I have pretty thick dark eyebrows with a defined arch. This fall I decided to use COVID work-from-home as a perfect opportunity to grow them slightly wider without looking unprofessional at the office. It took about three months since August for some over-plucked parts to fully come back. Pretty happy with the results and the natural shape, I wanted to take off a few stray hairs to get the eyebrows look more symmetrical and also to trim the top part in a way that looks clean and not over-groomed. I normally do this myself, but since I haven't had full-blown natural eyebrows in ages, I figured it'd be a great opportunity to go to a stylist and treat myself. I've had terrible experiences in the past when people would pluck the heck out of me for no good reason, so I was pretty hesitant to do this, and the fact that none of my girlfriends normally did it at a salon also didn't help. After checking a number of places in the neighborhood, I was blown away by the amazing reviews, the IG account of Eye Love Beauty, and more importantly the beautiful luscious eyebrows of their aestheticians. So I booked an appointment, thinking that with every single girl rocking bushy eyebrows these days, the worst thing that could happen to me would be just paying the money and leaving with almost no changes, which I would have been totally fine with to be honest. My appointment was with Rochelle, who was very friendly and attentive. She examined my eyebrows, listened to my preferences and confirmed them to make sure we are on the same page. She also suggested to take off a bit of hair at the bottom to open the eyes/define the arch, which I was happy with. She carried on, was fast and very gentle. When she was done and handed me the mirror to check out the results, you could only imagine my surprise as I saw two skinny flat tasteless eyebrows from the 2000s on my face with half of the width gone, including good 3 mm from the top, and the arch was no longer there. I was completely stumped as I realized there was nothing that could be done at that point. So I mumbled something about the top of the eyebrows. Rochelle suggested that it wasn't as dense as the middle part, which is absolutely true by the way - my eyebrows are not perfect, but they are definitely much thicker than most of the average ones, and with a bit of filling they always look extremely voluminous. At this point I could only assume either the majority of their clients have perfect model eyebrows, the staff was trained on such eyebrows, or it was simply not my day. I felt extremely bad, but I didn't want to make a scene or argue - Rochelle was very kind throughout the whole session, there was nothing to be done at that point for the hair to magically grow back, and I was rushing back to work. So I just paid and left. I hate to be the person to leave this as an online comment rather than in-person feedback, but I honestly don't know what I should have done differently, since we both seemed to be on the same page, and I am not the type of person to interrupt an expert to check every two minutes on their work. I liked Rochelle a lot and wouldn't mind coming back if I knew I would be getting what I want. I just want to cry in a corner and shave this shame off. It will take me three months to grow back the hair, with the ugly stumps sticking out, and I cannot even properly conceal this with a pencil/shadow, since it looks absolutely ridiculous in this spot. The dumbest part is I don't have anyone else to blame for this but myself. So if you are someone like me, having beautiful eyebrows and contemplating about saving time shaping them yourself, please don't repeat my mistakes, set aside two hours and do it yourself. No one knows your face better than you, and not even the best stylist can read your mind. Or if you decide to give it a try, maybe ask a stylist to fill in the final desired shape before they start tweezing. read more

Getting your brows done by a stranger can feel like putting your life in someone else's hands. It's so risky trying somewhere new so I was glad to find this place on recommendation from a coworker. The website is a bit intimidating and gives off a very Queen West-y vibe, but the girls who work there are super friendly. What I love is that they shape your brows only through plucking/tweezing! I have only been here 3 times but I go to Ashleigh. I don't know what she does, but I hardly feel a thing. She understands that I like my brows full and "fluffy at the front" as she calls it, and never overdoes it. I always walk out feeling confident -- and never red! Plus, I get compliments on them all the time! The space is really minimal, in a bright second-floor studio on Queen West. Feels really trendy, but warm and inviting. I had been looking to get my eyebrows properly shaped for some time. I came across Eye Love and it was exactly what I was looking for. I booked an appointment and began to grow out my brows. They recommend 8-12 weeks of growth. That was hard. Aftr two months of self-restraint (it's so hard not to pluck strays and regrowth!), I went to Eye Love. Honestly, my brows hadn't grown that much and I was worried I'd be told to come back, or