Dr. Murphy gave me a call almost immediately after I sent an email to him to explain the situation that occurred was not typical and they would be working on ensuring it does not happen to other patients. I appreciated his quick response and willingness to replace my contacts if needed. I will say I have always had great optometrists and exams at the office, and may return to a different location in the future. (Dr. Baskett was an excellent clinician!) I increased my star rating due to Dr. Murphy's willingness to reach out and hopefully this office can improve its response to patients issues when they arise. read more

I can't say enough bad stuff about this place, from the eye exam to the so far 6 week wait for my glasses. These people are rude and not helpful at all. Horrible customer service glasses had to go back 4 times. Was told by staff that VSP was reversed called VSP not three. Called for a third time asking for a direct call, as the last two times I just received an email no phone call, representative was rude and apparently UPS was more important then the patient. I've been going to Eye Designs since they were located next to Nordstrom. They use to be great, but the service over the last couple years have been terrible. I give them a one-star rating for the following reasons: 1. Insanely long wait times. In the last two years, my eye appointments have taken between 2.5-3 hours because it seems they over book patients. Completely unacceptable. The only positive thing about it was Dr. Corpus, who didn't rush my appointment and answered all my questions. The last time I was there, I overheard a guy complaining that he was waiting for 45 minutes, and still hadn't seen a doctor. Not a surprise at all. 2. Turnaround time on receiving glasses is ridiculous. They say 2 weeks, but that really means about 3-4 weeks. 3. Staff forgets to call you and say your glasses are ready. I've had to be the one to follow-up on the status. I've noticed a trend in the last couple years. I call around the two week mark and they say my glasses have arrived, but need to be QC'd. Fine. They say they'll call me once that's done. A week later, nothing. So I call again, and they say oh yea it's done come by at your convenience. Seriously?! This has happened a few times already. Once, ok maybe they're just busy. But multiple times? Inexcusable. 4. What is the QC nonsense? The last time I got glasses, I had to wait for them for an additional week due to them needing to be QC'd. Well, once I finally got them I found that the lenses weren't right!! I literally had to push my glasses up in order to see clearly. So I had to go back and have them replace the lenses, which took another 2 weeks. They were apologetic, but seriously what's the point of the QC when it wasn't caught the first time around? 5. Opticians. Some of them are great, some not so much. I went in a few weeks ago to get my frames tightened. As I'm sitting their waiting for her to tighten them, I notice she makes a mad dash for the sink. Odd. I've never seen that happen before. Well, fast forward 5 minutes later I notice numerous fine lines on one of my lenses! I'm guessing she accidentally heated up the lens....!!! Wtf? To make matters worse, I had to wait another 20-30 minutes to see another optician to complain. What usually takes 5 minutes to do ended up being an hour long ordeal just because one of their opticians failed miserably. Oh, and to make matters worse, I was told the lenses would be done in 9 days. It's more than 2 weeks now, and I had to call 2x to get a status on them. Of course, the lenses are done and they just forgot to call me. Again. The repeated failures of this business is mind-boggling. This place can't even follow basic HIPAA compliance. I'm sitting in the room with an unlocked computer, that if I wanted could pull up anyone's info and start taking pictures. I asked the assistant if they had HIPAA training and she advised that they do, but she insisted my info was not on the computer *facepalm* They seem to be taking advantage of people and are now selling pills. DO NOT GO HERE. Places like this need to get with the times or get shut down. The staff that helped me told me that her eyes were bad and that she needed her eyes checked. This wasn't a joke, she had a very hard time finding the issue with my glasses. They didn't have any pricing sheets, and I can confirm the staff can't even do basic arithmetic. She seemed to kist make up pricing out od thin air. This is cause for concern. I had an appointment but still had to wait while the staff talks about their weekend plans. This retailer has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I needed a new pair of glasses and looked up their address online. They were located in Sunrise mall and I took off work early and drove there to check out their frame selection. Too bad they had moved but hadn;t updated the website! I then drove to the new loation down the street and found a pair I really liked. I had a checkup and purchased the frames and they were great for a month or 2. Then one of the earpieces pulled out of the actual frame. Within a few days and before I could get them into the store, the other earpiece also pulled out of the frame. It seemed that the plastic of the frame was too weak to hold the small piece of metal that attached to the earpiece. I brought the frames in and forgot one of the earpieces. they said they needed both earpieces to get a replacement, so I drove home and found the other earpiece and bropught them back to the store. They ordered a replacement frame. I went in wehn the new frame was in and they swapped the lenses and I was off and running, or so I thought. I got home one afternoon a few weeks after getting the new frames and went to put on the new frames after taking off my prescriptin sunglasses and one of the earpieces pulls out of the frame again. this was after having them less than a month. I made another appointment and went back into the store to get my eyes checked also and get a different frame since the one I had like obvioulsy had a design flaw at the temple. they said they could only order the same frame again. I explained to them that this was 2 identical frames that both had the same issue and I needed a frame that would not break. I've worn glasses for 40 years and have owned perhaps 15 pairs in that time and have never had this problem. They insisted that all they could do per Kaenon's policy was to get another identcal frame. they weren;t even sure inittally if they could because they said I bought the glasses last summer, well that was the first frame! I asked them to make it right regardless of the MFD policy since it was clearly an problem with the glasses and they said no, we won't and that it was my fault for putting the glasses on or off with one hand. I tired to make an appt with the owner but they called me 2 days later and left a message that said I and my family was no longer welcome at the store and that they would mail my glasses to me. read more

