I've been coming here for 3 years now and have no complaints. They're quick to see you, and you can make appointment online. Text reminders are sent for appointments. Wide variety of frames to choose from. Friendly staff, and Dr Shah is great. Routine exams are expedient but thorough. And great explanations for recommendations or eye updates. I see others complaining about pricing, but I have never been duped. Insurance coverage is transparent and they let you know portions of coverage. **Do not come here if you want a contact lens rx for any other type of lens other than dailys!** I came here since my rx expired and needed contacts. I have only ever worn bi weekly's and never been told my other doctors they were not safe. After my exams were done here, she told me to try daily's. I told her I would try them, but would most likely go back to bi weekly's since they are more cost effective. She ultimately told me they don't carry anything other than daily's but to try the daily's and if I don't like them to come back and she can fix the rx. I agreed but later that day they only sent my glasses rx and withheld my contacts rx. I called and they said they would not be able to give me the bi weekly rx. Had I known they were not going to allow me to get a bi weekly rx, I would have never done the exam with them! Be mindful of this before you book with them!! They ended up giving the rx as a "courtesy" but that was after days of trying to resolve this. They were also trying to charge me an extra "fee" because I didn't bring in my old prescription. But after I told them I purchased glasses through them, they were suddenly able to find the prescription in my file. I was also told I should buy drops and hard contacts. TL;DR: Longtime patient, but never again. Pushy, disorganized, and completely out of touch. I've been a patient at this vision center for years, and it's been frustrating to watch it decline from excellent to barely tolerable -- and now, to something I would never recommend to anyone. My latest visit was the final straw. I scheduled a routine eye exam and contact lens prescription, clearly selecting that option when booking the appointment. When I arrived, the technician even asked if I was there for contacts as well, and I confirmed that I was. So I assumed everything was in order. During the exam, the doctor told me I had a 0.50 change in one eye and 0.75 in the other. Then came the pitch: they tried to sell me two separate pairs of glasses -- one with a "cut down" prescription (their words), and another with the "full strength" lenses a week or two later, after I adjusted to the first pair. They said the second pair would be "free" if I purchased the first through them -- which, of course, comes with a hefty markup compared to places like Costco. (I actually went to Costco afterward, and the optician there was confused by the two prescriptions -- mentioning the "cut down" was only a 0.25 difference in one eye compared to the glasses I was already wearing.) I've worn glasses for years without any issues. A 0.75 change is minor -- not some massive leap that requires training wheels. This whole multi-stage prescription setup was clearly a sales tactic and not medically necessary care. I declined the upsell and simply asked for my full prescription. That somehow triggered a completely unnecessary two-hour wait, just to get the actual "full strength" prescription I came in for. And on top of that, they never gave me my contact lens prescription. The manager, Ana, told me the "full strength" prescription would be emailed within an hour of my appointment ending. That never happened. When I returned to the office that same day, I told them I still hadn't received my glasses prescription and reminded them I had also scheduled a contact lens exam but hadn't received that prescription either. I was told I still needed to pay the $60 contact exam fee, so I did -- and then waited again. After nearly another hour, I was told no contact lens fitting had been done during the exam, and I'd need to come back for a separate appointment. All this despite: 1) Booking a contact lens exam 2) Confirming it verbally with the technician who asked 3) Paying the fee as instructed I've done the contact exam here several times in the past, but at that point I was frustrated and done. I asked for a refund of the $60 contact exam fee. One staff member told me I'd need to wait several days and speak with the manager for a refund. Thankfully, another receptionist stepped in and corrected him, so I was issued the refund on the spot. (Shoutout to her -- the only one who seemed remotely competent.) This office is chaotic, disorganized, and completely disrespectful of patients' time. There's no communication, constant upselling, and a clear focus on squeezing every dollar rather than providing actual care. I went for a standard eye exam. First, I was brought into a room with a few difference machines. When it came to the second test, the employee said I had two choices: have my eyes dilated and not be able to drive for 2-6 hrs or have a picture taken of the back of my eyes for $39. Since I wasn't given these options before my appt, I drove myself, which meant I could not have my eyes dilated. I asked why I wasn't told this before and she said she didn't know but I had to choose one. The dr seemed knowledgeable and I felt a little pressure about what she wanted me to do/buy. She did give me options, though. Next came the frame fitting. I didn't find a pair I liked so the employee measured me and said I could purchase frames elsewhere, bring them back, and EyeC can put my prescription lenses in. I asked if she could email me my prescription and she said yes. The email never came so I waited two days and still no email. I called THREE separate times asking for the prescription. I finally got it but the fitting size wasn't included so I called asking for it. How am I supposed to buy lenses elsewhere if I don't know the size? The office said I had to pay $35 for them to tell me my size. WHAT? I don't appreciate being nickel and dimed. I will not be returning. read more

