I too am a DirecTV customer and signed up through New Star. I had a very different experience with…read moreboth DirecTv and NewStar. I was having trouble with getting my elderly V.A uncle used to where his channels were at (we get so many more than DISH! and channels we actually watch). I lost my paperwork and couldn't find the number for NewStar and just searched for the DirecTv number online. I called into DiredTv wanting some help with figuring out what to do and I could barely understand the agent on the line (language barrier) and they basically said they would have to send a technician out to me and it would cost me $40-$99. I declined, because I just don't have the money for that. Thought I was just stuck and very dissapointed. One week later I got a follow up call from NewStar just to see how I was liking my New DirecTv sytem. Let me say I am pretty embarrassed at how I treated the young lady on the phone. I vented and was very upset and she didn't interrupt me even once! She listen ACTUALLY LISTENED. Then she fixed it all right over the phone, I didn't even need a technician and that saved me time and money right there! She went through step by step with my uncle of making a favorites list and with the protection plan I had got from them they were able to send me out a remote that fit my uncles needs even better, for free ($15 plus shipping if I didn't have that protection plan). Remote got to us in 2 days and they had already setup a favorites list with my uncle and he was happier than he had ever been in his 80 years of different tv services (he is now deceased). I wish I had the name of that young lady and I hope she sees this review. To that agent if you do see this review I want to thank you and apologize again for how poorly I treated you on the phone. The main thing I have learned through this experience is to go through a authorized dealer for anything I can! Even when I didn't know it they had my back, THANK YOU New Star!!!!!

Dealing with Airtime Satellite has easily been one of the WORST customer service experiences of my…read morelife. A representative knocked on our door one afternoon saying that he wanted to save us money on our TV bill. He asked what we like to watch and glanced at our Dish equipment. He then quoted us a monthly price well under what we were paying, if we switched to DirectTV. We agreed and they had a tech out to the house later that day. The tech knew NOTHING. We asked multiple questions regarding the package we would have and the equipment. He just said we had to talk to the salesman. The only question he answered was regarding the remote control. Later that day, we discovered that the equipment they gave us included a DVR - something we were never asked about and did not want due to the extra monthly charges. When we called Airtime to complain and ask them to come and switch out the receivers, they told us they couldn't help us and that we had to contact DirectTV directly, which has turned into a total fiasco. It was Airtime's error and they offered zero support after they got their money from us. We will NEVER deal with these jokers again. Shady and no support after the sale! Don't walk; run!

The saleman told us that we could have Internet service included if we switched from Direct TV to Dish. I called to have an Internet installed a week later but was informed that Internet could not be possible because it does not run into my area. At first, they said they would do something to compromise. About a week later I was informed that that Internet was not part of the deal as promised and since I signed a 24-month contract, I could not end the agreement! They refused to acknowledge what the saleman told me and said they have no responsibility for what their people say! Oh...and that their saleman was no longer with them...was that meant to be comforting?! I called Dish directly 2-months later to speak with an excutive to explain what happened. They were sorry about the misinformation. Dish agreed to terminate the contract and forget the fee. I paid Dish for the service time used. Approxiamately 2-weeks later, I get a "Termination Fee" letter from Airtime Cellular for $300.00. Now, I have received an order from a court to pay $700.00...lawyer fees, court, fees, whatever they could do to get money, money, money! As a side note, my neighbor had the same issue and Airtime Cellular allowed him to drop Dish without a termination fee!!!??? I know of others in our community who have had the same thing happen. They tried to cancel because they were promised Internet. One lady cancelled her existing Internet service and had to pay a re-connect fee! Also, their sales person did not have a permit to go door-to-door! If you want to get Dish, call the company directly to order and not a third party company like Airtime Cellular and Satellite. BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE!
