I LOVE this eye doctor. I really do. I got to see an actual eye doctor, in person, not this new…read morevirtual nonsense so many other places have defaulted to (ahem EyeCare center). I watched Dr. Taylor put in the prescription right then and there which was also fantastic, don't remember the last time I saw a doctor put everything in instead of an assistant. Dr. Taylor was extremely knowledgeable and answered all our questions and was very patient with us. Turns out my daughter has the unusual and rare anisometropia that will need correction but ultimately he left it up to us for when why. Anywhere else would have immediately put her in glasses and charged an arm and a leg for the insane prescription she needs. Can begin to say how much I appreciate being in charge of our care and wallet. They were fantastic enough to do both me and my daughter's appointment at exactly the same time. And I don't mean I did mine and she followed behind me. We were together for the entire appointment, PERFECT for a kid's first appointment or in our case someone who struggles speaking to strangers. Which actually wasn't a problem, partially because I was there and she was able to watch me and partially because of how great the staff was. They really were so great with her that I know that she won't need me with her but has the option of she wants me. They helped up maximize our insurance benefits which is one of the most important things. They didn't just max everything out they helped us get what we need and use all of our benefit, our out of pocket costs were negligible. I prefer contacts but I need prescription sunglasses for those days I don't wear contacts. Previous providers have just put in orders for contacts not even asking what I want and I walk out $600 lighter and ALWAYS have many contacts left over that what am I supposed to do with?? I was never allowed to just order a box or two, or more accurately I probably was the office just never let me because why would they? Jacksonville Visions Center however let me, I felt like I could actually ask questions and had control over what was happening. Dr. Taylor wrote the prescription for whatever I needed for a year but they are allowing me to order a few boxes at a time so I don't end up with a stock pile of contacts I don't need and don't know what to do with. I cannot rave enough at how patient, knowledgeable and helpful they were with helping my indecisive daughter pick her first pair of glasses. It is a very big decision and they were so AMAZING. I cannot remember her name ((I'll update when I do)) was so great. She put so much attention into making sure the glasses fit her face and complimented her. She was more than happy to collect all 59 pairs and let her keep trying them on. She had a great system for narrowing them down, let her walk around the store and hang out with them while I was searching so she could get a feel for them. It took a bit of time and effort but she found the perfect glasses and she is so happy with them. I believe she's had them 4 months now and she's not complained once, except of course she needs them tightened again and we know we just gotta head in to the office (today hopefully) and they'll get her situated. We REALLY love Jacksonville Vision Center. The only complaint I have is not knowing they existed before! We wasted so much time and energy with EyeCare center just to talk to a tv screen. My whole family has switched and we couldn't be happier. I am certain you will not regret seeing Dr. Taylor.

Professional and Friendly Staff. Very thorough and helpful. We have been coming here for 3 years…read more We have always received great service. We have never had a problem with getting a copy of our full prescriptions. We usually order glasses here, as the cost is partially covered by our insurance. We can use the prescription(s) (for reading glasses or sunglasses) elsewhere as well.

The most hurtful part is that the racist comments were directed at our children who are bi-racial. It is nearly impossible to make contact with the district manager. There is no corporate office so everything has to be done through the offending provider. Office staff manager lied repeatedly about the visit we had with them but fortunately, we recorded her lying, speaking over us while we tried to explain the situation, and we have the letter from the insurance company that contains her totally different statement than what she said on the phone. This woman and company are fraudulent. We are not dropping this and will pursue recourse via a lawyer in hopes that other families do not have to deal with that kind of treatment. DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES TO THE EYECARECENTER!

At the end of my appointment after picking out my glasses I was told by the front desk lady that my insurance did not in fact cover my eye exam or glasses. I had no idea my insurance had changed, if I did I would not have made an appointment. They told me to call the number on the back on my insurance card so I did. It was a struggle considering my eyes were still dilated and I couldn't read my insurance card, I would've asked one of the nice ladies at the desk to help me but I was too embarrassed. After calling my insurance to find out I no longer had any coverage, I went up to the front desk to tell them I will have to sort out my insurance and come back at a later date to pay my bill. Eventually I get new insurance and go back to the eye dr. Apparently getting insurance after your unpaid visit will still not cover that visit, not the drs fault I know that but I am still getting more frustrated. I leave and come back a few days later with my boyfriend who paid my bill for me. I was very excited to finally get my glasses. We pay and I ask for my glasses and the front desk lady says there are no glasses ordered for me because of my unpaid bill. Understandable but also I have been in this eye doctor twice now trying to pay my bill for my glasses, all I want are the glasses I picked out. My bill was 120 without the glasses. I was very nice but I'm very upset. I know all of this frustration and confusion could have been avoided if the original front desk lady checked my insurance before sending back for a full eye exam and picking out glasses. Simple easy mistake but it did leave me upset enough to feel the need to write a review

Even with my insurance, my glasses were over $1000, and I brought in my old frames to use. I will continue to use the eye doctor, but I'll have to think twice about getting glasses at this price. I didn't even go for the top brands. One other concern, usually when I am going through the battery of tests at other optometrists I've used in the past, they wipe down all the equipment before and after you use it. They did not do this, and I didn't think much of it other than noticing it. However, later that night, I came down with pink eye. I had not been around anyone else before or after, and I can only guess I got it from the testing equipment or while trying on the frames in the lobby, but I can't be sure. I had stye medicine at home, so I was able to take care of it myself without going to another doctor. If it were not for that, I would have given them five stars.

They want me wearing them more so I got transition lenses that adjust to sunlight so I don't have wear sunglasses. The staff was very nice and helped me figure out my insurance and what would be covered. No pressure to buy just advice on what I need verses what's not necessary in my case. Found pair of frames I liked and they took care of the rest. In 2-3 weeks I should have my new glasses. They used to take old ones and lions club would get them but they don't do that or trade in anymore so it's best to keep old ones for back up. I chose to pay extra for exam to do pictures of my retinas instead of dilation. But I had a spot that needed monitoring so he had to dial ate them anyway lol.. the doctor was very nice and explained everything .
