I ran to Dr. Scharf as a new patient when an 11 year old porcelain veneer on my front tooth decided to chip very noticeably. I am so glad I conducted further research beyond the reviews online, opting to go to this doctor for his experience and credentials over anything else. A previous poster called him arrogant; I found him to be confident, funny, completely capable and down to earth. Even so, I would rather have a doctor with a healthy ego caused by professional success over one without. Dr. Scharf competently fixed my unsightly crack with the skill and artistry provided by his training and experience. I went in thinking I would spend $1800 to get it fixed, but it was under $300. Yes, I'll likely have to get some more restorative work done when the composite fix degrades, but to even have the less expensive option to tide me over is a blessing. It looks nearly perfect, and I couldn't be happier. After this experience, I immediately scheduled a cleaning appointment for myself and my family, and I will rely on Dr. Scharf's practice for all of my dental needs moving forward. read more

Would never recommend. i visited this office last year and since then I have just been receiving bills. The people who attend phone calls and billing are abrasive and highly unprofessional people. They don't return to call back when asked for billing questions. When called they provide incorrect information and in return asked not to yell and ask to watch tone. They loot money. My advice is to stay away from this practice. They are LIARS. The front and back office (receptionists) have very BAD ATTITUDE. read more

I'm 50+ y/o and I had not seen a dentist in almost 20 years. My mouth was a "hot mess". A friend recommended Exton Dental Health Group. I was embarrassed to make the appointment, but I did. Seriously, BEST. DECISION. EVER. First of all, there was no judgement on the condition of my teeth. Dr. Kopecki and the team assured me everything would be okay; infected gums, bleeding, root canal, crowns - you name it, I had it. After several trips, I finally had beautiful, healthy teeth. I was so happy. I found myself staring at my teel all the time (almost hit someone b/c I caught myself staring at my teeth in rear view window once, sorry about that). After a few months, I decided to fix the annoying gap between upper front teeth. The first thing I remember about Dr. Scharf are his hawaiian shirts. He was funny, super confident and a bit quirky (the man is always loosing his glasses). We hit it off immediately and I knew I'd made the right decision to go with him. Again. BEST. DECISION. EVER. Turns out, Dr. Scharf was able to identify a few other issues I was having with my aching jaw (he is not arrogant, the man simply knows his $hit) and after about a year ++ of Invisalign braces: SMILE OF MY DREAMS. I would happily recommend Exton Dental Health Group in the strongest way possible to anyone (especially adults) with dental issues. I visited this office toward then end of last year. I went as a new patient and upon my first visit I thought, "yes, the office staff is so nice and welcoming" this was rare as the office staff at other locations tended to be the typical office receptionists with terrible attitudes. I was assigned to Dr. Kopecki and noticed how nervous all of the office staff seemed to be around him and how incredibly short he was with all of them. With me, he just kept conversation to the absolute bare minimum he could get away with but was neither friendly or rude. That day, he said I had to have 5 fillings as I had the start of cavities. I was surprised because I had never felt any indication of these cavities but trusted him and figured they just weren't bad enough to cause me any discomfort yet and was thankful he caught them. So I took his recommendation and allowed them to do the fillings upon a second visit. After that, I couldn't chew on my right side and if I did accidentally I experience a sharp pain. So I went back, he filed the fillings down and said that should do it but I ended up having to go back again for the same reason, still couldn't chew on my right side. He did the same thing. I came back yet again, at which point he decided to remove one of he fillings and do it again. Seemed to fix this issue for a few weeks and then it started again, and yet again I couldn't chew on my right side. So I go back again today, he says nothing to me, not even hi and immediately dives into my mouth and starts filing away without even looking into my mouth for more than a second or two. Then the spot that hurts when I chew all of a sudden started throbbing when he was done. So he does an X-ray to check the nerve, nerves fine, so he tells me my bite has changed and this is likely happening because I grind my teeth. He never picked up on teeth grinding before and didn't even offer any treatment for his random, sudden problem I now I have and then just said the filing he did should do the trick. Then just walked away, left me with my bib on, the table pushed into my chest and the chair all the way back. I took that as my cue to go, took the bib off myself, moved the table and then asked if him and his assistant if they needed anything from me after I saw them very quietly speaking, they said no and I was ok to go. I'm almost out the door and they yell toward me "oh by the way, don't eat anything hard for a little while on that side" Basically : if you want a dentist with an enormous ego, one who won't treat you like a human being deserving of politeness, explanation and instruction --- he is your guy! So sad I trusted this man to do right by me and my mouth and continued repeatedly to do so even after the first couple times. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Kopecki's for about 6 years. Every time I get my teeth cleaned they always tell me I need something done.. the last few times they have been telling me that they want to replace one of my crowns and also the one next to it...oh and by the way... I have a cavity there too... Due to a new job I had new dental insurance which of course, they would not accept for dental work but they did accept it for the cleanings.. I know...made no sense to me either. Got a second opinion from another dentist in Exton who took an x-ray of the area and told me that I actually DID NOT need the crowns replaced and I DID NOT have a cavity... My advice is to stay far way from this practice. They LIE and now I have PROOF from a second opinion.. Very disappointing. Needless to say my family and I will not be going back to this dentist ever! read more