that my appointment would be done in 10 minutes (appointments are 30 minutes). I met Coral and she did a great job. She spent the full 30 minutes shaping and tidying up my brows, and they look pretty good. She also showed me which areas of my brows she wanted me to grow in for a better shape. One small quibble is that I wish she brushed the plucked hairs off my face, like they do for you after getting a haircut. The studio is simple and chic - it's very well-lit, with large makeup lights, big windows and a full-wall mirror. There's no receptionist at the desk, so when I arrived I just took a seat as both Coral and Amanda were with other clients. Cost was a bit high at $36+ tax (for initial visit) but Coral made my brows look nice, so it was worth it for me. It's not a place I would revisit frequently, as I can clean up my brows on my own, but I would definitely go back if my brows need serious reshaping. read more

Agreed with the comment below - the owner, Mary definitely came off as a snob when I came in. I made an appointment weeks in advance and I showed up just in time for it - after reading the reviews I was excited to get my brows done. Both Mary and Meghan are busy with clients when I walk up - but a one-word greeting would have nice. They both just look up at me, said nothing, and went back to their work. I stand there for 5 minutes not sure what to do as I've never been there, it's already past my appointment schedule - but I took a seat aside. (FYI to business owners, always greet your clients when they come in. It's awkward and unprofessional to ignore them when they come in. Just say Hi and tell them to take a seat - its not rocket science). Then 15 minutes past my appointment, the first word Mary says "it's going to be 5 more minutes". When it was finally time for me, Mary asks what the situation is with my brows - so I tell her. Then she scoffs as if I told her too much (?) then proceeded to say I didn't grow my brows enough for her to do them today. It should state on the website that we need to grow them for 6 weeks - I grew it for a good 3 weeks but she said it wasn't worth spending the money today. Fair enough, I thought that part was honest and considerate. Why I gave it 1 star is not only the bad service and attitude - but Mary also proceeded to help fill in my brows with a shadow - but did it extremely dark and with brown shadow. I'm an asian girl with pale skin and jet black hair - does the owner know that people with naturally black hair should NEVER be sporting brown eyebrows? they're WAY too red-toned for our complexion and natural colour. Even if it's the colour of our hair dye, red-brown is a big NO for asian girls. It looked extremely unnatural. I was worried they would give me a weird brow shape so it did stopped me for making appointment for awhile until one day I decided to give it a try. The store is located upstair in the building and google didn't give a good instruction, which I went into the baby store underneath and asked for direction. Close your eyes - no really, close them, you're going to want to imagine this train wreck - picture a 16 year old high school student in 2002 who is down with the unfortunate trend of pencil thin eyebrows. Over plucked to single hair perfection, these barely there brows were all the rage! Now, fast forward to 2012 and imagine a 26 year old with not one but 2 disastrous brows on her face that are untameable, patchy monstrosities thanks to years of tweezer abuse. This is where Mary, my brow master in shining armor saved the day! She didn't even let out a giggle when she saw what my face was sporting. I am someone who trusts no one when it comes to my eyebrows, but given the great reviews this place received on Yelp, I figured I would give these gals a shot. When I came to Amanda, I was forlorn and downcast. As I explained to her, I had at one time possessed beautifully shaped and thick brows until they were massacred at a hammam in Tunisia and I was left with fuzzy, misshapen nubs on my face. She gave it to me straight - it's going to take about 2 months of letting them grow out until we can start trying to get them back to their former glory. She sat me down and had me hold a mirror so I could follow along with what she was doing. She included me in the whole process and expertly explained what she saw, where my problem areas were, and how we were going to grow them back in and re-shape them. "I know it's hard, but just try not to touch them" she advised. This place knows what they are doing. I've been treating my brows rather well for the last couple of years, however, I've now become scared to trust just anyone with cleaning them up. I found this place on one of BlogTo's lists, and decided to try it out. It was really easy to make a last minute appointment. The difficulty was locating this place. It's one of those second storey walk ups, where you miss the doorway completely and just walk past. So make sure to look up for the sign! Once I arrived I was seated and taken care of right away. The aesthetician looked at my brows, discussed what I wanted and what issues I had with my brows and then cleaned them up and filled them in a