I'm giving it a 2 because Dr.Pham was very nice and patient. However, the worker (a Hispanic curvy lady) was very impatient, sassy and had a very bad attitude. I was asking if we can see what my insurance would cover the contact lenses and my frames. She was VERY bothered and didn't want to work with me. When I tried to try on one frame, without even trying it on, she's like: "don't put them back, we need to sanitize them. This one, too." and grabbed them immediately. She needed to wear her gloves while giving me eye drops for the sanitizing purpose. I had an amazing experience here! The covid protocols feel very safe. You call the office when you've arrived and they screen you outside to be sure you're not sick, and then take you straight back to the room. I waited less than 10 minutes to see both the technician and the optometrist. The technician was very friendly and explained each procedure as she was doing it. She was also super upfront about pricing options and didn't pressure me into getting tests done that weren't necessary. The optometrist was just as great. And they helped me set up contact delivery to my apartment. I will definitely be returning for my next exams! read more

Executive Summary: Up-to-date equipment, friendly staff, and excellent care. I can "see" this is a good place to have my eye care. Perfect Vision has been a good experience for me as I have been looking for a new local provider. I called and they were able to see me within a few days. I was able to complete my pre-visit paperwork online, which was a huge plus. They take my insurance, another benefit. When I arrived they ran me through the tests in a timely manner. Dr. Henderson did my fitting and exam. She is knowledgeable and gave me a number of good tips. She did a great job of fine-tuning the prescription and I felt comfortable giving her feedback. Dont go any place else. However the Covid protcol was over the top and little obsessive - I understand the concern. However, if you want to know the details on vac, then say "we want to see your vac card and bring all the details" - they wanted all the info and if you dont know it get it ready, a heads up would have been nice. Also, I dont know when you staff was last tested - this felt a little OCD and one sided. Everything else was AMAZING - can I give 6 stars? Dr. Phan was PERFECT. I am high maintaince when it comes to contacts - he was perfect. This is the first place that I visited where I didnt feel like that I did all the work on the eye exam as in other places previously. Dr. Nancy was nice but you only have contact with her for literally 5 minutes. My appointment took a whole 2 hours like i was at a medical dr. visit. i went for my annual eye exam. The whole 2 hours was very unpleasant. They should invest in customer relations and customer rapport because this office has 1% ill give them that. They requested my health insurance card and wanted me to sign off on like 10 different forms... for what? My main issue came in with lil Tweety or Titty (whatever her name is) and her disrespectful personality. I guess she was insulted because she couldnt get any extra money out of me. BEWARE as the consumer you are allowed to ask questions and if they dont like it take your money else where. Nancy its really sad you have these people as the face representing you. I understand that everyone is afraid of COVID, but I spent a LOT of money for good frames & lenses and stopped by to have my glasses adjusted by Thuy, only to find the offices locked but people inside. When I called, they told me that I needed an appointment just to walk in the front door to get my glasses tightened because of COVID! The staff member that I spoke with on the phone was incredibly rude. Dr. Sheryl should be ashamed of her staff! I love Dr. Sheryl Pickering. She has always been very honest and willing to hear my concerns, and I feel that she does a great job and truly enjoys what she does. If you're the kind of person that likes to chat, she and her office staff are all very friendly, I find myself laughing with them once a year (b/c it's an annual eye exam)! I would highly suggest the opto-map. It was previously an out of pocket cost but I still find the value in it and think it is way better than having your eyes dilated. Now don't get me wrong, every time I see the image, I have no Idea what I'm looking for and it's all red & green - and I have that slight moment of OMG what is wrong with my eyes! So don't get freaked when you see the initial image, Dr. Pickering is very good about showing you what each image shows and explaining everything to you. Anyway, since you should be getting an eye appointment every year, this is a great place to spend some time... handling a necessary part of being a human! read more

