My daughter wanted to get her ears pierced for her 6th birthday yesterday, so I was on the search for a place to go where I could trust the person putting holes in my baby's ears. I found Facets through Park Slope Parents, and I called ahead to let them know about when we planned to come in. They were super friendly on the phone and when we got to the store, Gabby assisted us with the piercing. She was wonderful with my daughter. She worked really hard to ensure that the holes were evenly aligned, and she made my daughter very comfortable during what could be a scary experience. My daughter was super excited and had the biggest smile on her face the whole time! I couldn't be happier with our choice to go to Facets for this experience. The WORST customer service I have ever ever ever experienced in my life. They are EXTREMELY slow, non responsive and do a poor job of setting expectations for what kind of work you will receive. We are very unhappy about our experience here. The sales woman in the store seemed friendly at first, but later she judged out loud that we could not afford buying what we were looking for, based on our casual attire. Also, in the middle of a transaction, after we had already spent money, she tried to change the terms of our agreement to her advantage. I had an interesting start to my experience with Facets. I took my engagement ring in to be re-sized at the 9th street location. The woman that I worked with was very nice and worked with me to find the perfect size. I was told that I would receive a phone call with an estimate and once I gave approval the ring would be resized. A few days later I called Facets because I hadn't heard anything and I wanted to make sure that I got my ring back in time for the wedding. The woman told me that my ring was ready to be picked up. I was confused because I never gave approval to resize my ring. Regardless, I went after work to the store to pick up the ring. I arrived at 7:20pm (the store is supposed to close at 7:30pm) and the gates were down and door was locked. This probably wouldn't have been a big deal but I was getting married in 10 days and I made the trip to Brooklyn to pick up my ring. Needless to say I was EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED. I called the store to at least leave a voicemail and Gaby, the woman from the Facets on Union Street picked up. My experience with Gaby was PHENOMENAL. She listened to what happened, apologized, and problem solved with me to figure out how I was going to pick up my ring. She ended up bringing it to the union store and personally gave it to me. I am so thankful for the way Gaby worked with me. It was the HIGHEST level of customer service. If I hadn't gotten a hold of Gaby I don't think I would be rating Facets with 5 stars but after my experience with her I would recommend this jeweler to anyone. The ring is gorgeous (you can't even tell it has been resized) and I will be going there in the future. Just wanted to put in a good word for FACETS. I visited their store on 9th Street between 6th and 7th avenues (closer to 7th and around the corner from Brooklyn Industries) and had a great experience. They have really wonderful choices - in a wide range of prices. I was shopping for a graduation gift for my god daughter so I knew my price range but that was it. Kristine was so helpful and patient and really thought it through with me as I narrowed down my choices from bracelets, to necklaces, finally settling on a really great ring -- sophisticated but hip at the same time. The jewelry is well-designed, high quality and versatile - there is something for everyone, modern, vintage, simple, ornate. I settled on a lovely ring with pink tourmaline insets which was a huge hit! Everyone at the party wanted to know where it came from - this gift really stood out in a large pile of lovely gifts. We have a lot of choices in Park Slope when it comes to jewelry - and the folks at FACETS (I have visited the 7th avenue location as well) are always friendly, accessible and attentive: a stark contrast to another well known Park Slope jewelry store where the staff is often far too busy talking to one another or lavishing attention on a high ticket buyer, to pay attention and really serve the "simple" folk. Updating my review from several years ago. Facets says they have changed their policies since 2010 to make sure customers know the price ahead of time for jewelry that uses market prices. We have come back to get our wedding rings re-polished several times over the past five years and they have been very professional and expedient about it. My husband also bought be a necklace there for our five-year anniversary. Here's my original review: Jewelry turned out nice but both times we paid for items they called us within a few days to ask for more money or say they couldn't in fact do the job in the time frame they promised (perhaps hinting we should offer to rush the job, we're unsure why they would do this). each time we held our ground and they ended up being able to finish the job as promised, but overall we felt it was a sketchy business strategy. The folks who work there are really nice and friendly, and I liked the jewelry we got, but I probably wouldn't recommend this place due to the unprofessional/sketchy way of doing business. read more

I had two diamond rings from my mother that required cleaning and one gold ring to resize. All three were passed down to me so it was of the utmost importance that they be treated with care. I suppose I am a perfect customer to review Facets. I bought an antique engagement ring there. During that process saw a vintage wedding band I really dug and had them custom replicate in my size. It came back awesome. And we ended up finding a wedding band my lady loved right out of their new stock. Along the journey Irina, Lenny and Gabi all were helpful and patient, and when I needed them to go above and beyond -- they did. I needed my engagement ring -- which I finally pulled the trigger on -- appraised before I left town. Irina made it happen. I was able to have the ring insured and go off to the tropics to propose! (I had done much shopping around the diamond district for months, before I returned to revisit another ring I had seen earlier at facets. On that visit I found THE ONE.) We needed a repair to the ring - due to some enthusiastic beer garden cheering. No problem, it was fixed in time promised. (In the interim-we had the ring independently appraised in the diamond district. The appraiser loved the antique ring and said we did well and the appraisal numbers reflected this.) I'm not really a jewelry person -- but I saw a super cool vintage ring that was waaaaaay to small for my fingers. Lenny didn't make promises of exact replication, but in the end the ring was beautiful and super close to exact replication. His expertise was obvious in the details we spoke about and finishes he recommended. The gold and diamond wedding band out of their case-is a fun, funky complement to the antique ring it lives with.
