I walked in and saw to the right their eye glass displays and asked to bump my initial appointment from ophthalmology to optometry and although there was a slight hesitation due to a couple reasons one of them being making two appointments into one. The staff was professional, wait time was no more than 5 to 7 mins at least that's how it felt to me. Saw the doctor, we went over the reasons for my appointment, she paid attention, and listened well. I asked if she could test me for new eyeglasses and she did say Yes but only after she evaluated the issues I had with my eyes. With a green light and in less than 10 minutes I was choosing my new frames and sun glasses but not before I met her furry child, dogs make my day. This was on a Friday and by Monday morning I picked up my first pair of three and by Wednesday the rest of my eyeglasses were ready. That was impressive. I honestly thought I would have to wait 15 to 20 days for my new eyeglasses and on top of that deal with issues such as lenses falling out of their frames and I say this because my husband had to wait 20 days and his lens was loose from its frame which lead him to take them back to the optometrist and wait 7 more days for repair. I had never seen such incompetence in the USA but quality and service his no longer of interest just money. However as a client you have the power to choose your service provider not the other way around. I don't settle for less than what I want and need and this place said Yes to my expectations. The doctors and front staff are the BEST! I had a great appointment with Dr. Sylvie El Hage. She was super attentive during my exam, explained every procedure and results. It was my first time trying contacts and Abby, showed me to put them on and removed them, step by step. The best part, their boutique is perfect! They have various brands like Marc Jacobs, Gucci, Tom Ford, etc etc. They also have other brands that are still fashionable not like other places. Overpaid even with insurance and a 6 month supply of contacts for $170 and also a dry eye exam that costs $150 (that was later paid by my insurance, so they got paid twice), all for just to tell me to use eye drops and take an eye vitamin that you can only get from them for another $150. I was so glad to make an appointment the day of. I called prior to give my insurance information, only to find out the receptionist doesn't even have my name and basic info that provided on ZocDoc three hours ago.... Then at my arrival, the receptionist didn't even verify my insurance yet, which only led me to wait. Not only did I wait, she admitted she lost the paper she wrote all my info down with my insurance information...oh boy! I didn't realize I had the last appointment slot so you can tell they were ready to leave. The doctor got me in and out. I felt sort of rushed, but to be honest I'm not a problematic patient. I just needed my annual exam to ensure my health and that's it. The doctor was extremely nice and personal when time allowed it to be though. Eh, kind of torn about this place. I made an appointment through Zocdoc and when I arrived, the woman at the front said I didn't have anything. They were still able to see me, but i don't understand how I was sent TWO confirmation texts but still had no appointment? She was also terribly unprofessional. I've worked in retail and hospitality for a long time, and you NEVER tell the customer how tired and hungry you are. She kept telling me she's been working all day with no break and that's why she might be tired. Yeah, it sucks, but I really didn't need to know that. The actuaully Optomotrist, Dr. Hage, was very nice. Super professional and really took her time to figure out the perfect prescription. I was in need of a new optometrist since my last one wasn't very good. I stumbled upon Dr. Sylvie El Hage on ZocDoc and saw that she had amazing reviews. Additionally, her clinic is located in a good location and she provides convenient appointment times. So I booked my appointment and filled out all the necessary forms on ZocDoc. Upon my arrival, the staff at the front desk was very friendly. I only had to sign two documents and was seen within 10 minutes of arrival. My first experience with Dr. Sylvie El Hage was EXCELLENT! I must say that being in the medical field, I'm very critical of providers and their beside manner. But Dr. Sylvie El Hage has exceptional bedside manner! She is extremely personable and a true pleasure to speak to. She is very knowledgeable and will take the time to thoroughly explain each of the exams she conducts and the results she finds. In fact, she found that my previous prescription was over-correcting my vision... a finding that I was aware but that my previously optometrist dismissed. So I was very happy Dr. Sylvie El Hage identified it and was in agreement that my previous prescription was inappropriate. When it was time to pick out frames, she and I spoke the same language (and I'm a guy with a very picky sense of fashion when it comes to eye glasses). She knew I wanted something fashionable but not too pricey. She really took the time to go through the different frames with me and provide her honest feedback on how they looked. It was nice to have an optometrist that wasn't there to sell me the most expensive frame but rather, find a pair that really looked good on me and one that I would love. When I started experiencing sudden vision changes, I logged into