We hired Home Genius to replace our siding and windows. While the quality of the finished work was ok, the overall experience getting to that point was extremely frustrating. Our project began the week of June 8. We were initially told the siding would take about a week to complete and that the windows would be installed in one day once they arrived. Unfortunately, that timeline was never met. Shortly after the siding project started, we were told the crew had run out of materials. From there, the project was delayed multiple times. The windows arrived, and I took time off work for the scheduled installation and then received a call the night before saying the crew wouldn't be coming. We were given several new installation dates, but each one came and went without anyone showing up. Throughout the process, communication was disappointing. We often had to repeatedly call for updates, many calls went unanswered or to voicemail, and we were frequently given conflicting information. It felt like we had to chase someone down just to find out what was happening with our own project. Due to the conflicting information given, they agreed to put siding at the top of the front porch, however they did not. I have holes in the walls in the inside of my home where they put the nails in the siding, when I brought this to their attention, they said there was nothing they could do about it, that that was a common issue. Before I agreed to go with this company I was told they had insurance for any issues they caused but was then told the holes in the walls were something they would not fix. In the end, Home Genius did complete the siding and window installation almost 2 months later. However, the weeks of delays, missed commitments, lack of communication, and the inconvenience of having an unfinished home, made what should have been an exciting home improvement project far more stressful than it needed to be. I would not recommend this company to do any siding or window work based on my experience. Update to previous review I came home this morning to my siding falling off of my home. I have reached out to several people including the project manager, the sales rep, the project managers manager and the 800 number to let them know. I am highly disappointed, it has not been 30 days since the project was complete, and my siding is coming down. read more

At first, they seemed professional, a representative came out, spent over an hour and a half assessing the house, took photos, and even went into the attic for what felt like a very thorough evaluation. He promised an estimate within a few days. ​Fast forward over two weeks: absolute radio silence. No estimate, no updates, nothing. The only communication I received was an automated text asking why I decided not to go with their services (which was complete news to me!). When I replied that I was still waiting for my quote, they just told me to call their 800 number. ​I called multiple times and sent several emails. No one answered, and no one ever got back to me. At this point, I seriously question the legitimacy of this company and their operations. It doesn't matter what the estimate would have been. I will never use their services, and I strongly encourage others to steer clear. In January of this year, we had siding installed by Home Genius. Right off the bat, we had warranty claims for gutter damage and installation issues. Once the claim was submitted, Home Genius seemed to forget about us. We had to make multiple calls to customer service as weeks went by without any repairs. We finally got fed up and filed a complaint with the BBB and left about 10 negative reviews across the internet. Suddenly they were at our doorstep wanting to fix the issues. Well, here we go again. In May we had a piece of siding fall off our house. We filed a claim and waited and waited. We once again we made multiple calls to customer service to get someone out to fix it. Once they showed up, I pointed out a wall with a lot of waviness that was concerning me. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the siding on this wall was not clicked together. You can literally stick your hand in the wall. It was agreed that this wall needs to be redone. While we were waiting for this repair, another piece fell off the front of our house. It took multiple calls to get this ugliness repaired, but no matter how many calls I make, I cannot get them to fix the improperly installed wall. It is an exercise in patience dealing with this company; they seem perfectly content to let you languish with your repairs while making calls that get you nowhere. I suspect it's a game, and they're hoping you will tire of the game and give up. I'm not giving up; I want what I paid for. read more