Eye exam is ok. But the high pressure from Dean Le optometrist to buy overpriced expensive retail eye drops, etc. is not worth the hassle. Also NO exceptions for returning them if you have a allergic reaction to them. Which I did. By the way you can buy the Retain Ocusoft eye drops over the counter at reputable drugs stores for $10. less, and the stores will refund your money for any reason. I found this out in one of the other reviews from another unhappy customer. Check out owner Dean Le online. If you do decide to go there, get your eye exam prescription and leave quickly. Unfortunately they have an odd cancellation policy that is not clearly disclosed. I ordered glasses, for $500, then called 2 hours later to cancel (unexpected, but I had to) and they refused to do so. They told me that my order was sent to the lab and already started so they refused to cancel it. They said I would have had to cancel within 10 min if I wanted a refund. I felt like this is manipulative and intentional to not allow anyone to be able to get a refund, ever. I feel violated and disgusted at this business practice of theirs. While it may have been in fine print, I do not know, but such an expensive purchase with a 10 min return policy that is not clearly and obviously disclosed does not sit right with me. If you're looking for a retail experience, look elsewhere. I was in need of getting some prescription lenses replaced and the manufacturer recommended this, among a few other places, to drop off my sunglasses for repair. So I was directed to their www to schedule the required appointment. But the website is clearly assuming I need to meet with an eye Doc ($$$ appt). I don't, so I call again, explain the situation, and am awarded an appt for 2pm same day. Arriving a few minutes early is detrimental as, unbeknownst to me, they have their doors securely locked like Fort Knox until they return from lunch at precisely 2pm and not one minute earlier. Then all 12 people waiting outside do a 10 yard dash to the sign in iPad where they record your facial ID, email, legal name, cell #, etc. Then you must sit in a waiting area that is modeled just like the DMV. Finally, you get your name called and someone asks you all the same questions you have already provided up to this point, including your email address etc. But alas, the one person that knows how to use the website of the manufacturer I am here to drop off for, is still out enjoying their lunch at 2:35pm. Nobody on staff can tell me the price for the repairs. So I get home an hour later with zero advancement on resolving the broken lens. Total waste of time in a communist-controlled laboratory. Last time I was purchasing new glasses, I tried these guys too but their soonest appt was 2 weeks out and didn't feel like waiting. Walked in and bought 4 sets of designer glasses at EyefiniTea in Morgan Hill, delightful experience there. Wish they had this particular line of sunglasses but will keep looking. I have been coming here for a few years now and in the beginning it was great 5 stars but I feel the customer service is lacking. Also I feel that they are getting more and more expensive every time I go in. I keep going back because I have a child that has custom eye lenses so that's all. Other than I don't buy eye glasses or sunglasses from them they are overly priced it and even if you bring in your own glasses. I have gone to other places and it's a lot less. The vibe that got from this firm seemed dishonest and my second visit really confirmed it for me. The wait is ridiculously long, feels very unorganized, and the staff here seems to be very focused on upselling. Making an appointment ahead of time still means you have to check-in at the front and wait about an hour before you are helped. It doesn't seem like your slotted appointment is respected at all. Unorganized. Once you are being helped, the staff may follow the "usual" procedure without really reading the notes or asking why you're here. I had made an appointment to get some contact lenses fitted because my lenses were expired. When I arrived they gave me a normal eye exam and neglected to do my contact lenses exam and rescheduled for me to come in again. I had already waited longer than I wanted, and at this pointed I wasn't excited about having to make another visit. Upselling. The staff will try to charge you for things that they were going to do for free anyways. For eye exam, the staff said I had a choice between using eye drop dilators (free) or using this fancy machine without dilators ($20). When asked if its okay to drive they said "the doctor does not recommend it". I chose dilator drops anyways. After telling the staff that I wanted dilators, she said she would put me on the machine free of charge. After getting my eyes photographed I waited in the meeting room and overheard the next customer. The customer after me was resented with the same dilemma but she chose the machine, and was charged $20. They also only recommend progressive lenses for everybody. The doctor is also dishonest and stingy. When I asked to try multiple brands of contact lenses, he gave me a trial box that is expired, reluctantly gave me HALF a box of the lenses from the second brand that I wanted to try. read more

THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY! Ordered the Ortho-K specialty lens that they had promised me 6 weeks to manufacture and deliver. After four months, all I get is "sorry, it took longer than it was supposed to" and "we will look into making sure it doesn't happen again in the future". I paid nearly $2,500 for this product/service and the customer service response from EyeC Optometry was the equivalent to ordering a burger at a restaurant. "Sorry we messed up your burger. We will make sure the next one will be better". Of course the business will respond to this review with either a platitude like "We are sorry. We strive for better. Etc etc etc". But please avoid this business. They stole my money and NEVER DELIVERED. Don't believe them. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. My husband has been coming to this office for years, I called yesterday to order a box of contacts, and the woman whom I spoke to asked if I wanted to pay for them over the phone. I had asked her if I did pay for them over the phone and if I could pick them up curbside since I'd have my son with me. She said that was fine to just call when I arrived. Fast forward to this morning, I arrived before they opened, and once they opened at 10 I called to have them bring out my order before ANYONE WALKED IN. So our company switched to a different Vision plan this year, we used to use VSP. I made appt appt with EYEC since they are a preferred provider. All I need is another RX for my contacts. I told Dr. Le that about 6 times, but he kept trying to get me to buy glasses. Said I need to wear glasses for 40 minutes every morning so my eyes can breathe. Like I literally need to wake up 40 minutes early every day and wtare at the walls with glasses on. Told him I've been wearing contacts for over 40 years, never heard such a thing. So we go through the exam and now I want my RX. He states I need to wait about 30 minutes, and then get "fitted" for "micro diagnosing". Once again, I advised him i've been wearing contacts for a long time, never heard of such a thing. So i sit down at a table and am told by the gal there that the "fitting" is 450.00!! I told them no way, give me my old contacts back, i'm leaving. Nope, they lost them and now I only have the "daily wear" they gave me, which I never wanted ( I do monthly wear). I pay them the 49.00 for the exam and they refused to give me my contact lense prescription and only gave me an RX for eye glasses. I then called Dr. Lu, my previous optometrist and was told fittings for contacts are rare and they charge no more than $70.00, it needed at all. EYEC is a scam, avoid at all costs. read more

Do not come here. Absolutely horrible every time. 3 years back they snapped my Versace frames and said "sorry" and I purchased another pair else where. Come to 2022 I come grab another Versace frame in hopes things have changed. Nope not the case. Not once,twice, but three times I have been given a used looking frame with scratches. It has been over 2 months and they cannot provide a fresh frame. Together the frame and lenses were $994. The frustration is astonishing at this point I feel like they are just messing with me. Do yourself a favor and please shop else where. I also had an issue here with contacts and the optometrist only offering/telling me he will only provide me a prescription for hard lenses. I went to Costco got soft lenses at a fraction of the price. I've take these loses and we'll it's a shame. Please I cannot stress this spend your hard earned money elsewhere. I use to really love this place but the last few years they have gone downhill with their customer service. I don't know if it is because another doctor came in or they have hired too many people that dont compare to the people that were there when i first started going. I repeatedly have left messages to order more contacts and do not get a call back. This has happened the last few times I've needed to order contacts. I shouldn't have to physically go in there to talk to someone. I'm very disappointed in what has happened to this practice. I know other people that don't get calls back as well when i referred them. The "elephant in the room" (waiting room) is the cloying air from a deodorizer/scent machine, which smells vaguely like a trash-bag deodorizer. Nauseating. And why? EyeC has this fog machine turned up past the levels of old hotels trying to mask mold! Once you get past the lobby stink gauntlet, the exam rooms are not bad. But my spouse had to flee after 1 minute on entry. We emailed last month to complain and request that they turn off the thick scent a day beforehand! No response. We called to follow up, but "the doctor does not allow direct communication." Can't give Dr. Dean a 1, as he's a great optometrist. But either he thinks a perfumed nasal assault will be welcomed by patients, or is covering something up, or his staff are running amok and have him cowed. If you are scent averse, EyeC is not the optometrist for you. read more

