Just writing another recommendation for Pioneer Home Repairs!!…read more I had another small job I needed completed - and to be honest - I wasn't even sure if what I wanted existed - but Zachrey Conner came up with a great solution which not only gets the job done - but was economical because he was able to use my existing hardware instead of having to start buying a bunch of expensive stuff I didn't need! We have a screened in porch on the back of our house - and we have a medium sized dog who we like to give access to both our porch and the fenced in back yard. We keep his bed, along with his food and water bowls on the porch and our solution up to now has been to prop open the screen door so he could go in and out. But about a week ago we had a pretty windy day and the wind caught the propped open door and bent it all the way open - which damaged the mechanism on the top of the door that is used to prop the door open. I went to Lowes to price a new screen door (thinking that was our only option) and while doing so I thought to myself - why dont they make a doggy door for within a screen door?? I looked at Lowes, Home Depot and even Amazon and did not find anything like what I was thinking would be a perfect solution - because I knew even if we replaced the bent door it would likely be damaged again in the future if we continued to prop it open. So - I reached out to Zach and he literally showed up at my door to talk about what I wanted within 30 minutes of texting him (like seriously - who does that)!! He said he was finishing a job near by and so he came right over. We talked about what I was wanting and he said he thought we could modify my exisiting door without too much trouble and he then told me my original door wasn't damaged - I just needed a new part for the existing door - and that part cost less than $20!! I was thrilled. We setup an appointment for him to return to do the work and he finished the job a little earlier today. Once again I am thrilled with the outcome. He installed the new part to fix my door and customized the original door by removing two vertical slats to the right hand side of the door and created a frame to support the changes in the actual screening - which he cut and added a metal piece to the bottom of and then added magnets in the frame of the door itself so it now swings open for my dog to go through but will stay closed to prevent bugs from entering an open hole - just like a doggy door is supposed to do!! Now I can use my door but keep it closed all while allowing my dog to come and go multiple times per day without having to physically let him in and out of the porch or prop open the door!! Zach is such a wonderful handyman! I highly recommend him for any repairs or maintenance work you need done! My husband & I are from California. We had a rental in Jacksonville, NC. In September 2018…read moreHurricane Florence hit; our home did not flood but was badly damaged, eg: roof damage, collapsed interior ceilings, etc. The damage to homes caused by Florence was extensive in our area and my husband & I realized supplies and contractors would be in short supply. So, we made the decision to pack up our Ford pickup w/tools and supplies along with our 26' RV trailer in tow, and 2 dogs, we drove from San Diego, CA to Jacksonville, NC in 5 days to meet up with our claims adjustor. We looked like the Beverly Hillbillies. After several days of cleanup and hearing discouraging reports that supplies and contractors were in short supply, our ray of light and hope emerged when we met Carey, the owner of Under One Roof Construction. I had seen him drive up to inspect the roof across the street from us. My husband & I made it a point to talk with him to see if he could help us out. We immediately took a liking to Carey. Knowledgeable. Easy going. Established family business. Carey, gave us a reasonable roof estimate; we gave him the job. Carey brought out his roofing crew, some who had been with him over 10 years; you could tell how they instinctively worked together. They installed a new beautiful roof. He and his crew were very professional. They picked up all their construction mess and used a magnetized roller to pick up any roofing nails in their work area. We were quite impressed w/their roof competency, products, and warranty that we asked Carey if he had a construction crew who could help us with the damaged interior work. Carey, again, came through; he worked us in to his VERY tight schedule. So, we contracted w/him for the interior damage caused by Florence, including interior sheetrock tear down, installing new insulation, rehung new sheetrock on the ceilings, interior priming and painting, etc. Carey and his crews did all the big stuff. We are forever grateful. 3 months of exhaustive labor took its toll on my husband (70 yrs old) and myself (64 yrs old). The events that led up and followed with Carey coming to our aid was literally an answered prayer; a small miracle. In addition to Carey, we recognized several small miracles during our Florence trip including our drive back home when our truck broke down in Anniston, AL a week before Christmas Eve....but that's another adventure, for another day.