As much as I liked the Drs. I disliked the staff that worked with glasses. Plus there was always tension in the office. Last year I bought one pair of glasses that I was never able use. They were not right. I have pair of unworn Tom Fords that are crooked and I cannot see out of! The frames did not sit straight. They were also far too big for my face. If I am going to buy glasses that are WRONG for me ... I can do that on the internet! When I questioned the staff I got attitude. My husband went thru the same issues. They were just RUDE to him! Almost ugly. It was like it was our fault. I always bought 2 pair! It is a lot of $! Until the never ending revolving door of staff, and the less that gracious employees are corrected .... I would pass. I hope the DRS. get a grip on this. The Drs. are all very good. We found Eye Impact on Washington. State of the art and great staff! Love Dr too! read more

As I get older (and spend more of my life working/sitting in front of a computer), I have noticed that my eyes get tired in a way they didn't used to. And at a recent conference, I found myself concentrating very hard on the projector to see the slides. It was time for an eye exam. I made an appointment (based on the reviews from you other fabulous yelpers!) and the receptionist scheduled me with Dr. Lo. Dr. Lo herself was great. Very professional, friendly, etc.. and made me feel about as comfortable as you can get with someone squirting drops in your eye. The only issue for me was the staff. When I arrived at the office, one person checked me in, and then another person finished checking me in, then another assistant got me started, after Dr. Lo there was someone else, and they all asked me the EXACT SAME QUESTIONS that I had already answered on the form. It was like there was zero continuity of care throughout the experience. Since I only saw two other patients the entire time I was there, it seems like they could have had a dedicated assistant so I didn't get tossed around so much. Also, they really did not tell me some important info about the experience. Here are some things I wish I had known: 1) An eye exam takes a really long time. You will want to budget at least 1.5 hours. 2) They will dilate your pupils as part of the exam. For several hours afterward, my depth perception was off and everything was a bit blurry. Good thing I didn't have plans that night. 3) Driving home: see above re: depth perception and blurriness. If I lived more than 5 minutes away, I would have felt more comfortable having someone else drive me home. 4) Bring sunglasses. See above re: dilated pupils. They gave me a disposable pair that roll on but they did not stay on my face very well. My own sunglasses would have been much better. Overall it was a good experience and I felt like the doctor was very knowledgeable. However, they need to do a much better job of providing information and setting expectations before the appointment and have better continuity of care. read more

Summary: I would first off say that I was very pleased with the staff. Dr. Lo was excellent and thorough, as well as, the nurse. My rating reflects their pricing. I understand they are a business, but charging $25 for pupillary distance is a little much. Full review below. Nurses: The nurse at the front desk and who did the screening (eye and medical history) were all very friendly. I really wish I got her name - good luck on your applications! :) Optometrist: Dr. Lo took care of me and she was very thorough and very professional. I am also a student, so I asked her many questions and raised concerns about my vision, but she reassured me and answered all my questions with great patience. I have been worried about my vision for a while, so she was great to have as an optometrist. I think that if it weren't for the bogus extra charge, I would have given this place 4, maybe 5 stars. Glasses: Though I did not purchase my frames from here (online is much cheaper), the variety was not as wide as I have seen before. Despite this, they did have a good variety of frame types. Overall - okay. Cost: What I am always surprised about, no matter how much I hear it, is the cost of frames and lenses. Some of these range from $150-400 just for the frames! I would have spent an extra couple of dollars to get glasses straight from the great optometrists and support their business, but that is just TOO MUCH. Then, they charge $25 for the pupillary distance (tools online can measure this, but it is best measured by someone who knows what they are doing). I know that they also need to make money, but give me a break! $25 is a little much. This was more than 50% of the cost of my visit! I think it's ridiculous. I would understand that they add extra for this measurement but it literally took half a minute by the nurse. Overall: I am satisfied with my experience here, but cost is just a huge issue with me, especially something that did not take some fancy big machine with a knowledgable technician. I don't want to end this review on a negative (because overall it was positive). So if you visit, ask for Dr. Lo - she was great!! read more

