My experience has been less than EZ. The plans have been over engineered for a single story house. Specific framing plans have not matched up which has made it a nightmare for our contractors. Need for clarification on plans when discrepancies were discovered was met with finger-pointing and calls from Michael complaining about our inept crew while admitting there's things you just need to figure out. We still do not have clear plans. We have had multiple meetings with the City to advise who have confirmed everything is overdone without consideration of the property. The delays caused by the plans and inattention to detail, inaccurate purchases and problematic customer service to answer questions has cost us time (an additional 6 months and counting) and over $63K (and counting). Still more issues are arising. Not recommended. read more

I cannot speak highly enough of EZ Plans and their amazing team. I needed to create additional living space in order to move my aging parents in, one of whom is wheelchair-bound, from out of state. EZ Plans designed the plans for my garage ADU conversion/existing home addition remodel. As this was my first renovation project, EZ Plans walked us through the process seamlessly. From the start, Lesley not only gave us a realistic timeline, but also gave a transparent pricing breakdown of the proposed project. Lesley and Michael connected us with our amazing architect, Maria, who really brought our vision to fruition. Maria patiently worked with us to design a plan that would combine the needs of my parents, as well as myself. From coordination of site visits, to connecting us with potential contractors once the plans were finalized. Once the plans were approved, Cindy helped coordinate site visits, and connected us with some of their vetted contractors for bids. I also chose to get "outside" bids, but ultimately selected one of their vetted contractors, as they were the best fit. Now, as we embark on the construction phase of the renovation, they continue to provide support through this arduous process. This was our first time doing a big job like this and EZ Plans was amazing! They were highly recommended by my Contractor and they answered all my questions (and there were many) and heard my concerns. Everyone was great... Ray, Glen, Lesley, Moumita. We poured new foundation for a portion of our house, designed a new kitchen & laundry room as well as planned ahead for a 2nd story addition. I've had many projects requiring architects the traditional way. After moving from SF to LA during the pandemic, I needed to find a new architect within the new normal of our world. EZ Plans sends out a 3D scan photographer to map out the site as a prep to a preliminary meeting over video. In someways a more convenient and bundled method than doing a single walkthrough with an architect. Each step of the process was thoroughly explained, great communication by each member of the team. Pilar and Michelle, my contacts at EZ Plans, took a deep dive into the history of the property to discover both the limitations and restrictions of my ADU project. In the end they were able to unlock a huge gain on square footage that I didn't think would be possible. Before I knew it, we were already looking at the first version of the layout, and the team was very open about my suggestions and changes. Two or three rounds later, they were off to the city. Four months later, we had our permit. Very "EZ", and everything was well "Plan"ed. ;). Highly recommended at 1/3 or 1/2 the cost of a traditional architecture firm. read more

I had a on line meeting with them and right off the start felt very comfortable based on all my questions and their answers. Price well they were almost 4k more than my 2 other architects but the most important thing for me was the fact that i new this was going to be the best decision to go with them and i did. From the beginning i worked with Pilar who is amazing from designing and communication. She was there for me at all times with super fast responses. Everything they told me and had down on my contract matched and they never failed. Again thank you so much Pilar you are the best. Since then i have already given them a new project i have that they are working on and again same delivery of what they promised. Elated after having our house addition plans permitted by the city yesterday! We have a mid century home in Woodland Hills that we are having a 350i-sh sq ft addition done and needed plans for. This is a great team with a pricing concept that's clear and excellent service all around. We are doing demo today after a several month iterative process for an interior redesign of most of our 3300 sq ft - 3 baths, kitchen, folding glass wall, flooring and some room reconfigurations. Glen, Moumita and the entire office were exceptionally thoughtful and helpful. The office are building dept wizards, too, and seems to have a great ability to turn around permits. This was a major undertaking and while we had many ideas, we were newbies. Ray suggested working with their independent interior design contractor, Jessica Patterson, who is a delight with good ideas and also super-collaborative. The goal was to have a complete package with finishes to bid out, and while it turned out we found our own contractor, he tells me the interior design plans are among the best he's seen. Not really knowing where to start in the stressful planning of a whole house remodel, I decided to start with looking for an architect. Some architects charge a percentage of the total cost of the work done on the remodel, whereas EZ plans charges a fixed fee. I liked the idea of a fixed fee and decided to make an appointment for a consultation. I first met with Mark via zoom and he explained the entire process and addressed all of my questions. Impressed with the consultation, i decided to proceed with working with them. I was then assigned to Pilar, the senior designer manager, who drew up the plans for my future home. I went over with her the things that my family wanted in the newly designed home. We wanted to have a larger kitchen, two master suites, and walk in closets. She was so patient and receptive to our requests. We went back and forth a couple of times and each time she made the necessary changes to the plans and each time it was better than the last. She understood my vision for the house and made it so much better than I could've ever imagined. She transformed our house from a 3 bedroom/2bathroom to a 4 bedroom/3bathroom with two master suites. She regularly kept me updated via phone calls and emails and before I knew it, ours plans were ready for permits. Overall I have had an amazing experience with working with the EZ Plans team specifically Fernando, Mark, Pilar, Michelle, Lesley, and Cindy.
