Upon entry I was greeted by their very friendly staff and prompted to fill out forms. They inform customers that they bring the facial out of the spa so it's a semi private experience. Shortly after my aesthetician retrieved me from the waiting area to start the facial. I had my own room for a facial and they were curtains for dividers; for me it was enough privacy. During my facial she went through every product that was being used and we had light friendly conversation. She examined my skin, I felt gave honest feedback, and customized my facial based on needs. During my facial she did a few extractions which were need it. After the facial she let me know which product she felt were beneficial for my skin versus ones that I should reconsider. Its nestled in busy Virginia highlands but there's plenty of street parking for free. I got started a little late due to some miscommunication, but my esthetician Emoni definitely made up for it! Once I I got there, I was given a form to fill out about my skin and its history. She offered me water which I appreciated and I was also given a fresh robe to wear. I had the option to stay in my clothes, but dressing out made me feel like I was really getting a spa day (: the room they use is spacious with lots of products on display which I appreciated. There was also a tv playing a loop of music videos which kept me entertained! Emoni thoroughly reviewed my skin and its needs before proceeding. She seemed very knowledgeable, confident, and bubbly! I was laid down on a bed similar to any spa, and covered under a blanket. She started off with rubbing oil into my skin. This supposedly helps to draw out toxins before applying cleanser. I found this so interesting, she dropped lots of knowledge that I'll definitely have to add to my skincare routine! She followed that with an African black soap cleanser, and then a pumpkin/papaya scrub! Between each product she cleansed my face with a warm towel and consistently massaged it into my skin, which felt amazing! We also had great conversation the whole time!! She also had a steamer above me for hydration, which felt wonderful. Butter bar offers lots of services, but I chose to go with dermaplaning. I was afraid of pain or being cut but none of that happened. I almost couldn't feel it at all, and I immediately noticed that my skin felt smoother. She also did extractions specifically on my nose which left amazing results. She ended with another healing oil and my face still feels moisturized now! (My appointment was at 1130, I was late on my behalf and called ahead to let them know. Honestly worked out because she was unable to the eyebrow tinting that was booked. I got undressed and she did not enter for another ten minutes. I got the under arm wax. The wax was burning hot. She then went to do the summer body. That lasted about 30 minutes. No extractions we're done and I have plenty of blackheads I was hoping she'd look at. There was no micro dermabrrasion done. She did the roller, left the room for twenty minutes. I was left exposed with curtains open and people walking in and out. got the first part done of applying the different products and dermaplanning. That last about 30 minutes. She them popped a few pimples, left me laying in a freezing cold room naked with only the towel wrap for 20 minutes, came back only to clean up the room for another ten minutes, wiped it off and told me I was done. Then I stood around for another 15 minutes waiting for a supervisor in the Houston location to correct the purifying for there summer fine body service to their promo code. Lasted longer than the actual service. I then called the Houston location after leaving to speak to a supervisor. He basically blew my issue off then asked what the problem was after telling him what happened. He then responded, I'll call you right back" and I have heard nothing. Very disappointing. The entire service time was awkward. She did not seem interested in even doing it. Normally one would walk through each step and explain what is being put on. Besides the fact that half of what was described and shown on social media was not done, I still had to pay for it. Then asked for a tip and given personal business card as if the service was even enjoyable for either of us! In reaching out on email and Instagram, no one has helped. Absolute waste.

I've been here twice, both times for an eyebrow wax... first visit went well, eyebrows looked fine…read more My SECOND visit (about a year after the first)... upon arriving there, the girl at the front desk told me the place was appointment only, and instructed me to come back 30 min later, which I was fine with, but thought it was weird since it was only 30 minutes. 30 min later, I come back to the store, and got my eyebrows waxed... the girl who did my wax was super nice, but unfortunately she ripped the skin off my eyelid :( I've had waxes done in other places, and I've NEVER had this issue! I was so confused when she told me. Fast forward 10 min after leaving the place, my eye begins to swell up (see attached photo). I am not on any antibiotics, retinol, AHA, etc. that would cause my skin to be thin. After doing some research, I now think her waxing technique was off, thus ripping my skin off off. I was sad this happened, because the location is great if you live in midtown, but I am really disappointed in this. She took $5 off my total price (normal price is $15 for an eyebrow wax), but I tipped her thinking the rip wasn't that bad. Well, my eye has been stinging and I hope this doesn't scar. The eyebrows look fine, but am confused as to why the skin on my eyelid was ripped off.

We discussed my service and decided to go with hard wax this time. Hard wax usually seems way more painful to me than sugaring but Kimberly made it very comfortable compared to my previous experiences. She was extremely sweet and carried on a good convo to keep me distracted. This will definitely be my new go to and I will always book with her!
