Rat-infested facility. I chose this storage location because it is right next to the University of the Pacific, which made it convenient to move items in little by little before the semester started. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a mistake. After a few months, I began noticing rodent droppings on and around my belongings. Then, while looking for an item in my unit, I discovered a dead rat inside my unit, yes, inside my unit, by the entrance of my storage unit. I immediately contacted the manager, Ronnie. Her response was extremely disappointing. Rather than offering assistance, she told me that she does not remove dead rats and suggested that I push it out of the unit myself so her assistant could clean it up when he arrived on Monday. I then asked if she had a broom, stick, or any other tool I could use to move it. To my surprise, she told me she had none. I found it hard to understand how the manager of a storage facility could have no basic tools available to address a situation involving a dead rodent on the property. What bothered me most was not just the rat itself, but the lack of concern and accountability. At no point did she apologize or seem particularly interested in helping resolve the issue. To make matters worse, she suggested that I leave my key behind so her assistant could enter my unit while I was not there. I live a considerable distance away and cannot simply return on short notice. Given the rodent issues and the lack of concern shown in handling the situation, I was not comfortable leaving access to my unit and personal belongings unsupervised. Between the rodent droppings, the dead rat inside my unit, the lack of basic maintenance tools, and the manager's response to the situation, this was a very disappointing and unpleasant experience. Man I have tooo much stuff to be moving. I have the largest size unit 10x30 for my whole home I moved from Vegas and I started at $200 per month until they kept increasing it up to $450 per month. So I looked online and once again I see $200 for my size unit! So I got some help from my family to move all of my belongings to a different unit over a week in order to receive this price. Not even 3 months later I get an increase, now one year later I'm up to $360 now smh , not only do they have misleading, increasing prices, your unit becomes a rat breading ground with feces and pee covering everything! So make sure you have the proper storage containers and put rat traps and poison up for the safety of your belongings and be prepared to pay half of your homes rent as well. read more

I've had my unit for over a year now. Everything was fine until a month ago!!! There appears to be a rat problem now. I mentioned it to the staff. One woman was just as surprised and the other could care less... I had to set my own traps and caught one of these nasty fur balls!! Two units have moved out and I thought the problem would be gone because the other tenants had a Refrigerator and boxes off dried noodles/tea and other food items but I came back to check my traps. So I'm moving out!! Don't even waste your time. My mom got this unit for me while I was moving out of state and she didn't check the reviews. Sad situation with 89 yr old parent health, 30 Day Notice given on her apartment. Secured a 5x10 for $138.00 but 2 days later, needed larger 10x10, so paid 70.92 more to transfer. After a week it's apparent the storage will not be required. Never used either unit. Except to put a padlock on the door. I end the contract. Paid over $200 for never using the unit. Best refund they could "manage" was $138.00 Will not return to this facility. Also person running desk was mathematically challenged, so difficulty in making the pricing meet the 'online' booking price. read more

Rats , rats , rats! I'm in disbelief at the situation I'm in because of Extra Space Storage. I recently moved out of Stockton last year in July to southern Ca and put a ton of valuable goods during my transition this past July I went to pick up the goods to find it covered it rat piss and poop. I originally went with public storage because I rent through their facilities in other cities thinking I would have the same great experiences. This Stockton location is horrible it has a rant infestation, not just a rat problem , a rats are overrunning this facility! After coming back to my unit on the 1st of July I come back to find it destroyed, I go to the office to express my frustration they add insurance e because it's a "known problem" and they can help me out, today I get a call being accused of fraud from the insurance company because when I added insurance I was aware of the infestation when I was told by the associate. I'm in disbelief about my experience . Do not rent here at all! I am looking into legal action as their only response was to refund me the insurance they had me add. I feel like there is so much accountability that can be owned here. This is beyond "normal damage", they shouldn't be offering a service that is going to cause damage. This has to be illegal. Save yourself I lost thousands of dollars with of brand new products. Save yourself and go elsewhere! read more