I came here after the recommendation of a few people at work. I walked in and the sales people were all either busy with customers or didn't bother even saying anything to us. No hello, no can I help you with anything, no nothing. Although I was annoyed about this, I decided to just start looking around myself until someone helped me. A few minutes passed and still, no one approached me. At this point, I thought this was just plain rude. I called an employee over and told her I had VSP insurance, and asked to see the section of frames my insurance covered. The employee gave me a snobby look, as if VSP insurance wasn't good enough, and showed me the section of frames that would be covered. When I saw the selection was so limited, I asked if they could order anything for me out of their catalog and she seemed reluctant to do so. Overall, she gave me a really crappy feeling, and for what? I have no clue. I told her nevermind, and my husband and I left. This was a year ago and I haven't set foot into this Eye Designs location since then. I don't know if maybe the employee was having a bad day or what but no customer wants to be made to feel like crap for no reason. In this day and age, there are tons of other eyeglass places I can go to, so there's no need for me to give my money to a place like this where employees don't know how to treat their customers. read more

Went to the Sunrise location in February for glasses, exam was fine but when it came to dispensing my glasses, they were not sitting correctly on my face, at that time my husband noticed that the screws were loose, when my husband told them the staff was rude by arguing when he insisted they make the adjustment to fit correctly. 1 star for Sunrise! Today, after noticing a missing screw, went back to the Arden-Fair location, which we have been going to for years, my glasses are new again! 5 stars for Arden-Fair!! Just had a pair of my glasses broken with the lenses as well so I couldn't even point-dexter them. Without a spare in sight (pun intended), I made an appointment with LensCrafters in Arden for an eye exam because their website deceivingly made it appear they accept VSP. Apparently, that wasn't the case when I showed up and walked on over to Eye Designs to try my luck. In case people are scanning the reviews to see, Eye Designs DOES accept VSP insurance. After explaining my situation, they totally fit me into their schedule the next day. Dr. Corpus was super cool and very funny, and as someone who works in a service industry as well, I can fully appreciate their friendly and knowledgeable staff. Because of my need for glasses ASAP, they offered a variety of options to choose from. I ended up putting my insurance towards a nice pair and then springing for a second, super basic plastic pair that would be ready within an hour. I really wish I could remember her name now, but the lady that helped me had to be the best person to help me with glasses ever. She was completely honest with me about which pairs look good on me and whatnot, had a sense of humour, and I could tell she had a sincere concern for me being happy with what I'm leaving the store with. The staff here is the perfect balance of uninformed, uneducated, and rude. The girl helping me couldn't do simple arithmetic. Now, I'm no Stephen Hawking, but I can add and subtract. Her inability to add led to me being billed incorrectly. When I brought I to their attention they claimed it was a "new charge". Been going here for the better part of a decade. Today was my last time. The constant landslide of rude service, ridiculous wait times, and fictional charges proved to be too much for me. Loved my experience!! I had one day to get this done with my lively 5 year old in tow. I went to one place to have an exam but do to being out of network they couldn't use much of my vision benefits. After all that and my daughter getting anxious, I found eye designs. Luckily they were in my network and with the convenient location near my home I decided to give em a try. Upon walking in, its small but a beautiful set up, very clean/organized. They set me up with a specialist right away since I had a RX and I told her what brand I wanted and she helped me wonderfully. But my favorite part was how the lovely young lady at the front desk was SOOOO INCREDIBLY GOOD with my daughter! She played with her, answered all her curious questions and kept her busy without me asking. She offered to keep her attention while I was picking my frames and lenses. Its so hard to find kid friendly people.. so I was so grateful for the relief of the painless process. I was in & out within 30 minutes and my glasses came in less than a week :) They didn't have anymore Ray Ban cases that was supposed to come with my glasses but she assured me they'd call when they got them in so I can pick up, and my lenses are covered for 2 years for scratches. I will continue to use this office for my vision needs and have referred my good friends and family as well. read more