bit. I've got a patch that I'm trying to make more full, and it's been a slow growing process, so she suggested some products (namely coconut oil) to help promote growth. I walked out with beautiful brows, and a much lighter wallet. This is why I deduct 1 star. The whole consultation and clean up (which for me was not much at all) cost $35 (plus tax). That's what I pay for an absolutely fantastic Brazilian wax! I know it's the location and the boutique feel that adds to the price, but to that extent? Unless you essentially plucked all of your eyebrows off, I don't know why you would want to spend so much every month or so to fix them. A few weeks before my wedding I was looking for a brow hero and I found Mary's card tucked away and forgotten. It was time to make the call; I'm glad I did. Mary is a brow shaping genius. I was nervous because I'd had very bad experiences before (The last time I'd let someone near my brows was right before meeting my husband's parents years ago. I am not exaggerating when I say they were so bad that children were frightened of me.). The only BIG problem I've had with Eye Love is that they wasted a lot of my time when it came to trying to book another appointment. Their phone message says to book online or email for the quickest response. I tried to book online this summer, more than once, but the online system wasn't working correctly. I emailed, twice, and left a couple of phone messages hoping to book, but got no responses at all. I tried walking by a couple times to see if they might be open, but no dice. Honestly, the best decision I ever made with my eyebrows was to go to Eye Love Brow. After years of obsessively over-plucking, I was ready to admit defeat and reach out for help. I decided to quickly poll my friends with the best eyebrows, and received glowing recommendations to visit Mary. I started going to Mary in fall 2014, and I am so grateful to her help. Within a short period of time, Mary helped me realize what shape would look best for my face, showed me how to fill them in on my own, and gave me really great & honest advice that has been super easy to adopt. Great make-up cannot beat the feeling of sporting a nice set of eyebrows! I saw Mary for my first brow consultation. The appointment started on time. She sat me down in one of her big comfy salon chairs and proceeded to ask me about my brow grooming habits (if I groomed them recently, which parts) so that she could assess what she was working with. Soon after, she informed me of the natural shape of my brows (which I've always been clueless about) and described how she wanted to groom them to compliment my facial features. She showed me with a mirror which parts she was going to take off, so we had the same vision and expectations before anything was taken off. What differentiates Mary from most salons is that she plucks/tweezes your eyebrows instead of wax or threading, so I felt comfortable with the knowledge that there was a good sense of control throughout the whole process. I was very satisfied with the end result. Mary targeted the part of my eyebrow that I was most insecure with, but also afraid to mess around myself. To finish, she showed me what brow pencil colour was right for me, and how to apply it to polish off the whole look. After having someone eff up my brows at one of those cheap we-do-everything salons, I decided I needed to step up my brow grooming game, and I've been going to Eye Love for years now! I've seen both Mary and Meghan and they're both amazing at achieving the best brow shape for your face. Yes, it takes longer and is more expensive than other places, but it is so worth it. It's been a few weeks since my last appointment and my brows still look super hot. It's also really easy for me to maintain and pluck in between sessions (I go once every two months). The salon itself is really bright and lovely, and there's always something good on the playlist. They also offer to fill your brows in once they're done plucking, which is a nice touch. One thing that can be annoying is they get booked up really quickly, so often I find myself having to book at least two weeks in advance -- of course this is a good sign and means more people are catching on to how awesome these ladies are, but just a heads up if you're looking to go in! read more

My eyebrows really needed to be cleaned up and I found Mary (the owner of Eye Love Brow and Beauty Bar) through Yelp! My overall experience here was excellent! Mary is very informative and explains what she is exactly doing, so there's no miscommunications in the end. Between the time she is tweezing/waxing your brows, there's always a conversation going on, so the room isn't dead silent (like many places I been to before). My brows were neatly cleaned up - she used mainly tweezing and a little bit of waxing on the bottom of my brow to clean up the excess baby hair. What shocked me the most in the end is that my eyebrows were not bright red after the wax, which usually happens. She keeps her wax at a certain temperature that will not be too hot to burn her customers! Since her schedule is appointment only, she gives her customers full attention. From this, I would highly suggest to give her a call or book online before heading up to the place. I only came here for one visit and would definitely go back for many more. read more

