I was scared when Dr. Barnes was thinking about retiring, but now I see how great Dr. Klochak is and I see myself going to see this dentist for the rest of my life. I have a filling that's cracked but before "Dr. Sam" even looked he was mentioning a root canal! I know my teeth, Dr K has replaced a few of my fillings and even done 2 crowns. Dr Sam not only wouldn't give reason not to do this, but identified a filling as a crown! When he pointed to a filling on the x-ray and called it a crown, then argued when I said it wasn't a crown, I knew my days coming here were OVER!!! I posted that in a Google review and they came back saying things that should not be posted to the public. They also sent me a denial letter telling me they will only take care of me for EMERGENCY purposes only and for only the next 30 days! I guess that is ok since I am never going there again! Some more on the visit that I didn't put in the original review: He walked in and said "It looks like you're going to need a root canal." That was how he greeted me, you would think open your mouth and let me see where the problem is would have been more appropriate! But, who am I to have a mind? Go check out the review and reply they gave on google maps, it might make you wonder what else they do with your information!

However, during my appointment, two different people took my X-rays. It seemed like the first person might have been in training, because several images had to be retaken before a more experienced staff member stepped in. I've never had so many X-rays redone in one visit, which was frustrating and concerning. Then, as I was leaving the office and walking through the building's main entrance, I saw a mouse stuck in a glue trap right by the front door. That was disturbing and left a bad impression. To be clear, the mouse and trap were not inside the dental office itself, but at the main entrance to the building where the practice is located. It's just that most of your preventative dental care is handled by the hygienists and the staff here just went downhill over time. The last few times I went in for cleanings they weren't good and the hygienist was odd. I'm assuming this is an ongoing issue as more recently when booking appointments, people were asked if they had a preference of hygienist (which wasn't usual before). The piece that sent me over the edge is that one of the women who works at the front desk (who always seems annoyed that you're there and is incredibly rude in her speaking tone) scheduled a cleaning appointment for me and gave me an appointment card. I put the date and time immediately into my Google calendar because, let's be real, I live and die by Google calendar. Then out of the blue, a week before my appointment, I get a call that I missed the appointment. I explained that I'd been told it was the following week. The woman argued with me and said it would be a $60 cancelation fee before I could reschedule. Because I'm known to lose my cool at bad customer service, I had my much calmer and much more successful at negotiating customer service issues husband follow up. After a couple calls back and forth, even his gentle soul was done with the rude behavior. We pay far too much for insurance to receive bad customer service - I'm the first to critique it at a restaurant, why it's taken me so long to stop putting up with bad health care service is a mystery to me. So that put us on the hunt for another dentist who actually had a decent staff - there's gotta be a good one around Bad News somewhere, right?

Let's delve into how the year went. For all the appointments, it was all cleaning. There were no cavities found during each stop. I admit I kind of slacked off on dental flossing, but nothing out of the ordinary. I did have a 3rd visit where I had some pain on my lower gums when I drank cold beverages, but it was an exposed root which was fixed with solution. Also, with having TMJ which affects my jaw popping, I would have to get a mouth guard in the future. But for now, everything is fine for the time being. Well, there you have it. Good care for my teeth with no major hiccups. Let's hope it stays that way in the near future.
