Each performer performs twice (3 songs each time) and then there's a finale where each sings once. There are 2 musicians as well. Most people left after the first rounds of this performers and we were one of 2 tables that stayed until the very end. Fado there's a lot of passion in the singing and although I cannot understand the language as well, you could see the emotion in their singing. The sequence seemed to go from a sadder song to the last song being the most upbeat. The interior is intimate, the candlelit tables set the vibe and the restaurant is a little bit hidden close to the cathedral. Per the reservation you have to spend 45 euros per person and they say card is not available but it was! Service was fine and the menu is pretty traditional. We got the octopus starter, the steak with fries, and sea bass. Everything tasted fine and portions were larger, but you're really here for the show. We asked to take home some food which they did not have take out boxes but figured it out use tin foil. A one time experience for me but glad I got to experience this traditional cultural performance!

We came on a Tuesday evening around 8:30. The singers start singing around 9 pm. On the day we came, they started a bit later around 9:10. Each singer sings a couple songs, there's a long break for folks to chat and the servers to serve food and take orders, and then the next singer starts after 30-40 minutes. We were there for 3 singers total, 2 women and a guy. The ambiance is nice, as it's located downstairs in what feels like a very historical building with walls of stone blocks. I had the lamb chops (€28), and my friend had the vegetable bras (€20). My lamb chops were pretty overcooked and dry. I wasn't a huge fan. My friend didn't like his vegetable dish either and found it super bland. The best thing we had here was the dessert, which was the white chocolate panna cotta for €8. Service is slow as this is a place where you leisurely enjoy dinner with the live music.

They said that it was a traditional drink from Madeira that consists of lemon, orange, honey, and rum. The grilled octopus was cut in half, accompanied by some sliced vegetables and potatoes, and placed on top of a layer of olive oil. The octopus was tender in the center and cut away easily. The linguine with shrimp was very creamy. The linguine noodles were cooked past al dente. They were soft, just the way I like. I don't know what's in the sauce, but the creaminess and the flavors were quite addicting. I highly recommend this dish.

I told them I was in Porto mainly to try Port wines, and didn't have much familiarity with other, non-fortified Portuguese wines, and would love an intro flight, but no roses. Got a mini-lesson in the wine regions of Portugal, along with a wonderful green wine, a great Duoro valley red, and a truly fantastic red from Alentejo, a wine region I had not previously heard of, but immediately went on my radar the rest of the trip. (They also sell bottles; I bought a bottle.) Note, they said they only guarantee they'll do flights (as opposed to full-priced full glass pours) after 4 pm, but if they aren't busy for the food lunch rush, they'll do them earlier in the day (on a rainy Thursday in January they were more than happy to.) Actually liked the place so much, I came back the next afternoon and had another glass of a different Alentejo red - they only had one open for tasting in the price range that fit the "intro"-priced wine flight, so I spent... I believe 11 euros on a glass of a fancier bottle they recommended. It was also quite good, though I think I actually preferred the first one. Also had one glass of a very reasonably priced tawny Port while I was there - they had several, but obviously, I was already well into my plan to taste Port directly from all of the nearby tasting rooms across the bridge, so I just picked one here. Only miss was that they served me the aged white ports, which are chilled, a few minutes before the desert things that I was pairing them with.
