This review should not come as surprise as I had a multiple conversations with folks at the company. This was a rough experience. After the storm last march 2025, maybe they took on more work than they could handle? This was the worst communication, logistics and administration I've ever seen from any company...period. Ghosting, lack of updates, no information, and missed appointments with no updates afterwards. My house was hit by the OFallon tornado in March. Got the claim processed and contacted FM, as I had worked with them many years ago on another property. Back then, everything was great. It took a huge amount of work on my part just to get updates. I'd be told they would get back with me on Friday...nope. I'd be told that I'd have to talk to the project manager. If only there was some way to track information..... like....a spreadsheet...a calendar...anything. No one apparently communicates internally, nor is anything tracked. I can only imagine the chaos. I have no idea how they are still up and running. By July, I had to threaten to leave to finally get some responses. After a heart to heart with the Ronaldo, I thought I made headway on getting some basic customer service. Nope...multi delays with no update. Multiple failed returned calls. At this point, I just wanted to get it done and move on. More delays, more lack of any communication. I had solar panels they said they would work with my solar company. They did not. I had to take care of that myself. Roof eventually got done. By November, I was hoping to get my siding done. It was a fairly small job. The siding guy is the only reason it is a 2 star versus 1 star. He was actually talking with me and keeping me in the loop on the status of things. That poor guy ended up working darn near Christmas to get it done, so I appreciate his hard work. There was still delays a few times to get the right siding. Mind you, this was 9 months after my house was damaged. I can't really speak to the quality of work. I can say that I am a little worried based on the rest of the experience I had. Chaos and poor management rarely translates to quality work. So far, the quality does seem fine. But for the other reasons I listed. The god awful communication, the terrible logistics and the absolutely absent administration, please avoid FM Exteriors if you can. read more

Awful company and overall a terrible experience... Look at the other reviews and comments about them on social media since the March 2025 storms. Run away as fast as you can. They replaced a couple pieces of siding a different time and were great so when we got storm damage requiring a new roof, siding, gutters, and windows, we called them. We called the day after the storm, I believe and they came out quickly and the sales guy was very nice. We signed to have them so the work and believed that they could do windows too but then it was determined they could not do the windows so we had to contract with another company which was a hassle. The biggest issues with FM were: unreliability and not living up to promised timelines on multiple occasions, failure to communicate and document matters (the number of unreturned phone calls was staggering... Just a few weeks ago I got a call that they had the materials in for our job which had been done a few months ago which seems to indicate a general incompetence), and the quality of work and cleanup. One example of the quality of work, when they put up a floodlight in the back yard after redoing the siding it was wired incorrectly and kept tripping a breaker. I sent a text photo to company employee I had been communicating with and he never responded. The ground wire was unattached and the other wires were improperly connected. In terms of cleanup from the job, they left materials at our house in the middle of the front yard for weeks and we found so many nails and even large pieces of scrap metal everywhere including on the back patio which should not have been missed. There are molding pieces and some of the siding/trim that are loose and not well done too. As for communication and timing, there were multiple times I was told the work would be done the following week or within two weeks and each time we ended up with a no-show and tried to contact "Rolando" who seemed to be in charge of materials and scheduling install and he would be delayed and not get back to us for some period of time. Eventually it finally all got done, but months after it was supposed to be completed. I know the storms stretched companies thin and there were supply chain issues, but this company over-promised and under-delivered. I absolutely would not use them again. read more

Over a year ago we went into a contract for some work needing done including roofing after a big storm. A large deposit was required and we were told multiple time in 2025 they would start the project. Between the weather and overwhelm they kept pushing us back. We are now 14 months into waiting with multiple phone calls and emails and no answers to when they will start. I received an email back in April from Rolando starting that the project would begin any time between May through the first week of June 2026. I've been emailing and calling telling FM Exterior we need updates and want to know when materials are ordered since this is why the large deposit was needed in the first place. When talking to Alyssa who is the person running the office she will not give out any management numbers and will only give out the project managers email who is also not responding. 14 months later nothing has been done, no open communication has been sought out to us and nobody will give us firm answers. If it would allow zero stars in the rating I would give them zero if it was an option. read more

Terrible company. Steer clear and run or I promise you that you will be paying for all their shoddy work. I'm not talking 5 years down the road, I'm talking days, weeks, months and you will continue to find where they cut corners. We had water coming into our house on multiple occasions because they didn't properly flash and seal exhaust fans. I've had it with trying to get them to correct things that should've have been done. My experience has not been great with FM Exteriors. I was referred to FM Exteriors by a good friend of mine. He raved about the quality of their work. We has a huge tornado damage in our town and i had another contractor chosen to start the project. We need a new roof, gutters, downspouts and siding, so I decided on my friend's recommendation to go with FM Exteriors. FM Exteriors asked for a check right away to our set the supplies. I picked out roof samples and siding over 4 months ago. I have Thad 1 conversion with FM Interiors project manager (Rolando) over a month ago and have had 2 text in between. I have heard nothing more from Rolando. Our roof was to be started by end of November and we still don't have any materials or text regarding when they plan on starting our project. Winter is here and I'm hoping our roof will hold out. We gave money in good faith to a company that has decent reviews, but horrible communication with their customers. I am hoping our project will get completed soon. FM Interiors is not good with communication with their customers. read more