I just moved to Toronto and had been researching an established place to get my brows done. I've had tweezing, waxing, and threading. With COVID, my brows had lost their shape and I wasn't really pleased with the direction they had been growing in the first place. I know brows are supposed to be sisters and not twins, but the sisters have to look like they at least have the same father. Enter Coral. She was friendly, professional, and most importantly, she had a vision. A 45 min first time consult is exactly what I wanted. She walked me through a plan in which each hair was accounted for. Someone else on here wrote this, but trusting someone with your brows is like putting your life in someone else's hands. I'm not handing over the tweezers to just anyone. Coral was amazing- she got them to look the most symmetric they've been without thinning them. She nailed the "natural, fluffy" look. I will be going back here without a doubt. I also brought in an eyebrow pencil that I have to fill in the sparse spots and she redirected me to a better color and helped perfect my technique. The space is bright, cozy, bohemian. The staff is skilled and polite. Coral is an eyebrow savant. Their COVID cleaning protocol was thorough. You'll catch me back at this place every 12 weeks. I came here after a particularly awful experience with a brow wax in Toronto. With that waxing incident, and an iron deficiency, my brows were sparse and uneven. I've always struggled with my brows, feeling as though they were too fair and not exactly the shape I wanted. I first visited Amanda in February, and she gave me some tips on helping my brows grow back in, and started the shape along. I just went back yesterday to see Amanda again after having not touched my brows since that initial visit, and I can't believe the transformation. I have been here and had my brows done by both Coral and Meaghan. I would give Coral a half star because she ruined my brows. On top of that, I found she was socially awkward. She was not welcoming or smiled at you when she first saw you and gave you the elevator stare which I thought was flat out rude! She wasn't good at carrying on conversations with you, and would make comments that led me to feel uncomfortable. Meaghan, on the other hand, was the polar opposite. I have had two visits there. First time was with Mary. She was great - very knowledgeable and friendly. That's why I booked for a second time and decided to try with other artists since Mary is always booked well in advance. I was with Rochelle the second time and the overall experience was just somewhat unwelcoming and awkward. The result wasn't what I expected either. Rochelle definitely spent efforts cleaning up my brows but didn't really shaped them hence the result was just meh. My eyebrows are nothing to brag about. They are dark but not really thick and I'm sort of missing the corner of one of my eyebrows from stitches I earned as a stupid teen. Mary is the best! I was a teenage girl with one of 'those' friends. She decided my unruly brows needed to go, and go they did. She did them for me the first time and I followed what she did every week after that. For the next five years, I had pencil straight stern eye-brows. Over the last four years I've been trying to turn things around and slowly tweeze in an arch for myself. Things went okay, and they were looking a lot less botox-chick-with-one-emotion, but they weren't brilliant. A month ago I got sick of trying. I got bangs and let things run wild. Oh man, there be bears in them there woods! I booked in an appointment with Mary via her website (which is super handy -- you can select when and what time you want to go and her handy-dandy system will tell you what's free) and I arrived this morning super excited. I had also booked myself in for a lash perm (because this is apparently a real thing and I absolutely needed to try it) so I was pretty psyched to see what I would look like leaving the place. Mary spent a few minutes talking to me and complimenting my ability to grow DeNiro brows in the space of a month. She explained what she was going to do and then got to work, pausing to show me one finished brow before going on to the next. She then pointed out which parts still needed a bit more time to grow in and gave me some awesome, awesome, awesome pointers on filling in those spots in the mean time without making myself look like a clown (something I never managed to figure out on my own!). She even showed me what shade I needed to get. Turns out the one I had been using was about 11 shades too brown. No wonder I looked so angry all the time. Next up was the lash perm. Oooh, boy! Mary put these little jelly flaps onto my eyelids and proceeded to wrap my eyelashes around a little bump on the bottom of each flap. Then she put on the perming solution, some relaxing, cool cotton pads and left me to nap for a little while. When she came back and put on the second half of the solution she sat and talked with me a while. She is