I have waited a few months before posting this review to give me some time to calm down and write rationally. I am only writing this review because I hope I can save someone else all the trouble I went through. I will try to keep this as brief as possible, but I could write for days about my experience. The salesman I originally met with was wonderful. He listened to my needs, and we put together a plan that fit my home base upon my budget. The original scope of work was to fully replace my gutters, fascia, vented soffit (my house is old and lacking on vented soffits), trim boarding, front door, and to add ridge vents to my roof. They offered a decent price that was a bit on the high side, but I figured that was fair because I wouldn't be managing the project through several different contractors. I work long hours in another trade so I knew I wouldn't have time to manage everything. The problems started on the first day of work. They decided to start with the gutters, soffit and trim. The scope of work was full replacement. I was able to get off early that day and made my way home to see their progress. The contract I had signed stated they would have a construction dumpster delivered to the property for waste disposal. When I arrived at home, there was no dumpster. I was confused for a moment but decided to watch them work for a while to understand what was going on. After watching them work for 20 mins, I quickly realized they were not following the scope of work I was sold. Instead of replacing everything, they were wrapping the original materials in metal flashing. They were also tacking vented soffits overtop my original soffit (completely rendering the new vents useless). I called a full stop to all work and got the project manager on the phone. After a lot of excuses about how they only replace rotted boards and this was the scope of work I was sold, I showed them the original emails between the salesman and I that stated everything was to be fully replaced. This changed their tune quickly. I inquired about the tacking of the new soffit over my existing soffit and was told that shouldn't have occurred. Since I had photo evidence of it occurring, I asked where the breakdown in communication was. I never got a satisfactory answer. I will never know whether it was the sub-contractor they hired or the project manager who directed this. At this point, I tried to reach out to their corporate office for assistance and met radio silence for weeks. When the customer service manager did finally call, he listened to my story and said he would get back to me. They never did. No matter how many times I called back. At this point, I should have cancelled the remaining projects but working as much as I do, I hoped it would work out. The work continued. While replacing the gutters and soffit, their subcontractors used ladders without padding and my hardy board siding was severely damaged. Hardy board is difficult/impossible to repair so I was livid. After several more conversations with the project manager, they were going to provide me with a quote to replace my siding. The first quote they sent over was outrageously high. I have a tiny house and the quote was well above the average pricing in my area. Eventually they relented and sent over a more reasonable quote. Still high for my area but not outrageous so I agreed to have them replace my siding. Another mistake on my part but being a first time homeowner, I was navigating uncharted waters. They provided a list of color choices and I was told to pick which suited me best. My first two choices "weren't available" so I had to go with my third choice. Doing my own research later, I found out that my first two choices had a higher material cost and believe that is why they denied them. All told, I was ready to move forward with one instruction, "Do not damage my prized lace leaf japanese maple at the front of my home." I have raised the tree for over a decade and it was my pride and joy. I bet you can see where this is going.... I came home during the siding install and over half of my tree's canopy had been damaged or destroyed. The tree is not large and could have been easily worked around with a little care. The project manager was on site when I discovered the damage, and I was so upset that I couldn't even speak to him. Trees are my vocation so I was quick to remind him the next day that I fully understood the laws around damaging a client's trees. To their credit, he took the situation seriously and discount my work by a hefty amount to cover the costs I would need to spend on tree repair/replacement. While I appreciate the gesture, I still am out the decade I spent caring and raising the tree. This isn't half of the review but they won't let me write any more characters. First look at how many complaints they have on BBB. I have been misplaced from home because of their delays and failures to fulfill their end of the contract. I just want a refund for the paid work that they have failed to complete. They refuse because they know suing them is not financially worth it for a customer who simply wants a refund for work not completed. Booked a $30,000 job. They use 3rd party contractors, but if asked, they dance around that fact! They are not provided with RELIABLE or "marked" company trucks. Scheduling is a nightmare. Avoid "Kiersten!!!!!!" I was inconvenienced 4 days in a row. Monday- they showed up unannounced- they came at 7:15 unexpected, then just drove away with no communication. Tuesday & Wednesday- 2 jobs- 2 NO SHOW! So I cancelled - received refund. Then- Thursday, another crew arrived unannounced to work, with materials still lying in my yard. Had I bern at work, they would have completed a job for free- not realizing I had a refund already! Poor workers weren't told I cancelled! They drove 100 minutes for no reason. "Kiersten" didn't communicate to them. Later received estimates from different companies that were well under HGE's price., glossy materials, slick sales, but couldn't deliver on promises. Avoid HGE. Corporate greed. Insufficient oversight of under-compensated contracted labor. read more

Avoid this company at all costs. They text and call and text and call from many different numbers after asking them endlessly to stop the harassment. You mark them as spam and yet another text comes through. You talk on the phone and they attracts stop calling and another call comes through. To me, It means they are a desperate, money-grubbing, greedy outfit--AVOID. read more

Requested a quote for replacing a section of siding that's been on the honey-do list for over a decade. Guy came out, started looking over siding not related to the area, asked to go into attic. Told me the roof decking was saturated and rotting through and that was what had caused the problems with the trouble siding on the ground floor, without any evidence of leak or stain anywhere inside the house. Reviews mentioned this company does high pressure up sales. That's why they wanted 90 minutes. I had a house inspector come give me his opinion. Roof not rotting, not saturated. Normal discoloration from storage and dirt from the original building site. Roof is fine. Avoid these scammers. read more
