The Hugo Boss frames were 390.00 with a warranty of 2 years. at 3 years a chunk of the frame just fell off and underneath was a piece of jagged metal. Love the actual optometrist.. However... everyone else (we had contact with at least 5 other staff) seemed as though they were dropped into their positions 2 minutes before we walked in the door. Literally- when kids go to that career place where they are all assigned jobs... elementary kids can pretend to be a CPA or a CEO better than these folks can operate. I filled out all the new patient paperwork, that was a waste of my time as they asked me each question even after they saw I submitted it- "not sure how to populate it from that tab.... " he was nice about it though, and would consider him the best of the rest. Seems like they opened before training anyone. And they were extremely expensive. read more

I initially came to Eye Care North in March 2023 for symptoms of Binocular vision disfunction. I saw Dr. Lam who has helped me through my treatment is a wonderful doctor. She is calm, soft spoken and attentive to your needs. She is the only eye doctor in Arizona who treats this condition and is very good at what she does. She initially set me with a pair of neurolenses back in June 2023 after doing some testing to confirm I had BVD. She started me out slow with a little bit of prism because she knew I was very sensitive when she first put the prisms on me during the first visit. I noticed an instant difference as soon as i got my first pair of glasses. When we needed to increase and have a remake made the staff was always accommodating. I finally got my 3rd pair of neurolenses and feel like my life has changed!!!! My symptoms have basically disappeared!!!! Dr.Lam informed me that she likes to start some of her patients out with a little bit of Prism at a time so their eyes adjust well. With each new remake i was adjusting the same day! Everyone in this office is truly amazing! The front desk staff as well are very friendly and helpful. I will continue to seek treatment here for all my eye needs even if it is a bit of a drive because they are that good! I had the most extensive eye exam ever with Dr Lam, I highly recommend her!!

Due to covid (the pandemic) my last scheduled eye exam got pushed back as I didn't feel comfortable. Now 4 years later (2 years since when my last exam should have been) I figured I should get my eyes checked. The Optometrist at my former practice is no longer practicing, and it is way down in Old Town so I decided to look for a place a little closer to the far north valley. Made an appointment online last week. First available was Monday, so I took it. Filled out the new patient info online. Piece of cake. The entire staff was very pleasant and made my appointment very unstressful. I was completely impressed with Dr. Andrea Smith-Gray. Liked the fact that they no longer use drops, and the new technology is very impressive. Wonderful expereince with Dr Lam and staff. The front office was so quick and informative at answering my emails and they got me in on the same day. I was able to fill out all my paperwork online which is a huge plus for me. They got me right in when I arrived and the whole staff was very welcoming and friendly and the office was incredibly clean and neat! I've been going to Eye Care North for over one year. When you make an appointment, they do their best to get you right in. They have all the latest equipment, to make your visit comfortable, and fun. I've been a patient at Eye Care North for about a year now. I think their care and service is superb. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Lam; she treats you like you're her only patient. Never in a rush, always taking time to explain what she's finding and what she recommends, and always trying to find a cost effective way of treating you. The staff is very courteous and responsive. For example, last summer I was getting a new pair of prescription glasses made while I was living on the east coast. The copy of the prescription I had from ECN was missing some important information. I called from the optical center I was at (2,000 miles away) to see if I could get a corrected copy faxed to me. The team at Eye Care North immediately jumped on it and within 5 minutes I had the revised prescription. This morning I called the office because I needed a medication refilled. The person who answered the phone asked me to hold on for a minute while he talked Dr. Lam about it. 10 seconds later, I'm talking to Dr. Lam herself about it. She explained to me that the cost of the medication I'd been using had gone through the roof and she was now recommending an alternative solution. Problem solved. When was the last time you called your doctor's office and actually got to talk to your doctor on the phone? Several days ago my wife handed me an envelope from Dr. Lam's office and said, "Is this for real?" I thought she was handing me a bill. No. It was a coupon from Dr. Lam's office for $25 off a Thanksgiving turkey or ham. Wow! Nice touch. Never expected it but sure appreciated it. Tried to see a doctor for my 4 year old son with a red blemish on his eye. After waiting 15 min I was presented with a card to go somewhere else. Would've loved to have gotten any kind of service, but I guess not. When I came to Eye Care North to see Dr. Lam, I had been experiencing severe bouts of vertigo, chronic migraine, nausea, neck pain, and light sensitivity for many years. I was able to find relief from many of the migraine symptoms through the help of a neurologist, but the vertigo was worsening over time. Over the years, I had seen my PCP, two ENTs, numerous neurologists, and two neuro-otologists. I went through several MRIs, Electronystagmography (ENG), and hearing tests. The good news was that there was nothing these specialists could find that was causing the extreme bouts of vertigo...but there was not a good course of action to help relieve the symptoms, either. Motion sickness medications and low salt diets made little difference. I had tried specialty sunglasses, prescription glasses, regularly scheduled massage, and chiropractic medicine. Some of these helped slightly, but only for a limited time. The vertigo always returned, and it was becoming dangerous to drive myself to work. Since I began wearing the prism glasses prescribed by Dr. Lam, all of my symptoms have decreased significantly, and the vertigo is almost completely gone. I feel very fortunate to have found Dr. Lam and her entire staff; because of them, my quality of life has improved greatly. Dr. Lam is very knowledgeable, patient, and kind. Life savers! During this pandemic my sunglasses were breaking and in need of repair. They are prescription glasses that I need to drive. I called my optometrist that's out of state to see if they could make me a new pair and ship them to me. They said I needed to personally pick them up, they don't ship! Then I found Eye Care North! I called them up and Melissa explained she could possibly fix my glasses. We set up a time and a Covid safety protocol and now my glasses are perfect! She fixed them and for free!!! Since I need the glasses to drive (or do much of anything outside) this was urgent. Eye Care North really helped me out during these weird pandemic times! Dr. Lam & Chris are absolutely fantastic, and I definitely will continue to use Eye Care North and recommend them to others. The facility is new, bright, and most importantly feels very clean and has modern technology. Dr. Lam was so nice and never made me feel like I was taking (and failing) an exam. She explained everything and I feel very confident in her ability to spot and diagnose problems. Chris was also very nice, taking the time to help me pick out frames and made great suggestions based on things I liked. I love that I can schedule my appointment online and fill out my patient form ahead of time, making the process to go in and get out very efficient. Chris also made sure I knew what my coverage was for the exam based on my insurance ahead of time, which I appreciated very much. When I went back in to pick up my glasses, they greeted me by name and were so friendly and helpful, and even included a little treat. Eye Care North definitely defines what great customer service is. The only thing that I had a hard time with was understanding the cost of my glasses, and I'm sure this is half due to insurance companies being hard to understand. VSP states typical co-pays on their website for all the different "add ons" like polarized, polymer, UV protection, etc. but Eye Care North groups it all together into various packages that include "free UV protection, scratch resistance, etc.". I ended up being really confused on what I needed and why it all ended up costing so much, which is partly due to my own lack of research but also partly due to the fact that Eye Care North groups it all together into lens packages without a breakdown. So I recommend people new to needing glasses to do some research ahead of time on what you really need and then come in prepared to be shocked at how much lenses cost even with insurance :) read more

