I was super nervous because my son (4) had autism and had never had a haircut before but we gave it a chance. Everyone was nice when we walked in, socially distant, and everything was super clean. I LOST MY VIRGINITY AFTER GETTING MY CUT HERE!!! I came here a couple days ago, got cut by Joseph Moe. He did a great job and really knows his craft. He's as much of an artist and a therapist as he is a barber. I left feeling so confident I said, you know what, I'm gonna go lose my virginity. And I did it and it was great. But even better was this cut. Cause it was more than a cut though. It was a great conversation and an enlightening session. The shop is clean, they really follow safety protocols however annoying that can seem nowadays. But they do it right. I am going to preface this review by stating I have really bad luck with finding good barber shops. It seems like an every few months ritual to search online and find someone new to try after realizing the previous barber butchered my hair. I saw Faded in Yelp, and I saw the many great reviews. This place is setup well to hang out. Huge TV where all of the chairs could see it, and it was on basketball. All of the guys are very talkative. Talking about sports. Reminds me of the old school barbershops! Jo asked me what kind of haircut I wanted, and I was a little intimidated. This is the point with other barbers that I take the leap of faith. Medium fade turns into low fade or high fade, etc... He assured me that he'll do it right. You know what, he did! It's not cheap here, like the many shops in Kaneohe, but it's worth it! Excellent! We've been looking for a barber for my 17 year old son for the last 5 years. He finally told dad that he no longer wanted the buzz haircut he's been getting up until then. No one did his hair the way he liked, because he said that it looks good when you leave the shop, but the next day it's too hard to style. Until NOW! His haircut from Keoki was just for him. First off let me say i value my haircut too much, probably more than most men do. So let me tell you I've been to a ton of barbers in my life and Keoki is definitely in my top 3! That's coming from a man that's been valuing his haircut for 25 years! Keoki is attentive, patient, meticulous, and very professional. From start to finish, he makes you feel very welcome, and really gives you that aloha treatment. I will say this, I've gotten haircuts in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and a few other cities on the mainland, and I've never experienced the treatment that i have here. Decent haircuts but ridiculous "policies" I don't write reviews often but this needed to be expressed... I've had more then one instance with an unpleasant barber at Faded Hawaii. I've lived in Kaneohe for years now and really liked this barbershop when I first moved to the windward side. About a year ago I had my first bad taste... I was getting a haircut and my barber was apparently more concerned with his conversation than my haircut and messed me up... Right before a trip too. Thanks bro! However I've had other great haircuts here but I was hesitant to come back as the times before this I wasn't really feeling the atmosphere. Yesterday I figured it's time to get cleaned up, I'd give them another shot, so I scheduled an appointment online for a haircut today. Traffic from town was bad, due to flash floods and a accident. I was delayed 50 mins from town to Kaneohe. I called the shop 10 minutes before my appointment to let them know I may be up to 5 minutes late. The barber then told me it'd be a fee of $10. I explained the situation, called to give them notice and arrived 3 mins late and they still wouldn't cut my hair without paying the $10 fee. $10 for a few mins late?!?!? I get punctuality (& time is money) but at this point it's not even about money it's simply the principle. To top it off the barber that was scheduled to cut my hair was still finishing up his previous cut... I guess arguing over the fee is more important then a $40 haircut to these guys... I can't think of another business with this policy.. My doctor, masseuse, mechanic, or any other profession would never do that. Needless to say I've had one too many bad experiences and I will not be coming back. 0/10 but some tips if you do go here... 1. you have to schedule an appointment even if the place is empty at 1pm on a Tuesday, they won't take you... "gotta do it online" 2. get there really early for your appointment to avoid any late fee drama. 3. expect some great customer service from these guys! I was looking for a barber shop on the Windward side that did some decent work on razor fades and Faded Hawaii did more than just a fade, they hooked my son up with some skills on the clippers. Good thing I checked out the Yelp review online and Faded Hawaii was the only place that was rated as the best. I checked out their website and made an appointment with Mani. They're located right across the street from the Windward Mall on the 2nd Floor with street parking available. You could also park at the mall just to be safe from being towed away. As my son and I walked into door 201 at the top of the stairs on your left, Our Barber Mani greeted us and was very welcoming. Faded Hawaii has a nice clean and classy look to it with a nice sound system and big screen to jam out to while you wait. We brought in a photo online of the type of haircut my son wanted and Mani did his magic on the clippers and did more than what was expected. Mani took his time and never once rushed the haircut. We brought a photo in to go off of and he made it better than what we saw online. Straight up skills is all I could say. Stopped going to Mojo Barbershop ever since they got rid of their Mojo Mondays' $25 special. Not feelin like dropping $35 on a fade every two weeks... But, after searching on Instagram for dope Hawaii barbers I found this spot in Kaneohe. It's thirty minutes further away, but after two consistent visits to Faded Hawaii I can confirm that it's worth the drive. More of a laid back vibe for sure, they're usually bumpin some laid back hip-hop. Other times, there's Netflix playing in the back on their huge TV, or ESPN. My first visit I had Elijah, their newest barber. But don't let that fool you... 45 minutes later, my fade was tight and lines were on point. Exactly two weeks later, I've converted. Eli really takes the time to get to know what his clients want done and is an all-around chill dude. Highly recommended. A combover fade style with hard part runs $25 plus tax.
