed because no one wants to work so hotel staff is doing double duty but it's not enough. I really felt bad for the staff that actually cared to try. Lastly I will say that Bella was the most outstanding staff member there. She went above and beyond during each interaction. So if anyone deserved five stars it would be her. I will be sharing the experience with the convention committee before next year. read more

It's a good hotel. In a very nice neighborhood. Due to the interior architecture all the rooms are all around the edge of the building. So when things are happening on the first floor (in the lobby area, bar,etc) it can be noisy. Acoustics are great, but not so great for people who want quiet in their rooms at night. Also the bed in my room was too soft for me. So didn't get much sleep. However, service is pleasant and friendly. read more

Upon first glance, the Westin is an absolutely beautiful hotel. Our room was impeccable, with a massive window looking out to a pond with geese and swans, a beautiful outdoor banquet space and lots of greenery. They offered complimentary lavender essential oil for sleeping, Starbucks coffee, and had the most amazing double shower head. They even provided free shuttles back and forth from the Westin to Belvedere Events & Banquets where our family's wedding was located. However, that's where the positives end unfortunately. The atrium at the center of the hotel, as others have mentioned, is SO NOISY. You are not going to be able to sleep because at all hours of the night, you can hear people shouting at one another. In fact, there was even a mariachi band playing the night we stayed there. I tried shoving bath towels under the door to eliminate the noise as much as possible, but it was still a very restless night. The loud noises begin again with families and young kiddos going to grab breakfast at the crack of dawn. #nosleep There is complimentary wifi in the atrium on the 1st floor, but if you want to use it in your room it's $10/day to connect. When you're already paying $150/night to stay at the Westin, the least they could do is throw in some complimentary wifi in the rooms! Breakfast states it's included, but when we walked down there the server informed us it's $15.99/person. WOAH. Thankfully we were part of a wedding crew, so they let us in for free. However, if I was dining there and paying my own way, the basic scrambled eggs, oatmeal, pastries and fruit would not have made me happy given the accompanying price tag. Overall, I DEFINITELY do not recommend staying here unless you are a very heavy sleeper and don't mind constant noise. read more

We had our son and daughter-in-law's wedding reception last night. First, Adolfo was first rate!!! He attended to every single detail and was so kind. Cocktail hour hor de oeuvres were delicious. The filet and mushroom risotto entree was PHENOMENAL!!! Eggplant Parmigiana delicious as well! Miguel, the events/catering manager was also right on when we shared a few concerns. We also had two servers who were fabulous ( Sabera? And a woman w a cool Mickey Apple Watch). Only concerns : tent room needs some refreshing (stained linens, somewhat dank odor- but handled by Miguel) & serving crew was SO loud in their hidden area during speeches that many guests across the room couldn't hear the Father of the Bride's speech (personally had to go shush them). Last, refilling of sweets table and late night snacks needed constant reminder. For what is charged that shouldn't be so sparse. I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights while attending a company conference in early June 2019. In addition to putting us up in rooms, my company also used the Westin's conference facilities and catering services for breakfast and lunch, as well as 1 happy hour event on a Tuesday evening. My room, which had 2 double beds, was very comfortable and spacious. There was a good-sized desk in the room, where I was able to get some work done. The TV did not have Internet TV connection, unlike most of the other Marriott properties I stayed at during the summer. The bathroom also wasn't cleaned to the same standard as I'm used to at other Marriott properties; this isn't to say it was dirty, but I did notice occasional stray hairs or dust in some corners of the counters and bathtub. There isn't a lot going on in the vicinity of the hotel, and Uber Eats options are generally limited to chains (a lot of Panda Express in particular). Thankfully, the hotel has a couple of dining options as well as room service, which I used for dinner twice during my stay. The food was tasty--I especially liked the chicken stirato--although with delivery and tip, room service was pricy. If you're not lazy, I'd recommend just getting carryout from the grill downstairs, since it's the same food minus the delivery fee. The staff I interacted with were friendly and room service always arrived in a timely fashion. The hotel has a big atrium in the middle, so you can look down at the lobby and restaurant/market from whatever floor you're staying at. This is pretty neat, aesthetically, and if you take the elevator it's pretty fun as well. I personally like this set-up but I'm also a very heavy sleeper. I imagine if you're trying to sleep while people are making noises downstairs and it's echoing up the atrium, the set-up would be less ideal. As far as conference facilities: the conference rooms my company used were on the 2nd floor, and we had breakfast and lunch daily in a 1st-floor ballroom. There seemed to be a good range of conference room sizes that could be offered, and they were comfortable and the technology worked reliably. Hotel staff brought in coffee, tea, and snacks throughout the day (I'm sure this depends on what the company opts to pay for, but our snacks included yogurt, fresh fruit, granola bars, candy bars, and trail mix at various points during my stay). The breakfast/lunch was a little lackluster; again, this might depend on the specific package purchased, but we did get some very chewy churros and bland burgers. Overall, a pretty average hotel, but reliable if you're using conference facilities and pretty comfortable to stay in. By Westin's standards this is a property that is showing it's age. Taking COVID into account the staff was doing a great job but seemed as though they were short handed. The room I got was a King and no upgrade being Titanium. The hotel was not very busy. I did eat at the restaurant with a friend of mine and the food and drinks were good but again the server was just too busy. She did great under the circumstances. As this was the most convenient and upscale of the Marriott properties to where I needed to be it worked out ok. read more

We had a decent stay here. Be warned: check maps before you book. We did, but underestimated the time it would take to get to the city. I wouldn't recommend staying here just based on the location if most of what you plan to do is in the city. The hotel is pretty nice. What you'd expect from a Westin (and a good value, which is why we booked it). There's a Starbucks downstairs with good breakfast options as well. Our room was clean and spacious, with comfortable beds and a good shower. I shared a room with 2 queens with 2 other friends and we had plenty of room to get ready. All staff were wearing masks when we went (August 2021). Some guests were, not all. All staff was very friendly to us. The other downside to this hotel is the noise. To be fair, we were warned at check in, but underestimated the issue again. There were loud weddings in the hotel each night of our (Friday-Sunday night) stay. We were on the 9th floor, but could clearly hear the music until about midnight each night. So definitely something to be aware of and something I'd recommend asking about when you book. This hotel is nice and a good value and I'd recommend it if the reason you're in Chicago is nearby. But otherwise, I wouldn't, just based on the location. There's not a lot of good public transit options nearby and the one day we did that it took about 1.5 hours. The other option is an Uber which will run you about $50 each way.