ZocDoc and found them listed with several other vision centers based on distance from my job, but the reviews and, honestly, the picture of Dr. Sylvie featured, I was sold and filled out an appointment request form right then. I was contacted shortly after by Rosa, the sweetest woman ever, by phone to confirm the appointment details and insurance information. When I arrived for my appointment, she was at the front desk, signed me in, took care of patient registration professionally and promptly. She was extremely knowledgeable and able to answer all of my questions, informed me of their state-of-the-art equipment in order to assist in my decision of which test to use (they offer multiple), and assured this nervous, first-timer that all was well and I had nothing to worry or be nervous about. Honestly, her genuine and sweet demeanor was the biggest calming factor. With Rosa at the front of the office, I was able to have an immediate feeling of welcoming, warmth, and comfortability. I've only met Abby at the front desk twice but she, too, is extremely sweet and helpful. Dr. Sylvie, the Optometrist at Eye Care Associates, closes the package deal. She is young, driven, extremely beautiful, knowledgeable, passionate, and FUNNY! Though, even with all of these traits she incorporates into each visit, I have to say my favorite quality of hers is how personable she is. The first time we met, it took about three minutes before it felt as if we had known each other for years as friends. However, she is a straight shooter when she needs to be and will tell you how it is if you fess up to doing something she doesn't agree with or is a well known "no-no" in vision safety. She knows what's she talking about and get's down to business in a perfected professional manner. Another reason why you should choose Eye Care Associates is that of Dr. Sylvie's father, who started the company and has since retired, but has a professional biography and background that will blow you away! He's tenured, a world renown expert in the field, innovator of new and advanced vision technology and, if I had to guess, probably the smartest person on the planet. It is no surprise that his daughter, Dr. Sylvie, is as professional and knowledgeable as she is. In my opinion, the father-daughter team has certainly solidified the notion that they are Houston's leaders in vision science and eye care treatment. So, with the staff, their implemented and non-invasive state-of-the-art equipment, BEAUTIFUL office, both doctor's knowledge and background, and office environment, it is a no brainer when choosing them for your vision needs. To elaborate on their office, although the exterior doesn't look like much, just wait until you step through the front door. Talk about a different world! OH, by the way, the frame room is every shopaholic's dream! It is gorgeously set-up and arranged to display the frames that Dr. Sylvie individually hand picks from leading, top-of-the-line, and the "who's who" of frame manufacturer's in the fashion industry! I hate writing bad reviews...no really I do. I have been wearing contact since 5th or 6th grade, so I pretty much have the drill down pat. Go in, get checked out, fork over about $100, and viola, I can see again! --Leave, come back in a year, repeat over and over again, until I die, or go get lasik, which hopefully will be within the next year. Last week I found myself in a pickle being that my LAST pair of contacts tore, and I needed an emergency eye exam. Looked up the closest eye doctor on my insurance, and came across Dr. Sami El Hage at Eye Care Associates on Richmond. Called, she said sure, come right in. Went in, got a bit of a lecture for not having a backup, (hey, my old eye doctor was in DC) and he ran me through every test possible. Over an hour later he fit me with contacts, and insisted I get some eye drops for dry eyes. (I had never had dry eyes in my life) I passed on the eye drops (more money!) and was told to come back in a week to see how I was doing with the contacts. $125.00 for contacts and doctors visit WITH insurance. Okay, i thought a bit more expensive that I am used to paying, but whatever. A week later I come in so he could check how the new contacts were doing, and I was out of there in 10 minutes. The assistant says okay that will be $45 for the doctor visit. Whaaaa? All he did was look at my eye ball for one minute and tell me the contacts were okay. Really not cool, then they told me that I should take the eye drops, and come back in a month for anothers doctors visit. Really? So I can pay YET ANOTHER $45? Total Rip. read more

I had the EXACT same experience as Sonia T. Went in for a routine eye exam and wound up getting every test they had even though half the machines tested for the exact same thing. I paid $100 out of pocket and the doctor explained that everything else is covered by insurance. A week ago I got a bill from my insurance company stating that I have to pay over $700 AFTER the insurance covered the rest! I have never had a medical bill this large in my life! In addition, the doctor told me I had dry eyes as well and proceeded to cram his thumb in my eyeball to "milk" them. Overall a horrible experience and I would also suspect that they are milking the insurance system for every penny. BTW, I also got a lecture about not having a pair of backup eyeglasses... read more