I asked her three times when she next to Popeyes and she said yes which was not true canceled because it was too far out of our way called her for a cancellation. She said she was on her lunch. She can help me, but then again, she answer the phone asked for a refund not very polite said it never went through by this time I was annoyed and tired. I was wondering why this storage facility located near University of the Pacific was rated so low. They deserve every bit of their low ratings. I'm moving to Stockton from San Francisco. I made the Reservation for a 10 x 30 storage unit for a whole house move over the phone. Even after I had officially rented the space (deposit amount had cleared through my financial institution), one of the site managers phoned me, twice, asking if I was still interested in renting the space. That should have been a red flag for what was to come. I was able to visit the site yesterday in-person for the first time. After driving several hours, I went to the Office which the automated online e-mails indicated I needed to do. The Manager I spoke with was rude, telling me I didn't need to check in with them. OK. I did purchase a lock because I wasn't certain if one had been left in the storage unit (like their e-mails indicated). I asked directions to the unit & left. Using the key code, I entered the facility. A renter I passed was at his unit fixing bicycles. He was spray painting parts outside his unit with no spray booth around his work(?). When I got to my unit, I tried to roll open the door. It absolutely would not move even after several attempts. I walked back to the office in 95 degree heat to tell them I couldn't get the roll up door open. The rude Manager then told me to go back to the unit & she would meet me. Walking back in the heat, again. She rolled up in her electric car about 5 mins later with door lubricant. And yes, she couldn't open the door either until after spraying it. It clearly had not been opened in ages. When I finally get into the unit, what do I see but a large obstruction in the corner of the unit: a 3x3 aluminum column. 9 sq feet of wasted space. I unload the rental truck, rolled the door open/closed several times to work the lubricant along the tracks, affix the lock & headEd back to the office to ask a few questions. There's an overhead light with no switch, the ugly obstruction is a problem, and lastly, I'm concerned with the layout of the facility because a 25' moving van is going to have trouble maneuvering to my unit. I asked about the lighting: rude Manager says they have light sensors--they only turn on at night (not useful for me). Obstructed space, which was definitely not disclosed during the rental process? Both managers now say that actual space of units is "approximate"--"that's in the contract". What a scam. If I'd known ahead of time, I would have rented a 20x10 Unit, unobstructed. Now, I also asked specifically on the phone about access for larger moving vans. There was no mention of tight turns at any time. I don't think there was a general map of the facility at the website I used to make the reservation, either. I don't want the hassle of changing storage facilities at this time, but as soon as our new house is ready (3 months), I'm going to move out. Good riddance to a poorly managed facility with rude employees. read more

This is the absolute worse place to put your belongings. They have a massive rodent problem and will not work with you at all regarding any damages and expect you to still pay to hold your stuff and damage it for you...They also increase the storage fee by 100$ randomly on me don't get suckered and use this company/location. Pay extra to go elsewhere in the long run you will save yourself headaches from not having to deal with a sleezy company like this. If for whatever reason you read this review and still decide to use them get the insurance or you're only going to have yourself to blame when all your sentimental or valuable possessions are completely trashed by this storage company. read more

Yesterday I went 4 times and every time I went they were closed or the time changed for lunch. Ridiculous. The lady up front was very rude even after trying to be civil. I went again today this morning @9:37 they claim to open at 9:30 but no one was there the door was locked and I knocked and no answer. Horrible service I do not recommend. read more

I was diagnosed with cancer and I needed a place to store my things. I have only had the unit for three months, and the price went up. The sad part is they charged me 80.00 dollars more than what I was paying. I am now looking for another storage unit because this significant price jump does not make sense. Extra Space have friendly people working, but the prices are very high to rent. They get you in at a low rate and then up their prices on their units once you are settled in. Although I have cancer, I need to find a storage unit that does the opposite of Extra Space Storage. read more

They started off good with a good price but after about a year you will see them go up continuously. The customer service is pretty good but they have a rat problem that has been a complaint of several units. I bought it to their attention some months ago when my step dad noticed the pallets all over the floor and when I had the junk people come move my stuff out I was only able to salvage some pictures, all my furniture and clothes were covered in rat droppings and eaten up. All they had to say was yeah that happens sometimes.. like wtf!! My biggest issue is if this is a well documented issue why don't they get an exterminator to get out to prevent it from happening instead of just taking peoples money. I tried renting from a different extra space storage but the one on Jamestown is rat infested. This was the next closest storage facility that had plenty of available spaces. There is a reason they have so many availabilities. No one in their right mind would store any valuables here. I didn't even need to go into the office. I saw someone open their locker as soon as I got there and a whole family of rats ran out into the street. They should just change the name from extra space storage to the rat hotel. read more

This place is a HUGE TRAP, do not rent a storage unit from this place. Lets start at the beginning. First, there are two huge banners attached to the building that state the first month is free. When I asked for the discount the sales clerk said it did not apply to this location. I asked than why were the two banners installed. Answer: It brings in business and the District Manager said to keep it up. So, OK a little disappointing with the false advertising but I really needed a place close to UoP. The next step was to assign me a 10X15 unit for a crazy price of $175 a month, after the sales clerk gave me a unit number I walked into the complex to find it. I finally found it after walking down a narrow dark hallway I came to a dungeon looking place. I walked back to the front office and said that location did not work as I had large pieces of furniture and they could not fit around the turns in the narrow hallway. She said no problem, they had another one the same size but it was $249 a month plus a transfer fee. I asked her why she was adding a transfer fee and she looked at me like was crazy and said" well you are transferring units sir". I told her I never accepted the first unit and she was crazy if she thought I was going to pay a transfer fee to a unit i never even moved into. Anyway, she was able to work it out and she increased my monthly rate $249 a month unit. I only needed it for one month so I accepted. After one month I moved out and the sales clerk printed up a invoice. The invoice had a $34.65 late fee charged on it. I am not kidding!!! I prepaid $249 plus application fees for my unit on May 6, 2017, was charged a late fee 11 days later on May 17, 2017, and I moved out June 6, 2017. The clerk was: I dont know what happend, I will get back to you" As of 6/15/2017 I still do not have the late fee cleaned up. when you read reviews sometimes you listen and sometimes not. I hope by telling you about this place will save you a lot of money, time, and problems. There are a ton of places to rent from in Stockton, DONT RENT FROM THIS ONE!!!!! read more
