I parked my car on the gravel behind "Slim Olson's", where other cars were parked. There was no sign of me breaking the law. Afterall, obviously "St George Express" and "Slim Olson's" have an agreement or understanding that cars will be parked here with it being a designated meeting point for riders. My car is a nice car and obviously wasn't a breakdown. It had been parked there out of the way on Saturday Oct 27 at 12:20pm and I returned to pick it up Monday Oct 29 7pm and to my surprise it was gone.

The attended told me that I needed to go park up by the propane tank because "thats where they look for ya". After waiting up at the tank for about five minutes I pushed the call attendant button, I was told that they had already sent someone up, waited another five minutes for the attendant to come up and fill my tank. After he'd filled it I followed him back down to the store to pay. The attendant there barked my total at me and after I'd paid thew my recipt across the counter to me.. I'll think twice before I get anything here again..

These stations are $20 higher than reputable emission facilities around the valley. Both business charge $60 for older vehicle emission testing for cars made before 1996 and $45 for newer cars when other centers, like CURT'S EMISSION AND CAR WASH, charge only $40 for older vehicles and $35 for newer. So don't get ripped off. Shop around. There is a lot better choices out there.

I've talked about their connection to the highway before (summary: you can buy a $45 annual pass at their service counter) but I need to give them another shoutout. Over the last five years since my second review, I've been in countless times for pre-camp or pre-hike supplies. You know--the things you forget, or the junky things you get just because. I've stopped here for dinner a few times, but if you get there later than about 4pm, the selection of pre-made sandwiches, deli items, etc is pretty slim. And, to be honest, that's one area where I think they can improve. Not just the selection, but the care and quality that goes into those things. I mean, if I had my druthers, I'd stop at a local restaurant for food, but since I often come through town after dinner time on a Friday night after finishing work for the week, I want to get something quick! The magic is also with the gas station in that regard. I almost always fuel up here, even if I already have a nearly full tank. When I head up and out for 4WD adventures, the last thing I want is to have to turn back because of fuel worries. That little gas station just keeps on providing great drinks and a quick fuel. Add that to a grocery store that can help you grab things you may have forgotten (marshmallows!) and you've got a 1-2 punch that preps you for adventure.

But I don't love that you have to enter from 700 West--there's no driveway from 7200 S. The snack area and other road essentials is more spacious than your typical gas station, so stretch out and grab your jerky, fill your mug, and look at the priceless tchotchke for sale. Regarding the car wash--I dunno if they give one to everyone, or what. Clearly they're trying to upsell you on a more expensive one, but when I went there today I got a "you've earned a free car wash you can upgrade" just after swiping my card. I opted not to swipe but still got my carwash code on the receipt. So we'll see what happens. I will redeem at the Holiday just a few blocks away at the corner of 7500 S and State Street.