Again noticed each person walks out with Progressive lenses, not told it's a recommendation rather it's the only option and that doesn't sit right with me. My actual experience during eye exams and frame selection was actually pretty nice! The only thing is that when I asked for a print out of my prescription, they purposefully left out information that prevented me from buying contacts from anywhere else but them. I had no idea until I went to costco and they told me I couldn't get anything as they did not know what my base curve was... I had to go back, ask them to include the information, and wait a couple days for them to email it to me. SO inconvenient!! This whole experience ruined this place for me, it took me way too long to get what I needed and too many trips to their office and costco. read more

I went to EyeC Optometry on 1/22/21 for an annual exam. I made the appointment because I noticed some blurring in one of my eyes. I don't currently wear glasses so I felt that I should get an exam. When I arrived they had an iPad to check in for your appointment. I checked in and a woman let me in. It felt awkward. No one said "welcome we will be right with you" or anything other than "there's the sanitizer. " I took a seat, waited, once I was brought to a room they did a couple tests with a technician, they up sell you to the picture to avoid dilating your eyes. I went ahead and did the photo. Then went over to the main room to wait for the doctor. She came in, pretty friendly. I let her know my concerns with my blurry eye. She showed my the photo I spent extra on and it seem my hair went across my eye and obstructed the photo. She said "that's just your hair, it looks fine" They didn't recommend retaking the photo even though it was clearly not a good one. She did the exam, and we talked briefly then while writing out a prescription she said "oh what was that again?" then wrote out the prescription. I was walked back to the lobby and the ladies at the front desk said they will be with me in a few minutes to chose lenses. I just came for the exam to check the health of my eyes and a prescription if needed. I asked for my prescription to leave they charged me out and I left. As I was ordering glasses from an online vendor I noticed the prescription they gave me has the same script for both eyes. I found this concerning since I can see when closing one of my eyes there is a very big difference in vision. I contacted EyeC about my concerns and they said they would talk to the doctor and call me back. I then called two days later since I didn't hear from them and I got the same answer. I called the following day and no one answered my call at all and again today. I am really unhappy with the customer service, lack of response from the doctor and follow up. Solely giving 1 start because both of the Doctors I saw were very kind and professional. Front office staff fails to inform of copays! When I called to make my initial appointment, I provided all my information (SSN, insurance, etc.) for my vision insurance, which they obtained and added to my file. Fast forward about 4 visits later, I've been coming in for "follow ups" as the doctor requested. As I was making my appointment, one of the front office ladies started to check my file and asked me what my social security number was again... suspicious I provided it. She then asked if I had vision insurance, which again I informed I had provided that way in the beginning? AFTER I had already ordered, paid and got glasses from, with insurance paying partial of the amount. This started to concern me... Then she proceeded to ask ME what type of visit they are billing to? I work as a front office in a medical setting, I am pretty sure we don't normally ask the patients what to bill for to the insurance. I told her I was coming in for follow ups and this was the first time I was even asked this question. She then proceeded to "inform me" that they collect for these office visits and that I owe for the past times!! Mind you, I was NEVER informed of any of this information until now. Needless to say, I was very upset. I proceeded to explain this was never addressed to me and it was not my fault I did not know of any copays or any balances since I had been coming in with vision insurance! She kept repeating she apologized I didn't know and offered a "discount". Because I was upset and just wanted to leave, I proceeded to pay my "balance" and ended up cancelling my next appointment. I STILL don't believe I should have even paid in the first place since they failed to inform me each time I ever came in. We took our son to go get his eyes checked. He had been complaining about getting headaches when he was reading and watching his TV. So when Dr. Lee said he needed glasses we took him at his word. After all, he is the eye dr. The disgusting part is when we took our son to another Dr. For a check