I took my son in yesterday for a surgery consultation with Dr. Hertzog, and we had a wonderful experience. The initial screening and intake were performed by Lisa B., who was absolutely amazing. She was informative, kind, and did an excellent job putting us at ease throughout the process. We were very impressed by her professionalism and bedside manner. The intake and screening process before meeting with Dr. Hertzog lasted about 1.5 hours, and Lisa took the time to thoroughly explain the process, procedure, and recovery expectations. She also did a great job identifying which questions would be best answered directly by Dr. Hertzog. When we met with Dr. Hertzog, he was great as well. I ended up coming to Eye Physicians of Long Beach after waking up with a really irritated and blurry right eye. At first I thought I just had an eyelash stuck in there, but it felt way worse as the morning went on so I told my wife I needed to go to urgent care. Urgent care honestly scared me a bit with some of the things they mentioned it could be, so they referred me over to see the specialists here. That's when I met Lindsey Van, and just talking to her immediately made me feel more at ease. She was extremely patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and didn't make me feel rushed at all. Turns out it was just a scratch that likely happened in my sleep. Nothing crazy, but I was really glad to have someone knowledgeable walk me through everything and explain what was going on. Never thought I'd be writing a review for an eye doctor, but here I am. Larissa helped me pick out two new pair of glasses. My regular progressive glasses and sunglasses as well. She spent so much time with me serving me listening to my needs and bringing out the most perfect looking frames for me. Some that I would have never chosen myself, but she has a real eye for knowing what works with a patient. I'm always terrified when I have gone anywhere to pick out glasses, but thanks too Larissa, not anymore! I adore my new glasses and I've gotten so many compliments! My first experience.. made my appointment for consultation for Lasik eye surgery. I've been receiving notifications of appointment reminders even day of an hour before my appointment time. I arrived receptionist had no idea about my appointment.. send me off to another location I sit and wait 20 minutes. I'm redirected back to the main office. Receptionist still does not know what's going on. Wait another 15 minutes then I'm told my appointment was canceled yesterday that I received a phone call. Check my call log no cancellation. I go to the receptionist. She said they forgot to remove me from the list . Asked to speak to management waiting another 20 minutes if you're coming here for Lasik, don't do it. It's a sign very unprofessional. Getting to the bottom of this, Lisa is in control of Lasik eye appointment. She dropped the ball and lied that she canceled my appointment the day before spoke with management showed proof. ! Lisa, you get nowhere by lying! Today, I had my annual eye exam, and I didn't have to wait in the lobby at all! Karina was incredibly helpful and took the time to explain each part of the exam, which really put me at ease. Ian did a fantastic job walking me through the glaucoma assessment. He showed me a detailed analysis and explained everything thoroughly, making it easy for me to understand. Dr. Grattan conducted a very comprehensive exam and helped me realize that some of my blurry vision is caused by dry eyes. I have bottom lid eyelashes that grow up towards my eye. Pokey is what I call them. Dr Martinez plucks them out, but the continue to grow back. We started a new treatment of electrolysis and hopefully after a few treatments and me getting an eyelash brush to try and train them, when they grow back, to grow down, we might have solved my long time problem. (I do have to say Cracked me up when Dr told me I needed to go to Sephora or some where like that to look for a brush?) The staff is very nice and try to work me in ASAP! read more

They blow up my phone with a annual routine screening and when I try and book it online. I've called to book my appointment and then they told me I owe a co payment because I haven't met my deductible however I have one routine visit a year that's 100% covered by my insurance. They say that they don't do that because I have to meet the deductible first. They said they would email me showing I've paid in the past for a routine visit which isn't true they still haven't. I've called all week and get hung up on they put me "on hold" but because they don't have proof of one a year routine payment they won't get back to me. I told them to reach out to my insurance but won't. I called my insurance and they said I should be full covered for one visit of a eye routine exam at 0 charge. However when I call too book they won't take me. They don't want business that's fine. Just beware they're trying to scam you! Aweful rude customer service the last lady I spoke to PINKY was so rude tried to argue with me and said I hung up which wasn't the case so when I told her what happened? She said she's still waiting to hear back from billing so they can tell me I have to co pay which isn't true so I had to tell her to tell me then go back on the line and let me know you will call me back when you hear back from billing instead of hanging up? She then agreed this place has turned into such bad customer service not the same as 3 years ago. 0 customer care quality on their end. read more
