First off, the bathrooms are legendary for a reason--hands down the cleanest, most private, and most abundant stalls and urinals you will ever find on the highway. Outside, the sheer number of gas pumps means you never have to wait, and they even have a great car wash on-site. Inside, it feels like walking into a massive, one-stop-shop mall. If you need it--or if you forgot to pack it--they have it. They're selling everything from outdoor gear, deer stands, and lawn chairs to high-end Ray-Ban sunglasses and beautiful home decor. Then there's the food. You can smell the roasted pecans and smoked meats the second you walk in. The chopped brisket sandwiches are amazing, and the snack selection is endless--wall-to-wall jerky, fudge, and every road trip snack you could ever long for. Despite how busy it gets, the staff is always incredibly friendly, helpful, and fast. Everything is a fantastic value for the quality you get. Closest gas station to the airport…read more I really like the Austin airport as everything is there so close by. Unlike a larger airport with a long bus ride away to the rental car place, rental car return is right across the terminal and a gas station is two minutes away. I drove by here once as I couldn't figure out the entrance. I passed it first then used a phone GPS to guide me here. It looks like this parking lot is also used as a cell phone lot and they have a small panel showing the flight status in front of this gas station. I think having a gas station/store access while waiting makes it nice. Price of the gas is about 20-30 cents higher than those nearby. Nothing that outrageously overpriced. Gas pump was clean and easy to operate. Receipt printed at the pump for convenience. Plenty of gas pumps are available and I didn't have to wait at all. Once you exit the gas station and back to the main road for the airport, rental car return lane is all the way to your left. Make it to the left lane quickly as rental car return entrance is very close. Even if you miss the turn, circling around the terminal only takes less than 5 minutes.
