I'm so upset at this place. I had my eye exam two weeks ago when I asked for my prescription since I was not gonna order my glasses with them the girl told me she was gonna email it to me. Never got it. I had to call. Now I get the prescription two weeks later And they don't give me the PD number. When I call and ask for it, they're like oh you need to come back and pay $20 so we can give you that. I was there last year and I had no problem getting that number and now they're charging $20 to get your PD number which should be part of your eye exam. As much as I like the Doctor, I am not coming back...... Customer service here is very poor and they definitely do not care about the customer. Losing a customer for a $20 service fee This should've been mentioned when I was there doing my exam. I would've been happy to pay for it but no two weeks later. Exams are standard. Equipment is modern. However after care..... they require you to accept all those bothersome texts regarding your appointment . If you opt out you will never know when your glasses arrive. So i am one to opt out of those texts and my glasses sat until I called to check. They were ready and waiting. Bad business. read more

I had an eye exam, doctor didn't ask me any questions or concerns that I had, visit was 5 minutes max, which is fine. Just felt like a doctor would be more invested. Ended up getting glasses and the lenses came back extremely distorted - I couldn't see at all. I visited with the woman who fits the glasses, told myself I was ready to pay $500-$600 for another pair, whatever it took to fix this problem. She told me there was nothing wrong with them and didn't offer any solutions. I was extremely distraught because I'm about to have my first baby and needed them to take care of her. I ended up leaving in tears because I really needed the help and felt so dismissed. I went to Warby Parker and they offered me at least 3 different solutions, as well as had me try different pairs and talk through what I was seeing. Customer service is nonexistent here and the treatment actually felt slightly cruel. There are lots of great eye doctors in Houston - no reason to choose this one. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I went to Dr. Howard at Memorial Park Vision for a routine eye exam and ended up with a prescription that was so off I might as well have been looking through a kaleidoscope. When I brought up the issue, the response was less "Let's fix this" and more "How dare you question my expertise?" After two additional visits to sort out the mess, I finally got the correct prescription from a different doctor. You'd think that would be the end of it, but nope! The cherry on top was a letter from the clinic saying, "Don't come back." It was the professional equivalent of "You can't fire me. I quit!" Seriously, if you value your eyesight and your sanity, avoid this place. This is my go to eye doctor because from the front desk staff to the doctors everyone is super nice, professional, never in a hurry and always super chill. When booking appointments know that they hook you up pretty fast and they're open on Saturdays! Check. Check. On my yearly visit I noticed that they had GoodR sunglasses. Wanted to get these glasses for exercising. Been looking for this brand in Houston forever and this location has an amazing selection located at the front desk. The staff was pretty helpful in finding the perfect pair of glasses for my face and they went through their inventory to make sure I got a brand new pair versus the sample ones upfront. Quite upset right now. I've been buying all my prescription glasses and frames from Memorial Park Vision for more than 10 years. I lost a screw on a very expensive, black titanium, Oliver Peoples frame and came in for a repair. All I get from them is that they don't have a screw to match. No effort whatsoever to provide a proper fix. Also, no one available to report a complaint. EDIT: as soon as I arrived home I was able to very easily order the correct screw for my frame from the Luxottica website. This makes me even more upset at the poor service from Memorial Park Vision. Confused, I told them I wanted to buy glasses and they said that would have to be a separate transaction. Fine by me. I made my appointment about a week in advance for the first available doctor. I arrived about 5 minutes before my scheduled time and they reception was quick to get me checked in and waiting for my appointment. The eye tests technology is more advanced than any other office I have been to in the past few years. I have troubles opening my eyelids wide open for certain tests, but the new technology has made it easier for me to get them done and assessed by the staff. The opthamologist looked over the eye tests and went over the information they found. The contact lens fitting exam was traditional and they answered any question or concerns I had. Went in for the first visit with me and my sister , we asked to be help at the same time and the staff had no issues with that. Israel walked me through my first time taking pictures of my eyes I felt like I was making it harder than it was but he was very patient with me and very kind. Dr. K was very fast and efficient. I was blown away by the customer service here. My experience here was a thousand times better than my experience at Pearle Vision in the Galleria! Dr. Howard is super nice and Roni was really helpful when I was trying on glasses and recommended a few of her favorites for me to try! They had chocolate out and I hadn't eaten breakfast yet so I ate a few pieces before my appointment. Instead of a puff of air to check for glaucoma, they have a picture of a farm house that you look at which makes for a much more comfortable experience. Dr. Howard examined the health of my eyes very thoroughly with