I was at the window peering inside, promising myself that I'd return during business hours. Then I saw the twirl of two knitting needles and noticed a person was holding them, working on their own project. To my shock, the sign on the door listed hours until 11 pm. I saw the neon "OPEN" sign alit, but I assumed that someone forgot to turn it off. When you step inside you feel like you've entered a cozy new dimension. The owner, Ellie, gave me a tour of the magical space. I got to see the custom coffin where they dry their hand dyed yarn, the knitting group room where you can come in and work on creative projects with others or hop onto the Google meet rooms and join them virtually. Ellie also offers a FREE knitting class. There's also a larger selection of yarn than you'd think from the small storefront. Inside you'll find more than one room of assorted yarn. I walked away from what felt like a sanctuary with a bounty of beautiful heavyweight acrylic that I'm using to make pompoms. In this time of endless subscriptions and fewer third spaces, it's touching to see a business foster community the way that YarNOLA is doing. I can't wait to go back.

Decided to check this place out after looking for local yarn stores and I adored it!…read more Small location but big selection. They have a unique selection of hand dyed yarn from various dyers around the country and their own hand dyed yarn (dyed in shop!) as well as a large selection of colors and materials of imported yarn. How do I know all of this? The owner gave me a tour of the whole place and told me about each of the dyers she sells for. It was amazing! She also listened to what my upcoming project was and provided suggestions of yarns for me! The hand dyed yarns aren't cheap, but they are 100% worth the cost, especially with many of them having a percentage of the purchase going to a cause. They are pretty comparable to the cost of most hand dyed yarns I've seen. The imported yarn is a great price! Cheaper than a lot of other places and I was a big fan of the ones I bought. They also have some awesome handmade acrylic crochet hooks in fun colors! Highly recommend, especially if you are looking for an alternative to big box craft stores.

I put mine in cheap spice bottles with the original labels and it worked great for me! LOVE the contests, the fun craft events and then even better inspiration. I had a lot going on in my life and this was a great source of fun and inspiration for me! I miss their store and everything they did for the community! Glad to still be following on facebook and looking forward to their next chapter!

I have been here a few times for Krewe events. I keep trying to like this place, but I have a hard…read moretime. First: the positives... there is a huge selection of glitter. Also? There's a lot of workspaces, so if you're there for a craft day or krewe party, there's room to spread out and have your space. Also? They have a bathroom, and it seems pretty cleaned and stocked, so no complaints there Now, the reasons that this is my least favorite glitter place in the Greater NOLA area... 1. the cost -- the amount you spend for the little bit of glitter that you get? It's not worth it. Yes, if there is a specific krewe blend that you're looking for and want to support that, fine, splurge. For me? that's way too pricey. 2. the containers. The glitter is given to you in a sealed bag that is filled with static and has no way to reclose. It's not ziplock, it's not a reusable jar. It's a waste of plastic that you have to replace as soon as it's opened. It's incredibly impractical, and if you have a huge stock of glitter to begin with, it becomes annoying to try to find another container to store it. If you need glitter, or things for your spinner cup thingys, they're an option. However, for the price and product, definitely no where close to where I'd go with so many other options available in the GNO area.