This guy is an absolute crook. Be prepared for him to bring you back a half dozen times (making good $ off of your insurance each time) to deal with the dry-eye problem that you are gauraunteed to have. Oh, if (and only if) his sunglasses supplier happens to be there when you have your appointment, he will make sure to stress to you the absolute dire need for a pair of the $750 sunglasses he sells there. It will be his professional medical opinion that you absolutely need these sunglasses. If his sunglasses supplier is NOT there, there will be no mention of you needing sunglasses whatsoever. I finally dropped this clown like a bag of dirt after the sunglasses fiasco and went to an honest eye doctor @ Berkeley Eye Care, whereby my dry-eye condition must have magically healed itself because my new doctor made no mention of it. read more

The after service is bad. Will only provide prescriptions after you pick up your glassess. Most optometrist provides instantly. Never have that problem, ever. Going to another optometrist for a second opinion. Bummer, used up my annual insurance check up and have wasted on the first glasses. After checking with other optometrists, the diagnosis is quite close. So I have to say the eye doctors are pretty good but I have to emphasis again that reception services was bad because she picked up glasses in a pile that endangered my child's nose and eyes. My experience with Dr. Sylvie El Hage's office was nothing short of wonderful, from the minute I scheduled my appointment to the moment I left the office. I found Dr. Sylvie's office on ZocDoc on a Thursday and had an appointment for that upcoming Saturday. Unfortunately, the time I selected on ZocDoc was not available, but that was not a problem as the office contacted me the very next day with a new time that was actually thirty minutes earlier than my original appointment. When I arrived, parking was easy to find and I was given my new patient paperwork (which was one page, front and back). The office uses the OPTOMAP technology to take a picture of your retina (extra $39 not covered by insurance which I picked) but you are still welcome to pick standard dilation when given your new patient paperwork. Once I finished my paperwork, I waited in the waiting room for about 10 minutes. Once seated in my exam room, Dr. Sylvie followed within minutes. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Sylvie. From the time we met until the end of my visit, she was kind, caring, highly knowledgeable and took her time with my visit. Throughout my visit, Dr. Sylvie made sure I knew what was going on and answered any and all questions I had. Once my exam was complete, Dr. Sylvie personally took the time to help me pick my new pair of glasses. There were plenty of options to pick from and we tried on about 20 pairs of glasses before I finally picked. With every pair, Dr. Sylvie was honest about what looked good and what didn't if I asked. Even though I was the last patient, I was being rushed to pick my glasses. Dr. Sylvie made sure we worked with my budget and found the perfect pair of glasses. I have been in Houston for about a year and a half and I am so glad that I have found my new optometrist. I've been seeing Dr. Hage now for over eight years and have always appreciated the extra time he takes to make sure I'm happy with the prescription and the fit of the contacts. He explains everything and is extremely knowledgeable in his field. I've never felt that the extra appointments are a waste of time since my eyes are very important to me. I feel that he cares as much as I do that my eyes stay in good health and goes above and beyond to ensure just that. A lot of doctors out there want you in and out without taking the extra time to make sure you are happy. I have EXTREMELY dry eyes and was never able to wear contact lenses. These doctors specialize in dry eyes. They provide a variety of top contact lenses that actually keep your eyes from drying out. Dr. Sylvie El Hage is actually a wonderful optometrist. She is extraordinarily patient and very meticulous, while being very personable and kind, with a fantastic sense of humor. Due to my horrible experience at a previous optometrist's last time, I am not an easy client. In fact, I was embarrassed that I was such pain but couldn't help myself. But she never made me feel like a nuisance at all, which just made me like her more. In addition, she applied no pressure to buy glasses or other products. At the last place I went, not only did they get my prescription wrong (that I discovered later after fighting to get my prescription and lots of $ at a different place with what turned out to be the wrong prescription), there was this immense, uncomfortable pressure to buy expensive glasses, any glasses. However, Dr. Sylvie made me feel the opposite here. She gave me my eye prescription plus the contact lenses samples I had asked for, but did not push anything else and neither did her staff. Which, quite honestly, has helped me decide that I'm going to go back to her to get my sunglass lenses fixed and possibly new glasses (that I do think I need). I decided to try a new optometrist after getting a recommendation by a close friend. The checkup was great as Dr. El Hage explained everything she was doing and was very patient. I guess I'm getting older and my eyes stop changing but it was good to do. The best part came after the eye exam...choosing new glasses. I'm a guy and we usually aren't very good at this stuff.