This was my first time trying out this place for an eye exam. I let them know know all I want is an eye exam. I have VSP insurance it covers everything for the most part. The staff was friendly, however I feel like I got taken advantage of. I don't like how they did not disclose that I would be charged $70 for testing out a pair of contact lenses that I have been wearing for a majority of my life. They should have been upfront instead charging me with that surprise fee. That's pretty much half the cost of an eye exam without having insurance. The short: Needed to get the yearly exam and some new lenses. I hate malls but the entrance is on the exterior so score! The long: Walked right in and was quickly greeted and put onto a waitlist. When time came for my appointment with the optometrist I was taken right in. He was friendly and actually pretty funny. What was even better was he was able to determine there was an error in my last prescription and this was in part the cause of some of my headaches. Once I hit the sales floor I waited for my turn to be helped by the floor staff. After about 20 minutes it was my turn. The young lady who helped me was very friendly and offered suggestions and opinions. I placed my order and then the waiting game began. I was called back in a little over a week to come in and pick up my glasses. I again was greeted and waited to be seen. Again it took about 20 minutes and then when it was my turn I was given my glasses and they were fitted for me. The one thing that really stood out for me was that they realized I had over-payed when I placed my order because they had misquoted a price to me so they refunded the money when I came in. What works: Selection and friendly honest staff What to improve: Wait times can be ridiculous. Maybe assign certain staff to help people picking up so they are not waiting on people who are doing the whole process. read more

I've been going to this optometrist for years, both to the Roseville location and this location. I also go to their sister location, Visions Optometry, because I follow Dr. Johnson around religiously. But today's review has been prompted by my experience with my eleven-year-old son, and his adventures with his glasses. My son has a very high prescription, inheritied by me. So he must wear glasses all day, every day. But he's also a typical boy, and can't go anywhere or do anything without jumping off rocks and low walls, and trying to climb trees, rolling in the grass, and any other spontaneous idea that pops into his head. So over the last five years, he's broken his glasses a few times each year. Now, Eye Designs is not inexpensive. They mostly carry designer brands, and their selection works well for me. But for a kid who goes through glasses like he does shoes, its not exactly the best place to buy frames. But from the first time I brought him in with the pieces of his frames held out in a plea for immediate intervention, this place has handled us with finesse and a great deal of caring for my situation. They saw how this was becoming a regular occurence, and started helping us choose frames with the best warranties. Each time we've brought in broken frames, they've been so helpful in getting them replaced through the warranties. I even had one of the ladies take my son aside and give him a talk about responsibility and how he needs to have more respect for something that has obviously cost his mom a lot of money. I used to work near this location, but now work farther away. But I will continue to take my son here even with it being out of the way for us. It's worth it, to have this kind of support. I did not give them 5 stars because like what other people have written in their reviews, it gets very crowded and busy sometimes. It can take quite awhile to get assistance. Since I come here so frequently, I know coming in the early afternoons on weekdays are the way to avoid most of the crowds. But some people don't have that kind of flexibility. The location could be a bit bigger, for the amount of business they do on the weekends. That being said, I would definitely recommend coming here for higher prescription kids, and for the great designer frames selection. read more