At first, they were very responsive in working with my insurance adjuster. Once they received the initial payment from my insurance claim, crickets. They did not give me weekly updates on my project and were not responsive until I asked for refund of my downpayment. Suddenly roofing materials were delivered. They were also supposed to repair my siding but they failed to find a match and made excuses about this for several months. I am working with a different company on the siding and they were able to match it in 5 minutes. Overall weird experience with FM. I'll never use them again. read more

I agree TOTALLY with the previous reviewer, Tony. They did exactly the same thing. They came and when they worked, they worked great. But they did leave trash and even DAMAGED the drive way. Then they claimed that there was a clause that allowed them to do that. Funny, I dont know of any companies that allow you to break people's property as part of their contract! Don't know how this company is still in business. They took 30 grand from my insurance company to fix repairs on my home from a big hail storm in 2012. This past December (2015), the roof began leaking and damaged the interior ceiling in my daughters room. It was warranty work, and it's been a nightmare to get them over to fix it. It's now May 2016 and it's still not finished. Do NOT use this business. You'll just get F'd by them. read more

I heard through word of mouth about this company so I called and scheduled an appointment. I met with salesman Scott who was very professional and knowledgeable. Whenever I had a question, he answered/returned all my calls throughout the entire process of having my roof installed. They did an excellent job installing the roof. It was completed within a couple hours just as Scott assured me. He also came out to the job site to make sure everything was staying on track as promised. After the roof was installed, I had a few concerns about how my gutters were placed back on the roof. I contacted Scott once again, with no hesitation, he had a guy back out to the house to fix the gutters. I am very pleased with the work done on my home. I would definitely recommend and use them again in the future! read more

My gutters were overflowing and I didn't have a ladder tall enough to investigate myself. Called F-M to if they could fix. They had a person at my house within a day. Provided me with a text picture of the situation. One of my gutter guards was missing and the gutter was jammed with leaves. (F-M did not install the gutter guards). They cleaned the gutters and fixed the gutter guard the next day. They charged me a minimum service charge which I felt was very reasonable. Great Experience for me for what I am sure was a very small project for them. read more

In the beginning, the experience with the pre-adjuster team was great. They were very professional advocates on my behalf with the adjuster. Once the job was ordered, the crew did a great job installing the new roof and cleaning up after themselves, although they left the trash trailer in my driveway overnight, blocking my garage access. After the job is when the problems began. I realize the recent hailstorm has everyone busy, but their lack of follow-up with some problems we had with screen replacement were unacceptable. After numerous calls and missed appointments, their production manager finally came out to the house and promised quick repairs. Nearly a month later no repairs, which forced me to call the original pre-adjuster rep out, who promptly got the job done to my satisfaction. To add injury to the problems was the receipt of a final bill telling me "The work is complete, please pay the balance." to which I replied "not a penny till the work's done." Would I recommend them, yes; however, you've got to stay on top of them or they will forget about you. read more

Had FM contracting repair approximately 18 ft ( 2 sections one 16 ft the other 2 ft) of fascia on 22 Feb 11 at the cost of $548.00 , they used 5 nails through the side to hold to install the 16 ft piece, it came off the evening of 19 Apr 11. The installer said this was storm damage and not covered under the warranty. Contacted owner, he sent some to look, they feel 5 nails in the side is adequate and the storm we had on the 19 was the reason it came off, and I could pay another $85.00 service fee to have them climb on my roof and reinstall the same way. I have since read several articles about installing fascia, every article I have read the worst way to install is nailing it through the side. read more

My husband and I had used this company before for a minor roof leak and we were very happy with the service and the work. We used them again to repair our property from the hail damaged sustained in April. My husband and I had relocated to another state when this occured so we were very concerned about getting the house repaired. We contacted this company again and had the process of getting our house fixed. It took longer than what we expected but we knew this would happen since the storm caused a lot of damaged to everyone's home. In the end, we are very pleased with the work done. We had used F-M Exteriors previously for some lifted shingles. When the hailstorm hit in April, 2012, I called the day of the storm (a Saturday) and was very surprised to have a response from Nikki in the office that same day. She asked if the damage was bad enough as they would send someone out. We didn't have any leaks so that was not necessary. The first part of the process with F-M and meeting with our insurance adjuster etc went smoothly. I was more than impressed with meeting the owner when he came out, Nikki in the office (then Mary) and Tim Smith. F/U was great and awesome customer service. We did run into some issues when the actual work was to be done. I was not happy with the clean up process after the roof was put on, BUT, I am extremely picky and realize that the massive amount of work these contractors had going on some things were missed. As another review I read stated, there was a person overseeing the crew (no longer associated with F-M) that dropped the ball when it came to the other repairs being completed. Also, I found out one day as a friend was passing by our home, that someone was on our roof (luckily it was a member of F-M team) but we/the homeowner, were not made aware of this. Mis-communication on part of F-M team and that was quickly resolved. F/u with Dan Werner and again Tim Smith made things run more smoothly and all work was completed to our satisfaction. Once I met with the owner and was told of some things that they were up against that I was not aware of, I totally understand how the mistakes could and did happen. I already referred them to a friend that had a small roofing issue and I WOULD use them again and be glad to refer them to anyone needing assistance.