I've been pretty good at getting my eyes checked every 2 years or so since finding out in the 8th grade that I was nearsighted. I decided to try out Eye Care North since it was so close to my home. The office was charming and the staff was super friendly. I had a very comprehensive eye exam from Dr. Lam and was dilated for the first time in my life! How did my past optometrist never dilate me before? Or even asked?? I learned so much about the health of my eyes! The very knowledgeable optician helped me find THE perfect frames. Dr. Lam provided me with the most comprehensive eye exam that I have ever had in my entire life. I've had poor eyesight since i was young, so I always appreciate someone who makes the extra effort with my annual check ups. I had some trouble with allergies and itchy eyes, so she made some great recommendations with other contact lenses, eye solution and drops, along with samples for me to try. I rarely get dilated, but this time I went for it. I'm glad I did because Dr. Lam was so thorough and picked up on something important to monitor. Dr. Julie Lam and her staff are truly amazing! I had been going to Target Optical because I had never really had any major issues and didn't see the need to pay more. I started to experience dry eyes at night and a friend recommended Dr. Lam. When I called, Chris was friendly and professional. They are conscious of their impact on the environment so all forms are online. During my appointment, Dr. Lam explained everything she was doing along with reasons why. She has a wonderful demeanor - calm, confident and engaging. She speaks to you like you are her equal, her friend. Chris is a master at helping select glasses that work for your face and preferences. And when you go to pick up your glasses, they give you a little bottle of cleaner (not unusual) that you can come back and refill any time it runs out - free of charge (unusual!). And they give you a lovely piece of Ghiradelli chocolate too! The office is immaculate, simple and modern. I highly recommend Eye Care North - they make me want to come back more often. Both my husband & I are very happy with Dr. Lam and Chris. Dr. Lam did a very thorough exam, and referred my husband to a retina specialist who we really like as well. The office is very clean with obviously new equipment. We were very picky when picking out new glasses and took quite a bit of time - Chris was very helpful and very patient with us.