a variety of tests. I wear contacts and I have problems with dry and red eyes with my current lenses so she gave me a new pair to try out. I have also always wanted to try the Acuvue Oasys with Hydraclear so she gave me a second pair to try as well! I will be back for my follow up appointment in a week to see how my lenses are working out. I have to say that this is the best eye doctor I have ever been to! It's located in a shopping center on Memorial Dr. close to Memorial Park and all the equipment is sanitized before each exam. The prescription for me and my wife didn't working. The two pairs of glasses were technically checked, reaching the conclusion of repeating the exam. This first trial was not reliable for us and we decided to return the two pairs of glasses immediately one day after receiving them. Dr. Howard & the other doctors are great and thorough with their eye exams. Great service from the doctors, but the people at the front desk never listen and waste your time. Last year I ordered eye contacts through them, they shipped me 8 boxes of only one eye instead of 4 boxes for each eye. Even though I repeat my order back multiple times still got it wrong. Now for this year, the sent the right # of boxes BUT FROM A DIFFERENT BRAND OF CONTACTS. Again, even though I repeated my order back to them multiple times! The front desk people always sound so annoyed and are quick to be like "yup, yup, I got it" even though they don't. It's like they just want you to shut up and not even care to listen or actually do their jobs correctly. Staff, technician and the optometrist Nancy Heine are very friendly. However, wrong prescription was made for me. There was a large change in the axis for my right eye compared with that of my previous glasses. I got a new pair of glasses using this new prescription. With this new pair, the entire world is tilted. A square object is no longer square and the right side turns into a trapezoid. The lens correctly followed the prescription, but the prescription was wrong. I'm quite disappointed in the professionalism of the optometrist. read more

Fantastic experience. The staff listen to any concerns you have and are quick to answer questions and walk you through each of the tests prior to them being administered. The examination is thorough and they have a great range of frames in a number of price ranges... from the affordable to the not so affordable (*cough cough Lindberg) and they can order in different colors or styles if there isn't something there you completely love. Where do I begin? I moved to Houston, Texas from near Philadelphia and decided I needed to have an eye exam. Dr. Howard was my first eye exam in 25 years ( I may have waited a bit too long for my first exam, but it seems I ended up holding out for the best). I can be such a hassle. I am a hypochondriac. My astigmatism qualifies me for the same eye type as a chameleon. I essentially have an orb in my head shaped like a melon, and another that looks closer to a banana. And through it all, Roni, Dr. Howard, and the rest of the folks here have been more than understanding. They are really customer-service superstars. Recently, I had to have my lenses changed a few times as we worked to figure out the right balance of power and astigmatism correction for my very sensitive eyes. Throughout the whole process, there was zero indication that the staff were sick and tired of me, which I honestly would've expected if this were any other location. Dr. H asked me a few questions about my profession and what I do in my spare time (Read. All the time). Back then, I thought it was just friendly banter, but I realize now that she was trying to get a sense of how often my eyes are used and in what capacity in order to determine the best approach to my health. I needed a new optometrist, so I did some research and searched on Yelp for one. Memorial Park Vision had great ratings, so I decided to call and make an appointment to see Dr. Jessica Howard. I had to reschedule the original appointment, so I called the front desk and the girl I spoke to was very rude and made it seem like she was too busy to help to me. A couple of days later, I realized I forgot to write down the new appointment date/time, so I called and asked for the information. This time, another girl answered the phone and informed me I still had my original appointment time! My appointment had never been rescheduled as confirmed at the end of our conversation. I drive to Memorial during rush hour traffic from the Medical Center. Right as I entered, I had to witness a screaming match between Megan (the girl at the front desk) and a client. The client said that they have never called her back even though they said they would about a $500 refund. After a month of no response, she finally had enough of them not returning her phone calls and went directly to the office. Unfortunately, she still didn't get her refund when she left the office in a huff. She said she was going to report them to the Credit Bureau. Megan informed me that HE will see me shortly. HE?? I thought Jessica Howard was a female. She told me Dr. Howard is on maternity leave and Dr. Salazar will see me. Are you kidding me??!! Why wasn't I informed that I wasn't going to see Dr. Howard when I called to make my appointment? I did my research and wanted to see Dr. Howard and not some random guy. I told her I only wanted to see Dr. Howard and left. I am sure Dr. Howard is good at what she does, but I will not be back at that office based on my experience there with the front desk staff. They are unprofessional and cannot fulfill simple requests such as changing my appointment or informing me that I will be seeing another person. Went here for the first time this past weekend and much like previous reviewers, the experience was fantastic! Office