I have been coming here for years and have had outstanding service.. but these last 3 years have been anything but good. The staff has switched up a bit... they literally down graded from most of their previous staff from outstanding to rude and pushy as f*** (sorry, but that's how bad it has gotten). My worst experience: having an inattentive employee help me while looking for new frames. She seemed irritated that she was even at work.. mind you, it was actually not busy AT ALL! or the end of the day. When I finally narrowed it down to the frame I liked most, she looked at the price and rudely said "You know how much these cost, right? $600." OF COURSE a ton of things were being said in my mind, but I calmly (and sarcastically) replied "Well good thing I have insurance and money... or I wouldn't know what to do." To say the least...... Like really how hard is it to grab my two small boxes of lenses and just hand them to me. I came in and waited 25mins just to get my contacts in my hand thay are already prepaid. One of the best optometrist office I've been to. I've been wearing glasses and contacts for about 40 years, and this has to be in the top 5 friendliest, helpful, and knowledgeable offices. But I also know about my glasses and contacts, what I wear them for, what works and doesn't, and I also ask questions. If I don't tell them my wants and needs, how are they going to know how to help me?!? I get there a bit early, and most everyone greets me by name. My wife and I get our exams and glasses there, so we know them, and they know us. The doctors are knowledgeable and answer any questions I may have. As new lenses come out, they let me know and we are able to determine what will work best for me. The optical staff are great! I'm nearly blind without my glasses, so they do a wonderful job of suggesting which frames best suit my face and look good on me. I've been happy with the half dozen or so frames I've gotten from them. And despite having a very high prescription, they showed me that I could successfully wear a rimless pair of glasses. They look great, and I've used them for the past few years, just having the lenses changed. read more

I don't think I'll ever go anywhere else. I've been to two Eye Design locations and I always have a great experience! Last time I came to the office I had a big list of the serial numbers of all the glasses I had in mind. They only had two in stock but I was able to sit down with the optician and look at them online and see what other locations had them so I could go try them on. He went way above and beyond to help me! I decided on one of the styles they had in store. I also went with the nicest lenses they could offer me. With my insurance I only paid a small portion of what the total was! A few weeks later my sparkling new eyeglasses were in! They were better than expected! I was also glad to hear that I had a 2 year warranty on the lenses. Like I said before, I don't think I'll ever go to an other place again. I heard about Eye Designs in Arden fair mall from both people who have gone there, and yelp reviews. Let's just say this first. There is a Lenscrafters in the mall as well. I'm usually a big fan of them and their service but since I'm new to the area I wanted to try something new. For as long as I'm living in Nor Cal this will be my go to place for eye exams, prescription glasses and contacts. The fit me in for an appointment the day after I called to schedule one. I expected a few days out at least. When I got there the two receptionist's were courteous and had me fill out some paperwork which was quick and easy. The doctor was absolutely amazing, very quick, very friendly and I'll update this with his name when I can find it. I got an eye exam and fitted for contacts in the same appointment. After that I was able to pick out a pair of really awesome prescription sunglasses without being rushed and no pressure to pick out a pair they thought I should get. They gave honest opinions about size of the glasses in relation to my facial structure and I was very glad for that. When all was said and done I ended up leaving with a pair of prescription sunglasses with an amazing Nike frame, Contacts and Another pair of glasses with one of the deals they had in store. Great prices, Great service, Great staff. A definite recommend for someone who is as picky as it gets about their eyeballs :) read more