up and to make sure his eyes weren't getting any worse she informed us that the RX they gave us for our son was just a +.25 and in her words having someone recommend glasses with such a small RX was "HIGHLY UNETHICAL". While we all know $ makes the world go around one would think and Eye Dr would tell you that your child "NEEDS GLASSES before he gets worse" So in order to make money for himself Dr. Lee is a dirty UNETHICAL LIAR and will actually recommend strongly that you need to get glasses which one shouldn't wear when not needed. He was the only doctor listed or mentioned.... got there to find out my grandma was not going to be seen by Dr. Le but another doctor. We had a bad experience with this office. First, we waited so long for us to get my sons' eyeglasses. We understand the delay because of the pandemic and the type of insurance we have. However, we were told that we should be getting the eyeglasses before school starts. The school already started, and my kids don't have any eyeglasses to use because the previous one was already broken. We told EyeC Optometry that my kids are struggling to see, but it seems that they don't care! After over two months of waiting, we finally received their eyeglasses. When we received the eyeglasses, my kids noticed that there's something wrong with the prescription. After a week of using, we found out that they accidentally switched the prescription. My younger son has suffered from headaches for about a week for using his brother's prescription which is very high for him. And my other son can't see anything because he was using the wrong or low prescription. I called them several times to get an appointment, but no one was answering in my 8 attempts. I also left them a voicemail, but no one was returning my call. When I went to their office, the guy was kind of mad at me for showing up without an appointment. I was told that they accidentally switched the frame! This excuse was not acceptable! How come they issued an adult size frame to a tiny 9-year-old with a small face and a kid's frame to a teenager who is very tall to his age. It would be nice if at least they acknowledge their error of putting a wrong prescription It is going to be three months now since we placed the order, and we have not received the eyeglasses. It is frustrating because my kids are making follow-ups with us as they are having a hard time seeing! My husband and I have been going here for a few years now and there always seems to be an issue. On my last purchase I got 3 pairs of glasses. I work in construction and have to wear OSHA ANSI approved safety glasses. This last purchase I got every day glasses, prescription, sunglasses, and new prescription lenses in my safety glasses. When they first came back the sunglasses didn't have the right prescription so I had to bring them back and wait another 2 to 3 weeks for them to come in a month later I accidentally scratched my work glasses so I paid the insurance to get new lenses. They came back two weeks later, and I went and picked them up. I should've took them outside to see if the transitions worked because when I went to work Monday, my glasses had no transitions, even though I specifically asked if the insurance covered the transitions now I have to use my regular every day glasses while I'm at work, which is a safety hazard, there is too bright of a glare and no protection from flying objects tomorrow when I get to work I have to sandblast and I have to do it without my safety glasses and I've been waiting three weeks. It seems like it's always something with this place, they do not make it easy for you purchasing glasses here has turned into a major hassle. by the time I finally get my prescription glasses back for work. I'm gonna need a new annual check up.!! Why spend so much money just to be left waiting?? and then when I call, I get asked to be placed on a brief hold and I sit on hold for 10 minutes before I finally hang up without resolving my situation I do not recommend this place. I have been going to Dr. Le for a while. He's super funny and friendly. His team is awesome and very helpful. They carry an AMAZING selection of eyewear. I am very picky when it comes to frames and I always find the perfect fit/look/comfort with all the 3 glasses I have purchased with them. They also do a great job at adjusting the frames when the lenses have to be replaced. I experienced horrible service at Kaiser when I replaced the lenses, they didn't adjust the frames!!! So I got something stuck in my eye and went to the emergency room for Kaiser they told me there was no problem and nothing in my eye just a little scratch I wanted to get a second opinion so I came here and seen Dr. Lee he found four pieces of wood dust in my eye give me some anabiotic's everybody was super friendly including the doctor will recommend anybody great job guys read more

I have had such great experiences here! In all honesty my eyes are really bad and since I had just moved to Gilroy my co worker had recommended Dr.Le. Dr.Le was great, very helpful and friendly! I had also went to the other doctor, Dr.Shah for an office visit who was super nice and kind as well! I had to be put on progressives and the girl giving me my glasses, MJ was really helpful and patient with me when it came to explaining how they work.