staff are friendly and easygoing and Dr. Dana Howard was wonderful! She was easy to talk to, made the process quick and was thorough in her evaluation to make sure I was comfortable with my current contact lenses. The office itself was extremely neat, clean, and spacious. They have a large selection of frames to choose from so it took me some time to look through them all. The office staff was extremely helpful in my selection process (I am the worst decision maker ever) and not once did I feel pressured to choose expensive frames or have someone hover over me while I make up my mind. Combine glowing recommendations from my roommate and Yelp and you can pretty much guarantee that I'm going to visit that establishment. When I first saw the doctor, I thought "Oh wow, you're really pretty. Crap. I hope you're a good doctor." She was very thorough and explained everything very well. Her manner is congenial and you don't feel rushed. At one point, I didn't realize the glass had fogged up on the preference thing (1 or 2), and I couldn't see anything. After I realized that, she wiped away the condensation and the exam went off without a hitch. I love that you can schedule appointments online and you can fill out the New Patient data online as well. I really appreciate that she's open on Saturdays as well. The only problem here is the price. You definitely can't buy a pair of glasses if you're on a budget. My insurance said there was a $20 co-pay for the exam, but I didn't realize that for the contact curvature fitting I'd have to pay an extra $60. I fell in love with some frames as I waited for my eyes to dialate and I ended up grabbing some pretty pricy frames. That's entirely my own fault. They added polycarbonate lenses and anti-glare without consulting me. I actually prefer both since polycarbonate is more scratch-resistant and anti-glare helps me out at work, but I would have liked it if they had asked me before assuming that I would like the extra options. The staff didn't offer a pair of wrap-around sunglasses like my previous eye doc after I left the appointment with dialated eyes. Luckily, I had a pair of extra safety sunglasses in the car that were a very dark tint. I'd recommend keeping a pair of sunglasses with you if you intend on getting your eyes dialated. read more

From eye exam to handling the vision insurance, I was happy with the experience. The office is modern and elegant--no five year old Newsweeks. Chose this optometrist based on the reviews here on Yelp and ZocDoc. First off I want to say that my experience here was good all in all. Most of my complaints are small and nothing major for the most part. Made an appt with Dr. Howard in the late afternoon and showed up a few minutes early, parking was simple. Check in was great and I'm glad they have online forms as it's much easier to deal with than filling out paperwork. I had to wait about 15 minutes which isn't too bad but I was seen by another Optometrist other than Dr. Howard. This wasn't really an issue because the Dr. I did see was fantastic and thorough, her name escapes me, but a heads up would have been nice. I picked out some frames, Oliver Peoples, and getting them priced through my insurance was easy and hassle free. I kind of wish they could order frames outside of the lines they carry for a broader selection but again, not a major issue. They even offered to give me my prescription to take elsewhere if I didn't find something I liked, which I found odd seeing as they were sending business elsewhere. I thought the point is to be a one stop shop for all my needs but that's besides the point. It took a little over two weeks to get my glasses which is the main reason for the 3 star instead of 5. One of my lenses was on back order but they didn't call me to let me know it would take more than the estimated time frame, which is already long enough at two weeks. I'm used to a one week turn around and being given courtesy calls should anything change. I had to call them at the two week mark to find out what was taking so long, which I shouldn't have to do. Received my glasses the following week, tried them on and they fit and felt great. I walked in and out today (3/17/15) and love my new glasses. Again, my issues were minor for the most part, the courtesy call was a major issue for me though. Customer service trumps everything else in my book. I would give this optometrist another go though, as I said, my overall experience was good. The ladies that I've had a pleasure to meet here (Roni and Dr. Howard) are extremely helpful and friendly. I wasn't even due for my annual eye exam yet, but due to some unfortunate and extremely negative, stressful experiences with my previous eye doc (no names mentioned..but feel free to read up on what happened in my previous reviews), I luckily landed upon these lovely ladies who came to my rescue during a I-need-to-leave-town-but-I'm-out-of-contacts-TODAY fiasco. Dr. Howard was very very sweet during the entire eye exam and has excellent bedside manner She made me feel very comfortable talking to her the entire time. I like how she is giving me multiple trial options for lenses to see which fits my lifestyle better. Previous docs have only chosen a specific brand for me and in the past that has proved to be more expensive and at times, difficult to order lenses in a timely manner due to some odd-ball prescription. Roni has been beyond helpful in helping me choose glasses, scheduling appointments, and was my savior when I needed to get some same-day trial lenses for when I was traveling out of town even though I wasn't even a patient of Dr. Howards' just yet. This is exactly how a vision experience should be. If you are still floating around trying to find a good eye doc to go to, I recommend coming here. DO IT NOW. You won't regret it. read more
