It's been awhile since I've visited the mill, but I was just talking about it with someone today!…read more The mill has a shop with a wide variety of yarn colourways and weights available. The last time I was there I bought a kit for thrummed mittens that included a gorgeous colourway I hadn't seen in any other yarn shops and the pencil roving for thrumming. They sell a number of patterns that work well with their yarn as well. (I learned to knit socks using the "Heavy Socks" pattern and am learning to knit mittens using their pattern as well.) As it wasn't too busy while we were there, they actually took us into the mill and let us look around, though they made sure that we stayed safe and didn't touch anything! It was really neat to be able to see what a wool mill looks like behind the scenes. If you visit, I recommend you see if it's possible to take a peek! While the mill might seem a bit out of the way, it's worth the visit and there is plenty of parking from what I remember. You can buy B&L in almost every yarn shop, but there's still something special about buying directly from the mill. If you're a fibre fan, this mill should be on your list of places to visit!