I have been going to Eye Designs for several years now mostly because they were the only place that I could find a good selection of Chanel, Dior and Gucci frames, but I had never been compelled to write a review just because the customer service experience had been largely inconsistent. The reason I've finally decided to give Eye Designs 5 stars is because of Dr. Corpus. They don't rush you when you're purchasing (which is good because they don't stock cheap items) and when I came back for the adjustment they saw me right away and got my frames shipshape in a matter of minutes. I've been coming here for a few years now, but my last visit was the best yet. The optician Laurie helped me out & she was super friendly from the beginning to end. She broke down every single thing my insurance covered (which never happened before). I was able to use every penny of my insurance allowance and not have to pay a dime. She asked me to pick out a few pair of glasses so she could see what style I liked, and she picked out the one for me. She knew which ones would fit my face and preferences. Ones I would never even like at in the first place, but once I tried them on they were perfect. I'm still amazed at Laurie's skills. I am one extremely satisfied customer. I got my contacts here, eyeglasses & prescription sunglasses. The doctors I've seen are very friendly and don't try to rush you out, they are very willing to answer any question you have. read more

Unfortunately, I have to agree with all of the other negative reviews. No respect for your time (for example, being told to take my contacts out for an exam, and then spending 15-20 minutes totally blind waiting for a room to become available... why?) and a lot of inconsistencies between what they "estimate" you will be paying and what you're actually charged. I've waited three weeks since my exam for trial contact lenses to come in, and when I finally had a chance to call: oh, they've been there and I have to come in (to ship them would cost $15 apparently!) but no one contacted me because of... "Human error." Not an acceptable excuse. How long will I have to wait for my actual contacts? I sincerely hope that the trial pair are good enough, because I'm going to run out of contacts. Really disappointed by the poor service, so glad I decided not to try to purchase glasses here. read more

Never again. Last month made an apt for my husbands new glasses. Basically just needs readers but wanted a transition. I made it clear to the rep we are on a budget. She said she totally understood. After our insurance paid why was it over $300????? Ok a little responsibility to the consumer. Now the glasses are in. They said if you don't want a fitting call at the door. It's 102 out. I've been impressed by the level of care and professionalism of Eye Designs Opt for the last 6 1/2 years between both Roseville and Sac locations. The support staff is friendly and well informed by changes in my insurance policy, the eyewear is up to date and fashionable (if you're like me and WANT a fashionable frame that is) and the optometrists (I've had more than one) are well-versed and confident in their work - I've never felt a smidge of apprehension while going through an eye exam, consultation, etc. because they take their time and really make you feel like a priority. I found out about this place from my insurance so I thought I'd give it a go. My eye exam went great and it was fast to pick out my glasses. However 1 month later and still no glasses. Took three calls to find out about my glasses. First two times I was told they did not know where my glasses were and they would find out from the lab and call me back. Eventually I got tired of waiting and called back demanding answers where all of sudden they were on back order magically. Been having eye problems for a couple weeks so I've decided to finally get my eyes examed since I've never seen an optometrist before. Did my research and read all reviews good and bad. This place was most convenient since I didn't have to set an appointment to be seen. Red flags I've noticed on reviews were the poor front end customer services especially with a specific individual (white lady) in the front desk. Majority good reviews on optometrist doctors so I went in hoping it weigh out the negatives. My visit there went exactly as I predicted. Doctors were good and thorough explaining my condition since I've never had my eyes examed before. Had minor issues with the octo whatever machine taking photos. I seriously thought it was my fault for possibly not aligning eyes properly, but the doc mentioned to her assistant that that tech needed more training. And then we get to the front end where all the greatness I hear about happens on the reviews. was hoping they weren't as bad as everyone say. I work in retail too and for far longer than the lil gal that works in that front desk, I understand the frustration you may get from certain customers, but this person just hates her job doesn't care for the face of this company and they put her in the front being the first thing people see and talk to when they walk into this establishment. Smh... very unhelpful with her sarcastic remarks and attitude. She's not stupid I'm sure and CAN BE professional but chooses not to. The only reason i think she still has a job there in my assumption is that she's most likely related to the owner or manager there. The other biggest issue. Horrible followup. If it's paid I expect it the day you say it should come. I was explained that lens takes 10 business days to order and 3 additional days if they had to order frames plus an additional day to send frames to lab and be put on. Ordered everything on the 4th on a Monday. Was told I will receive a call by the 15th Friday and it should be ready. Come the 15th no call all day, so I called around 3pm before they close to get an update. Was told the labs closed and there no way for them to track their shipments and they will call me Monday. Fine no big deal. Monday comes got a voice mail that the frames are being sent out Tuesday and will be in and ready by Friday the 22nd. So, either the frames got stolen or they never bothered to order my frames when I paid for it. Called friday and got ms popular from google and yelp reviews. Puts me on hold for 15mins while she goes to the lab to check. Comes back and then says oh, theyre on lunch so im going to have them call you when they get back. Waited 3hrs no call. Call back and she picks up again saying she forgot to tell them (honest mistake). Lab people says the shipments in but they havent gotten to it yet. Lol seriously? It's now saturday the 23rd, the wife is heading towards that mall and I ask her to check to see if they have my glasses, she meets ms. Popular and was given the worst response to a simple question as to check the update of the glasses. Word for word from what she said was "I've already talked to your husband and that they were supposed to be here but they're not". No, you did not talk to me friday to let me know you didnt get them in. Now was told for sure Tuesday when Monday is Christmas day I highly doubt anyone shipping anything. Never have I ever had such bad experience with anyone dealing with customer service. Calling my insurance Tuesday to cancel payments to the glasses and going somewhere else. I'd rather wait another month for these glasses than to have to deal with the customer service there again. read more

