Pros: The owner seems like a nice guy, many people rave over their services Cons: One jerk of a barber, atmosphere may not always be appropriate for all ages Details (mostly so other parents know what we experienced): My pre-teen son needed a real hairstyle instead of a clipper cut at home. Faded Up had a lot of great reviews so we went for a walk-in haircut. He ended up in "Stiles" chair. We brought three photos and discussed likes/dislikes about each. We clearly explained my son wanted an easy style and nothing too trendy. As the haircut progressed, Stiles kept combing it over with a hard part and we had to point out several times that was not what my son wanted. It was evident Stiles was angry and frustrated by the end, and he loudly advised me from across the shop that next time we should know what we want before we come in. I guess photos are not enough? In the end the haircut was just ok. I had to even up the sides when we got home, as well as clean up a spot that was nicked and continued to bleed into the evening. Neither of my sons liked the heavy R&B channel playing on the TV, and I was surprised by a couple videos featuring dancers in strip clubs grinding their barely-dressed pelvises in men's faces. I'm a fairly open and progressive parent, but I didn't feel the "entertainment" was appropriate for a business that is said to be a good place to take children years younger than mine. The end result? My sons asked me to brush up on my haircutting skills because they don't want to go to a barber shop again. I understand how this place could appeal to some though, and I hope they continue to be successful. read more

Faded Up - ouch! - Barbers Near Me - Forest Grove, Oregon

The reason these guys get one star is because of the toxic macho attitude that overruns this business. They say they work with younger kids, boys specifically, yet the videos on their TV with mostly naked women, Rap videos full of women being objectified and general decor around this place that seems to encourage a "macho men only" feel, is not a place for younger men or boys. The language was extreme as well, being used by the stylist, and before I get some, "Oh you're a Karen" or, "Oh you're a religious nut" gaslighting or deflection, I am neither. Nothing wrong with being a progressive-minded person who feels general decent behavior is not a bad thing and good role modeling for younger people is nice. These guys are man-children running a shop that has no class. read more

After finding time to write my experience, Horrible experience! Few weeks ago, I believe it was the store owner who cut my hair, asking for a fade. Told him it was too high and if he could fade it out some more, he became disrespectful and dismissive. Ended up leaving without it fixed. Owner isn't professional or the nicest. Runs his barbershop the way he treats customers. Expensive haircut and by the looks of the his fridge full of beer and bottles of liquor, probably drinks between cuts. Maybe the reason he is rude. I needed to get my fade cleaned up before vacation, so I went to a barber shop in Hillsboro where the barber absolutely butchered it. She cut it so short and so high, I didn't know what to do but I knew I had to try and do something. I googled other barber shops in the area and settled on Faded Up in Forest Grove. I went in to Faded Up and showed my haircut to Jesse and asked for help to rescue it before i head to Mexico. Even though he was in the process of leaving for the day, he agreed to stay longer and help me. He took his time and transformed what was a horrible cut into a very good fade, all with very little hair left to work with. Seriously, thank you Jesse! Both Jesus and David have exceptional razor skills. Their expertise is what made me comfortable finally making the jump to a buzz cut. In particular, David's fades or Jesus' precise facial hair management keep an otherwise extremely simple haircut from looking boring. TL:DR Don't go to Greg if you value your waves. I have been getting the exact same haircut for 7 years and have said the same thing every time. "Medium fade 2 on the top with the grain". Drove 30 minutes to see this place as it was recommended to me. I should've known the absolute trauma my waves were about to go through when I heard boss music as I sat down in Greg's chair. Greg did not even apply the white cloth to my neck. this was the second red flag, and the last one where I felt the cold chill of my waves last breath.... Greg had to re ask me if I truly meant to say a 2 on the top. My waves screamed in agony as Greg slid his unholy clippers with the grain across the top of my head. defeated I could only watch in horror as my entire ocean was demolished in mere seconds. years of hard work. gone. Greg is the final boss of a video game that drops common loot because he was supposed to be the first. Greg is the type of dude who you ask to cut a sandwich, and he cuts it horizontally, Greg should have a restraining order keeping him 50 Feet away from any barber shop. Greg is the type of dude who puts on his left turn signal and goes right. Greg is the type of dude to put on sock shoe sock shoe. Greg is the type of dude to play with inverted controls. Greg is the type of dude to sell his Xbox because his controller died. Greg did not even offer an apology for having me look like I'm fresh out of boot camp for the next month. He simply stated in a lighthearted tone "haha its a learning experience for both of us" Greg. you couldn't be more correct. the next time I see a Greg cutting hair I am going to put on a Kevlar helmet until his chair is taken. I got my hair cut by two barbers there for almost a year. Airways great haircuts and experiences. Other than the colourful language ( which didn't bother me but might offend some), I had the owner cut my hair. Maybe he was just having a bad day, but I've never experienced the level of hostility and rudeness. For that reason alone I can't support this business anymore. read more

I don't usually put reviews up unless something compels me to, and the haircut I received here has to be talked about. When you travel for a living it's hard to take care yourself when you get home in the short amount of time you have. And sometimes it requires you taking a leap of faith and somebody in a strange city. I found David, and his barbershop on Yelp looking for someone that could do a good fade here in the area. For those of you that believe haircutting is a craft, David is a master. Perfect clean lines, and attention to detail. This is one of the best haircut I've ever had.
