However, some of the members of their office staff are incompetent and rude. The latest incident was a complete mishap with advice that I was given as to how to order my contact lenses utilizing my insurance. Today, the office manager told me, "I'm so sorry you were told that." I was 'told that' by a member of YOUR staff. Way to not take responsibility for the complete misinformation YOUR staff gave me. I have filed a formal grievance with my insurance. This is a constant issue with Family Eye Care - some members of their office staff are rude and incompetent and they refuse to take responsibility for that. To keep and maintain loyal clients, you'd think a medical office would take responsibility for what a patient was told.

The side with the optometrist was also incredible. The staff was knowledgeable and welcoming. They were happy to answer questions. I was there as a walk in on a Saturday and couldn't have been more pleased with my experience. I was in nearby visiting family that watched my kids so I could go in. And even though I live nearly 2 hours away, I would happily make the drive next time I require an optometrist appt or new glasses.

Repeated this three more times in the space of 2 months. I asked about just getting a lens/different frame where this didn't happen and was told "we'll just put the lens back in". One other concern, usually when I am going through the battery of tests at other optometrists I've used in the past, they wipe down all the equipment before and after you use it. They did not do this, and I didn't think much of it other than noticing it. However, later that night, I came down with pink eye. I had not been around anyone else before or after, and I can only guess I got it from the testing equipment or while trying on the frames in the lobby, but I can't be sure. I had stye medicine at home, so I was able to take care of it myself without going to another doctor. If it were not for that, I would have given them five stars.

I had no idea how much prices went up In that time. They want me wearing them more so I got transition lenses that adjust to sunlight so I don't have wear sunglasses. The staff was very nice and helped me figure out my insurance and what would be covered. No pressure to buy just advice on what I need verses what's not necessary in my case. Found pair of frames I liked and they took care of the rest. In 2-3 weeks I should have my new glasses. They used to take old ones and lions club would get them but they don't do that or trade in anymore so it's best to keep old ones for back up. I chose to pay extra for exam to do pictures of my retinas instead of dilation. But I had a spot that needed monitoring so he had to dial ate them anyway lol.. the doctor was very nice and explained everything .

Never once did I speak to or see the optometrist. During my exam testing my right eye the eye chart was white and blurry, couldn't see any letters. I kept telling them this and they seemed like they didn't know what to do. Eventually they called my exam quits and said they couldn't continue because "something is wrong with your eye". They booked me an appointment with an in person optometrist 2 MONTHS out. If something was wrong I wouldn't be waiting 2 months. I ended up going an hour out of my way to New Bern to get a second opinion and they said nothing was wrong with my eyes. I'm perfectly healthy. It had to of been Stanton Opticals machine. I'm unbelievably pissed off with this place. You don't tell someone something is wrong with them before checking if your machines are working properly. Absolutely do not go here. It's a joke.

All I can say is AMAZING!!! I went to ER night before and the doctor stabbed a needle in my eye and…read morebasically just made it worse on top of waiting 5 hours. Reason for visit is cause I had a metal shard get in my eye cause I was doing some custom work to car, I was having issues with seeing, came to Dr. Carol Johnston office and spent not even 1min with her working on me and then she said done, I was like what you mean your done!! she removed the shard, rust, and gave anti drops and made me feel comfortable the whole time which by the way I was freaking out cause the ER put a needle in my eye so had a bad taste for it, which she didn't by the way, she has skills. Barely felt anything at all. I would absolutely refer and return back if needed. Thanks again.
