I watched him from time to time as he worked and observed how he handled my vehicle and parts with care which is a huge plus. He was also friendly and had no issues answering questions. Kumar the manager was also great. I spoke with him via phone before taking my vehicle in and he was very professional and informative. I was able to drop in and speak directly with the mechanic (Omar) who is new here but who I know from past experience at a different station. I'm at diagnosed the problem and estimated how long it would take to repair. We agreed on a convenient day and time for me to bring it in and then we went to the service desk where the service advisor confirmed the price with me and ordered the parts. On the day I dropped the car off for service, all went smoothly and since I was picking up the vehicle after 6 I was able to make payment and get the keys from the front desk staff person after showing proof that I was the vehicle owner. I REALLY liked that last extra security check. The repair solved my issue and the cost was fair. They were able to get the part the same day so if I wanted, the repair probably could have been done the same afternoon or the next morning but since it wasn't an emergency I scheduled it at a more convenient time for me. I will definitely return here for all my future maintenance and repairs. They have 2 different gas prices, cash and credit. Cash is cheaper than credit, so if you don't have cash in your wallet, just use your debit card which works the same way. This gas station is pretty clean. There aren't many people here. We never have to wait for a gas pump. My husband likes coming here for that reason and because it's on his way home from work. What use to be a Gulf station is now an Exxon. Been coming here for an oil change for years and never had a problem. I usually get the synthetic oil so I don't have to come back often. Usually runs me about $79.95 plus tax, which is expensive but you get what you pay for. Small place with four car lifts. Open 7 days a week. Gas is usually expensive compared to other stations but it's conveniently located on Union Turnpike with 8 brand new gas pumps. They sell snacks, beverages, cigarettes, coffee and lotto. Warning to all women- do not come here for your inspection. They are looking for extra work to make $$. I came here last week to have my car inspected due to the fact that this station was offering free inspection for people who received the covid vaccine. The guy behind the counter told me it would be half an hour. When I came back the inspection was still not finished. 10 minutes later the guy told me that the car won't pass inspection due to the age of the tire (2015). He told me the tire would be $99 and with labor it would be $140. I told him that the last time I ordered a tire it was $80 on discount tire direct which led him to bring down the price. I told him I would pass on the tire because I know that the age of the tire does not matter when it comes to passing inspection. I knew he was lying and was looking to make some $ off me due to the fact that I'm a woman. Luckily, with the covid vaccine offer I was able to just leave. I came to Nor-Crest Service Station to do annual inspection. The check engine light was on and Sam the manger told me that I will have to pay $20 to do a test, I said OK. They checked for 2 minutes and then Sam said I will have to pay another $20 to do another test, Why did you suck me for another $20 and didn't tell me in the beginning?. Reluctantly I agree. While they were testing again I decided to check them on Yelp ( what I should have done in the beginning) and found up that I was not their first sucker and the have less then 2 stars . When I asked Sam about it he answer that he doesn't care about his reputation and everybody in this business is dishonest. ((give him credit for being honest about being dishonest.) I did my last oil change at this gas station. I went in to do another one this time with my own oil and filter to make sure I am getting better quality material. They couldn't get the plug out and ruined the head. I came back the next day like they told me to see if another mechanic can do it. It took him some time and he did. Then the manager tried blaming it on wear and tear, that the oil pan was stripped and it wasn't anything to do with the bolt or how they put it in last time. Then he tried charging me $12 to replace the bolt. When I told him that he should cover it since he did the last oil change he got mad and said if I don't pay it I can never get an oil change there again. Stay away. Let me say that I felt the shenanigans bug crawl up my pants when I asked about the problem where my car was making more noise when I drove at higher speeds. They told me to leave the car and I did. They offered to replace the muffler, change the AC compressor and change the gears compressor. All this was only $1800~! WHAT?!?!? That is not cheap! I felt the twinge of something not right and I decided try just changing the muffler. But this sounded like they weren't exactly sure what is making the car louder at higher speeds. I've been going here for 10+ years, with various cars. I understand what the other reviewers are saying, but i'm sure you'd find that issue with most mechanics. What I've learned with them, through trial and error, they might charge a little more than market rate for parts, but it comes with a warranty and every issue that I've ever had with my cars, they're usually spot on with (i've taken cars to multiple places just to make sure they were keeping it honest with me). I don't understand WHY there are bad reviews at all for this place. I have been a regular customer here for years, and am an employee at the next door establishment. Sam and his staff are a bunch of incredible people, and it shows in their work. This place is a lot cheaper than many competitors, and Sam is not the type of person to take advantage of anyone. I do notice someone's review stated "come here if you wanna get robbed"... SOOO NOT THE CASE!!!! Stopped going to these guys about five years ago. They were only a few blocks from my house, so using them seemed like a good idea at the time. I was mistaken. Said I needed some kind of brake repair every time I went for an inspection. Told me that there was fluid leaking from my struts- an old trick used by rip-off service stations. "Repaired" my AC, and when there was a major issue with the AC a few months later, told me that it was not their responsibility- the problem did not have anything to do with their repairs, and charged me about $2,000 for the new work. I am somewhat passive at times, but I actually lost it when handed the bill. Did not get the bill reduced- they offered me a small coupon for future service. I won't even buy gas from this station when the prices are decent. I would never advise going to these guys for any kind of repair or inspection. You have been warned. read more

Background: Mech engineer w/ decades of electrical engineering. Called Nor-Crest and asked how long it would take for an inspection, the individual that answered the phone said that there'd be a 45 minute wait. That was acceptable to me, so I arrived, and gave them my car after they'd said it would take 60-90 minutes till they're done. Nor-Crest: "The brakes are low, and the front tires are low, but pass-able." Me: "Ok, I appreciate your honesty. Can you perform an oil change too?" Nor-Crest: "Absolutely, and I'd recommend at least rotating your tires." Me: "That sounds like a good plan" 30 minutes later. Nor-Crest: "Your car is ready, please come pick it up" And that was it! Shady! Buyer beware! I took my car in to get an oil change and inspection and was told it should be ready in about 45 minutes. Over an hour and a half later I received a call saying that I won't pass NY state inspection because my tires are worn out. Knowing from previous research that they charge a lot for tires, I said, "No thanks, just the oil change is fine". He then proceeded to say that I still needed to be charged $37 for the inspection because it was run, even though I didn't pass it. I questioned that and he countered by saying if I get my brakes changed he could pass the inspection. I said, "Wait a minute, I thought you said it wouldn't pass because of the tires. Now you're telling me it's the brakes. Which is it?" He replied with, "Well because you're a neighbor I can do you a favor." I declined. When I went to pick up the car, I was charged only for the oil change. I wonder what happened to me having to pay the inspection fee? Keep your story straight. I got my tires rotated. One month later I notice the tire lock was not there. I brought the car back. The manager accused me of not having it on when I brought the car in. But I was never informed of the missing tire lock when the car was returned to me. Then he accuse me of bringing the car for work else where. I told him I only get my car service there. I went for state inspection and they pulled the typical crap: we will inspect and call you back. 2 hours later they called and came up with expensive repairs and tire changes, which I didn't need.