so friendly and easy going, you don't ever get that awkward feeling that she asks all of her customers the same questions without ever really caring about the answer. I think she and my dental hygienist must have gone to the same classes for that skill! After about 15 minutes she washed everything off and showed me the result. MOTHER OF PEARL. It looked awesome. I was absolutely stunned. I still can't get over how great it looks. And it's going to last two months! Hurray! In total, my 90 minute appointment was two hours (though I think that had a lot to do with my jungle-brows) and I felt 100% awesome the entire time. The fact that I was all alone and I was the focal point the whole time really made me feel like I was getting something special. Friendly service is one thing, but Mary clearly has a knack for making people feel like VIP. Pricewise, it's $30 for your first visit for brows and then $25 for maintenance after that. Sure, there are cheaper places, but I'd compare this to a man getting a hot towel shave. You can shave at home with a $1 Bic disposable but the pampering is nice and you know you're getting an excellent job. If you're looking for a quick clean up, and to be in and out in 15 minutes, this probably isn't for you. However, if you're looking for a pro to tell you what your brows should look like and how to get them back to the way nature intended (albeit a little tidier, sharper and cleaner looking) Mary is worth the money. The only downside of the entire experience: I high-tailed it to Dufflet Pastries immediately after my appointment (hey, it was lunchtime by that point!) and was helping myself to a sample of their carrot cake when Mary walked in. And by helping myself I mean eating cake (complete with frosting!) with my fingers out of a cup the size of a shot glass. I looked like a total neanderthal and was totally mortified that she had seen me. If my hairy, hairy forehead didn't have her convinced I was unrefined, my cake slurping skills likely did the trick! read more

I came here after seeing all the great reviews. I grew out my eyebrows for weeks and was super excited. After my appointment my eyebrows still looked bushy and absolutely no shape. I'm not sure if that's just in right now but I definitely wasn't pleased paying 50$ (with a tip) for them to tweeze a few hairs. Very dissapointed, I've now found an amazing place near my house that shapes my eyebrows perfectly for 10$. Not worth the money at all. read more

Got my first brow consultation here with Meghan and she was super nice and friendly. She took the time to tell me what changes she was going to make, and if you need help with learning how to fill in brows, she shows you how. By the end, my brows, which I thought were sparse, actually looked fuller than before. There was literally no hair out of place. It was kind of expensive, but considering the quality of service, it was worth it. I just wish that it was closer to home because it was a 2hr commute. read more

This was the first time I've ever been to Eye Love Beauty Bar and I have never been treated so poorly by one of the staff there. When I entered the business, a bit early before my appointment time, I greeted the two staff who were at the front desk. They both looked at me and I then said my name and my appointment time so they knew who I was. One of them then rudely says to me "Ya, you have 11 minutes left. You can sit down over there". I was in pretty big shock because I didn't think I warranted such a reaction from anything I said or my tone of voice. I've worked in the customer service industry for many years, so I thought this staff member was just having a bad day and didn't say anything. Other customers started showing up and every one of them received a warm welcome and were asked if they needed anything to drink. I was completely ignored after the rude encounter. The only reason I am giving them a 3 star instead of a 1 star is because the woman who did my eyebrows, Coral, was so lovely. She did such a great job on my eyebrows and was the only nice staff there. read more

I was scared to try someone new for my brows but in my current situation I had no choice. I made an appointment to see Mary and was very pleased with the results. I was nervous getting it done but Mary went over what would normally happen during the appointment and also went over what she suggested for me. I was very happy with the results and loved the experience. I was not as red as I normally would be when getting my brows done and it definitely didn't hurt as much either. Professional, clean, friendly and efficient. This girl knows her stuff. The only reason I give it a 4 star and not 5 star is I do find that the cost is rather high to have your brows done. The whole experience was great quick professional n friendly. She consults you first explaining what she thinks will suit your face best and then checks with you, so you know what she is about to do and she listens to your needs and preferences. I booked an appointment with Meghan, she was really awesome, definitely took the time to really help me fix my poor eyebrows as best she could (she didn't really have much to work with!).
