This was my first time attending an Orangetheory class in Nashville, and unfortunately, it was a…read morefrustrating experience from the start. First, the parking situation is a nightmare. The turn-in to the lot is extremely narrow and my Jeep Wrangler barely made it through. If you drive anything larger than a sedan, be warned: it's a very tight squeeze and not easily accessible. Once inside, I had questions about parking and class logistics, but the front desk staff gave me pretty dry, short answers. I had signed up for a "Strength" class, but as someone new to OTF, I didn't realize there were two different formats running simultaneously - one focused on the treadmill, the other on weights. When I was asked where I wanted to go, I said "tread" without understanding that it meant I'd be on it for the entire class (I thought just a starting point/ warm up). About 30 minutes into the class, I realized I may have messed up. I went to the front desk for clarification, but no one was there. So, I approached the coach as quietly and respectfully as possible. I explained I had mistakenly joined the wrong group and asked to switch to the weight room, which still had an open spot (and where I was originally scheduled). The coach immediately dismissed my request, saying, "If I let you do it, I'd have to let everyone do it," even though I clearly didn't understand the class setup and was trying to correct an honest mistake. Also why would everyone else want to switch if they were signed up for treads? She seemed more annoyed than understanding, and didn't offer any real solution. I then asked if I could use the rower instead of running (I have bad knees and don't enjoy running), but again she refused, saying others might want to do the same. The rowers were empty. The only option she gave me was a stationary bike and by that point, I just felt completely dismissed and unwelcome. I come to the gym for the helpful guidance and support from the trainers and staff or else I would just use my apartment gym on my own. I minus well have today.

The programming is always well-planned, including accessory lifts after the main lift, and a challenging WOD. I never feel like we are too focused on one specific area. This is the 3rd crossfit gym I have attended and this one is top notch. The programming is well thought out and I appreciate that Kyle does all the programming himself. If you want to improve your fitness and if you want to improve your barbell work this is the place for you. The form on my lifting has improved significantly since starting here because the coaches take the time to coach you and help you work on your form. This gym is very inclusive and they want everyone to know that. When you are new to an area it can be challenging to make friends and everyone here is building a community and will always welcome anyone to join.

The screens show the workout so it's nice to follow along. As someone who isn't the most experienced in fitness, I felt comfortable and there is usually a coach who will help with adjusting weights or providing modifications when needed. It's also nice that you are doing the workouts "with other people", but you have your own lane to do your own thing. I also love that they have an infrared sauna and two lanes for open gym. Talk about flexibility for our busy schedules! There's a class every 7 minutes for pretty much an entire day (even in the middle of the day), so this allows me to come whenever I have time and I will never miss a class here. Ashley, who is the owner, is the absolutely best! She made my friend and I feel so welcomed all week. We love to see a woman-owned gym and she's just an amazing person! During the week, I also got to know Keith and Myles, and they were awesome, encouraging, and really helpful. Highly recommend everyone to try this gym. They have a week trial and I got hooked after my trial and signed up!

The tv guides you what moves to do and for how long. But if you don't like it just switch it out for something else. If you have authority issues like I do because you had a traumatic childhood and sometimes when you get yelled at you freeze, but still need guiding during a workout, then this place is for you my friend! And there is usually dogs here which makes my heart so happy and is my fun reward for post workout. I will run barefoot through hot broken glass if it means I get to cuddle a puppy afterwards.