I have had a horrible experience trying to replace my daughter's Rx glasses. I have been given incorrect information multiple times. I was told the frames weren't ordered, then told they were ordered in red. I came in on a Thursday after being told my daughter's glasses were ready this is when they told me only the lenses were ordered. I asked due to confusion for an expedited overnight shipment the rep okay. I called today and was told they were ordered today. Any interaction I have with them they are asking me questions that they should already have knowledge of. For example asking me for my daughtersbroken glasses when I left them there on the 10th. Now after trying to find someone to escalate to I am noticing all the negative reviews as recent as 3 hours ago. Sounds to me like Dr. Murphy needs a check in to see how business is being run. read more

We were on vacation out of state and my son lost his contacts in the pool. He failed to pack his spare and glasses. Linda the office manager was very helpful and faxed a temporary prescription to the only optometrist office in Moab, UT so the my son would be able to see and enjoy the rest of his vacation. read more

Terrible experience... I came here to get a prescription update and new lenses for my frames which are rimless and required new hardware. After 5 visits they could not properly cut the lens shape properly nor order new hardware. I would be ok if they told meet upfront it could not be done. However, with each visit they assured me everything would be handled correctly. Now they tell me they cannot get it done. This is all about miss managing expectations and wasting time. So much time was wasted that I now lost the insurance funds available from last year when I started this process. After requesting a full refund they now have the gall to only provide a 50% refund. My 75 year old mother went here and had her eyes checked and ordered new lenses for her frames that she loves and has been wearing for years. She received a phone call that this company unfortunately lost her frames and were unable to locate them.she was told to come in and choose any frame she'd like from their inventory. She was quite upset but agreed. When she went in however she was given a couple of trays to choose from and told she could only pick from those! She didn't like any of the ones she was told she could pick from and they did not honor their word. She asked if they could pay for the frames she bought from Zenni and was told no. She was refunded the amount of the lenses they charged her for but never paid her for the frames THEY LOST! She was out a couple of hundred dollars! Please don't go here. They lie and are incompetent. We will be following up to get compensated for her frames. read more
