I saw this place in my neighborhood, and stopped by yesterday Jan. 3rd, '25, being that nobody answers the phone, and no vmail msg. Hmm, strange, but come to find out the sign on door stated that will be closed in celebration of welcoming in the new year and will be returning Jan. 4th. Why no vmail msg stating, one can only wonder? None-the-less, I needed to cut my hair badly! And so I figured that having a Barber cut my hair versus my hairstylist shouldn't be to out of the norms? This is my 1st time coming here, as my regular hair stylist who has been my go to place in Kaimuki for many long years, recently had a fall and injured herself badly, and is now out on temporary medical leave until further notice, so I hope? Take note that this morning is hopping bizzy (perhaps due to holiday's), as I called 8 :30 a.m. this morn. to see if I needed to schedule an appt. and the cordial gentleman who answered mentioned that I am more than welcomed to come in whenever it is convenient. Arrived about 8 :45 a.m. and was surprised to see all of their 3 chairs were filled with men, with 2 other males waiting inside seated, as well as 2 other, (again males) and myself waited outside on their bench seating, in which 1 who brought his young son to cut his hair. However, being that men haircuts are fast and with 3 staff members to service customers, my wait time was only about 15 mins. and about 15.mins to cut. In closing, I am pleased with the service, and haircut, as I had a young Vietnamese gentleman cut my hair and he was very quiet with no conversations other than speaking to his Vietnamese female associate in his native language. They weren't booked at all, so I could come in whenever fit my schedule! I've been on island for almost five years and I've finally found a place that I love to get my haircut at. My wife and I were in the area for a massage and I saw this place was open and I was in dire need of a haircut. I stopped by and the owner was the one who actually cut my hair. She did a really good job which was nice for once. I decided to try the place out again since my vacation is over and I wanted to clean up before going back to work. This time the lady's husband was there and cut my hair, he did just as good of a job and I feel like this is the first time I've gotten two good haircuts in a row in five years. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about this company. I've gone to many barber shops that don't live up to half of the professionalism and accuracy this shop has. I usually cut my own hair (high skin fade) cause I had such bad experiences with barber's, but thankfully Thao & Dez changed that for me. Ok...I have plenty of things to say.. It's one thing for a cosmetic artist to be very skilled and talented in their work...it's another when that stylist also has a knack for teaching clients and being a source of reliable information regarding proper hair care. I left Cheryls chair not only with a fabulous haircut that flatters my face and hair type but I also know more about how to care for my mane than I ever knew before. I have done it all to my hair....it's been long it's been short, it's been all sorts of colors. Some intentional and some not lol...I thought I knew what was up but what I didn't know was that without the information Cheryl gave me yesterday - I was not able to fully gain the benefits of all of my previous hair escapades because I was not giving my hair the proper care on the home front. I was damaging my own hair with flawed brushing techniques and I was even using the incorrect brush for my hair type, she taught me how to baby step up to not washing my hair but once or twice a week to preserve the hair cuticle....I had never known correct washing needs for my type of hair... WOW...I will DEFINITELY return to Cheryl for my hair care needs and products. It's the creative types that make a true artist and Cheryl is most certainly an experienced cosmetic artist. I always go to Hair Kailua. It is really close to my house and my hair dresser Kim Graham is my absolute favorite. She is really quirky and so so sweet! She always makes sure she knows exactly what you want before she does anything because it would just kill her if you left the shop not liking what she did. She loves if you bring in a picture of exactly what you want that way it just gives her a better idea. The shop is always vibrant.