I recently moved to PA and needed to find a dental practice. I read the Google reviews and chose Exton Dental Health Group. The front office and dental techs are very attentive, welcoming and detailed oriented. For the most part my visits are just with the Dental hygienist for routine cleaning --( Tara is amazing). For dental work I see Dr. Scharf. He has a "direct" style but that is what I want from any doctor. On my first visit there I walked out with a better smile. I transferred to this clinic based on a recommendation from a family friend. Their practice specializes in cosmetic dentistry. This is evident in their gentle push for getting dental implants. I went for a consultation. Right away, they wanted to redo all my fillings in addition to the cleaning. They also recommended dental implants ("Are you happy with your smile?"). They pushed a little bit even after telling them that I can't afford it. Stacey (may or may not be her real name) did a fine job of cleaning my teeth. On to the next room (not really a room but will get into that later) for my dental fillings work. However, before I went there, Stacey, my dental hygienist, proceeded to inject me with anesthetics. I am not sure if this is normal but this is the first time other than a Dentist did the injection. I let it go since she did a fine job anyway. Off I went to the dentist area where he will do the fillings. Lo and behold, he started preparing for needles and anesthetics. I proceeded to let him know that his Stacey administered and his assistant did confirm it. Very careless in my opinion. Recently, I had some scaling done. The first 2 was done by Stacey (fine job again), but the last one was done by this middle age woman hygienist. OH MY GOD!!!. She was very careless and looks unprepared. Her equipment were either malfunctioning or she didn't know how to use them. Water keep pouring and squirting all over me. She kept adjusting them to no avail. She placed her equipment on top of my chest - I repeat that, she was leaving equipment on top of me. While Stacey had soft touch, she was far from it. I felt everything despite anesthesia. She used a very unique technique, I would describe it as brushing, while cleaning my gums. I really believe that there are some people who are not suitable for certain job. She is one of them. Dental job needs certain finesse. She doesn't have any of it. She is he main reason why I stopped going to them or to dentist for a couple of years. Equipment and environment - They have a open area setup as oppose to a room (although the very rough hygienist had a room of her own). You can actually see Dentist working on their patients from outside of their office. This make for an uncomfortable situation for me. A couple of times during the middle of my cleaning, people just saunter and started talking to Stacey. Not cool at all. Remember those spit basin that they have in the dentist office? They have a something that like a spit hose. All of the above made me decide to go back to my old dentist. I will endure a half hour longer drive. read more

I made an appointment to see Mr. Scharf for a consultation and him and his staff is so unbelievably rude.....I waited 50 minutes for my appointment and to top it off they charged me 90$ in which he only saw me for 5 minutes! I was told to open my mouth he told the assistant his opinion and left! He didn't answer my questions completely rushed me and was overall rude in his attitude I will never come back even if they gave me a free service. read more

He is arrogant, self centered and has a hugely inflated ego. A case of someone who should not be in the "patient care" business. (I latter discovers that my friend goes to Dr Kopeki (so?). I would never go back to this dental group again. They are trying to charged me extra for dental work that was not discussed with me. The staff is difficult to work with as far as scheduling an appointment. They also want all of their money up front before delivering a product to you. I called them up for the new patient appointment and confirmed over the phone if they take BCBS Insurance and was told 'Yes we do' - My appointment was scheduled for 8:30a and I arrived 15 mins earlier along with already filled docs. At around 8:50a I was called in and got informed that they don't take BCBS Ins and I had to pay out of my pocket and get reimbursed by myself. The lady at the counter was also very rude. The hygienist Anita was on the other hand acted very professionally and explained me the things in much better way. All in all very bad experience as a first time patient of this facility. Please watch out if you carry 'Blue Cross Blue Shield' insurance at all as they don't take it or even advertise it on their web site. read more

I have saved up my whole life to get veneers. I came to Jonathan Scharf because I did not want to trust something so important and expensive to the average cosmetic dentist. I read up on him and he seemed to have the credentials. I got full veneers on top and am very happy with them. The assistants in the office were all very pleasant and helpful to me. It can be scary for some people getting shots, etc. for the veneer procedure and these assistants helped me thru that part of it. But you definitely want to be fully numbed when getting full veneers on your top row of teeth. I also needed some crowns so I got that done at the same time. It took some stamina to get thru the procedure as I needed a lot of work done, but I figure that is normal and was worth it for the great teeth I have now. Now I can smile without keeping my lips closed. This is very exciting for me. I believe the results were worth going to a veneer pro like Scharf, rather than say a typical family dentist who does not specialize in veneers. read more

I was referred to Exton Dental Group and Dr. Scharf by my present wife. I have been going to Dr. Scharf for over ten years and just completed all of my dental needs. My teeth feel great! This is the first time in my life since I was little boy that I do not have any silver in my mouth. He is everything his recognition says he is.......excellent! Yes i did get the "we can whiten your teeth and make them perfect speech" but it was not in my budget nor plans at the time. My teeth were in bad shape and the dentist I had been using for years was a 'slam bam thank you mam' type dentist only interested in the money! He is no longer in the business thank goodness. I am going to see Anita next week for my final cleaning this year. I intend on speaking to Dr. Scharf about getting my teeth white next year as they have discolored no thanks to the previous dentist.