I have been coming here for about 20 years, which I think is about when they first opened. Drs. Sheryl and Mark Pickering are fabulous and they really take their time with each patient. Several years ago, I had some eye pain (which turned out to be a corneal ulcer). I called on a Friday morning, and I was in to see them in the afternoon. When Dr. Sheryl wanted to check up on it over the weekend, she came in to the office on a Sunday (it is not even usually open then) just to check my eye under the slit lamp to make sure it was improving. I usually see Dr. Mark but he was unavailable at all the times I had requested. I saw Dr. Lo on Saturday morning- which is very convenient for me since I don't have to take off work. She was a lovely young woman and seemed to be very thorough. She had read up on the comments from my last appointment with Dr. Mark which put me at ease and made me feel she was "caught up" on my eye situation. I had things to do that day, like drive, so I opted out of the eye dilation and instead paid the $40 for the fancy machine that takes pictures of the back of your eyes. This was especially awesome because I did not have to wear the glasses and let someone drive and that whole thing. I would recommend Perfect Vision to my friends and family. read more

I haven't yelped in a long time. But this place deserves it. I cannot rave enough - Dr. Sheryl is is super efficient, friendly, clearly knowledgeable and patient - she explains the vision tests she performed (I personally love that), is super meticulous and makes you feel like you are most definitely in the right hands. I feel like they are dedicated to their patients' satisfaction, rather than churning them out as fast as possible to make an extra buck, which so many places nowadays make you feel like. Dr. Pickering is refreshingly customer focused - the 2 free follow up appointments for the new contacts I'm trying out is much appreciated. I would recommend ordering contacts with an office committed to finding the right fit for my eyes over a big chain or online source ANY day...your eyes are important! I also recommend paying the extra $39 for the opto-map instead of dilating your eyes and being blurry for 4 hours. After spending the entire month of January dealing with the terrible staff of a myriad of doctors, dentists, and oral surgeons, THIS place was a godsend. Perfect Vision is what all those health professionals' offices should be like. The staff here is super professional, warm, and knowledgeable. They dealt with my insurance very well, which can be a pain if the office staff is incompetent in that area. Soapbox: Office staff makes all the difference in the world for someone's office visit. Doesn't matter how great the doctor is, if your staff is horrible your practice will flounder. This place is in a great location, has wonderful staff and wonderful doctors. I started seeing Dr Mark in June. His office is very flexible and works with my crazy schedule. They have appointments as late as 4:45pm and are even open on Saturdays now. Apparently I have complicated eyes, but I just could not find a comfortable pair of daily contacts. Rather than telling me I had to wear glasses all the time or deal, Dr Mark spent almost two months trialing different lenses with me. He even ordered special ones that weren't in stock. Finally this week we found the ones! I know most doctors would not put this much time into finding the right product for their patient, and even after I needed 5+ fittings he didn't charge me again. Dr. Sheryl Pickering is one of the best eye doctors. My husband got a piece of metal stuck in his eye and she worked really hard to save his eye! That was 10 years ago and he sees perfectly fine still today! She will not only be your doctor, she will form a bond with you if you allow her to! She is one in a million! She is very compassionate and caring! We thank God for her every day I hope she never closes her business! It is very hard to find a doctor like her now! If I could give them six stars I would, for the following reason, alone: I ordered contacts through them roughly two-ish weeks before I was due to run out of lenses. It also happened to be two-ish weeks before I was traveling out of town. Perfect Vision placed a timely order, and the lenses were supposed to arrive in one week. But the days kept ticking by and the lenses never arrived. In fact, as of the time I'm writing this, my lenses still haven't arrived. So, I called Perfect Vision on the day I was leaving and explained the issue. They offered to give me some trial lenses free of charge, but I couldn't make it to their location on Richmond until at least 7 p.m. Instead of telling me I was out of luck, they went out of their way to tape the contacts behind the door handle so that I could pick them up after hours. Not only that, but my left eye is uniquely bad--meaning they didn't have the exact prescription lying around their store-so they gave me weekly supplies of two different strength contact lenses for that eye. You know, just in case one of them was uncomfortable. On top of that, I've always had a great experience at their store. Tl/dr Perfect Vision went out of their way to save my trip. read more
