I will say that I've always been a fan of mobile food trucks as the majority of ones I've been to over the years have been tacos. However, I had the opportunity trying out one of the more well-known butcher shops to serve San Joaquin County. This is none other than "Fagundes Meats & Catering" which has been a staple in Manteca for decades. Their actual brick-and-mortar location is off of N. Main St/E. Louise Ave in the heart of Manteca while their food truck ventures out to various locations for a variety of community events. In this case, I saw them serving hungry patrons at the Manteca Watermelon Street Fair that took place during the weekend of 6/6/26-6/7/26. To those that know this business already is that they are famous for their tri-tip. In addition to that, they also have other amazing protein options including rib-eye, brisket, pulled pork, Italian sausage, linguica, chicken, and the order I went with, their pork belly. I ended up going with their "Pork Belly Kabobs" and went for the combo deal which included a side (I went with their macaroni salad) and a drink (I opted for a Diet Pepsi). Total price for everything was $17 (which included tax + tip); not bad especially at a public outdoor event. I will say that the pork belly was quite delicious; a little bit on the salty side but nonetheless still a fairly decent portion in each and every bite. I paired it up with their homemade BBQ sauce which had a sweet yet tangy flavor. The macaroni salad was just average for me as it had too much of a vinegar taste while lacking a whole lot of flavor. Overall, I enjoyed this meal as it held me through the majority of the afternoon. I am definitely curious to try their other meats if I end up visiting their actual butcher shop. Overall, the service was excellent considering I was at a busy outdoor event. The line moved quickly while the prices were quite reasonable, even these days where meat prices have become quite outrageous. With that said and done, I am giving the mobile food truck portion of "Fagundes Meats & Catering" an above average four stars. Hopefully I can make a future visit to their butcher shop in the coming months so stay tuned! read more

The tritip sandwich comes nicely loaded with meat and is a decent bite. I'd be curious to try a tritip order on its own to see if it stands out more. Mac and cheese wasn't at all my cup of tea- too bland for my liking. I've also never had potato salad with black olives in it... That is a "no thank you" for me as well. I'll be back around to try more menu items but for now, I'd say around a 3.5. read more

To start off, they are a butcher shop who happens to also serve sandwiches, bbq and an assortment of sides. They have a bunch of other products such as frozen pies, breads and bbq rubs. As for the meats they have pretty much all of the basics. Different cuts of steaks, tritip, cuts of chicken and more. If marinated or seasoned meats are the thing for you, they have some of those too. Anyways, I've come here from time to time over the years. I've ordered their sandwiches, beef ribs, pork ribs and tritip. While nothing was especially great everything was solid. As of more recent times, I've been coming here for meat to smoke/grill as well as their sides. I enjoy their chili beans and their loaded baked potatoes meanwhile my mom likes their potato salad. As for the meat, the steaks have been OK but what really stands out for me are the 3 bone short rib plate. Every time I throw them in my smoker they come out fantastic. They always come out so tender, moist and flavorful. On to some general stuff. As for service, I've never had any real issues here like some people in other reviews. Someone who kind of rubbed me the wrong way but nothing too crazy. In regard to ambiance, I mean what can you say about a butcher shop aside from it appearing fairly clean. They've got some tables inside as well if you choose to eat there. On to pricing, I don't remember off the top of my head the prices from when I first started coming but obviously they've gone up. As for people complaining about the price increases, literally almost everything everywhere has gone up in price due to the economy and inflation. Absolutely the worst service we've ever received. The owners son helped us out at the end of their day. We did come in 10 mins before they were closing, we thought we could still grab some tri tip sandwiches. We walked in and the son said with a sigh and attitude, Hi How can we help you? We ask for the sandwiches to which he sighs again and says Sure! Sarcastically. He checks the cooler then slams that shut. Then the other employee asks what we wanted and he says loud enough for us to hear, just two sandwiches! And the other one responds "I just put that away." Then he says that's usually how it goes!! He comes back out and they're making little comments to each other. We wait maybe 5 minutes and it's ready which is great. Until the other kid dropped the paper bag on the counter and says here you go! With a sarcastic voice and smile. I never want to be a Karen but this was some of the worst customer service I have ever received. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone especially for just two half way decent tri tip sandwich for $38. BHT or BHA is an antioxidant that can actually cause health problems for a person but it's not something injected in the liver animal it's something you find on brands like Farmer John's for example or the Green Manteca one I believe. We already had our menu set so we made a mental Note to make sure we stop here next time and today was our next time. I ordered food to go and when I got home I saw this. The ribs were good. Cooked well and tender. But the brisket was so dry and chewy it was inedible. For a meat market you would think they would know to cut the meat against the grain so it's not so tough but as you can see in the picture that didn't happen. I ended up chopping it up and gave it to my dog. He didn't seem interested either and my dog eats everything! That's gotta say something. read more

Came here after my adult son recommended the place to me. He said to try the Tri tip sandwich. They are practicing strict covid guidelines and I appreciate that. They have Germx sanitizer in several places for customers to utilize. I'm happy to see they using the good stuff and a brand I trust not some off the wall sanitizer to save them money. They only allow four people in the store at a time and ask you to kindly wait outside if you somehow manage to miss the signage on the door. (I heard them ask someone if they could kindly wait outside for a few minutes until they see someone leave because they currently have 4 customers inside and that's the max to keep everyone safe). So I ordered Tri tip Combe which came with a small fountain drink and choice of side. I choose the red potato salad. Red potatoes sakes was amazing! Lots of bacon in it! Never had potato salad with bacon but it was very yummy and I highly recommend you try it too! You can't go through life without this deliciousness! Seriously! The Tri tip sandwich did not skimp on the meet. The meat was very bland. I was surprised as they sell their own seasoning and bbq sauce in the store. The Tri tip comes with house dressing which is similar to aioli sauce. Excellent sauce but for the amount of meat on the sandwich I needed more sauce. To be fair I'm a saucy girl though, I like heavy sauce with extra sauce on the side to dip in too. Next time I'll ask for some on the side and see if the oblige. Not much parking at all so you may need to park on street or across the street. Overall value :10. Bought some marinaded chicken breast to have it grilled on there charcoal grill. I showed up at 8:25am and asked if they could grill my chicken breast that I bought from them and they asked what time? I said can you get it done by 10am? The lady said yes we should have the grill running up by then. I showed up to the outside pickup service and rang the bell and seen the grill wasn't even running at all. I asked her im here to pickup my order but I don't know if you turned the grill on or no and she went to the back and gave me my chicken. I went home and opened it up and to realize that it was definitely not cooked on a grill and was definitely cooked in the oven. So glad we came back here. The last visit was clearly an anomaly. We ordered two Linguiça sandwiches and two sides of beans. The sandwiches were superb. Beautiful fresh rolls with lovely hot Linguiça, lettuce, tomato and onion. So good! The beans were among the very best beans we've ever eaten. Not strictly Portuguese beans but they were delicious, made with chunks of beef and slices of Linguiça And it seems like a hint of cinnamon. I don't know what they did but it's a great recipe. We also picked up a tri tip and a rack of baby back ribs for dinner. We had this with my folks for dinner and I can report that the tri tip and ribs, despite being reheated in the oven, we cooked expertly and perfectly seasoned (I highly recommend their seasoning blend that they sell in the store). We go here for meat and for Lockford Sausages to avoid the long line and wait at Lockford. Their Fagundes seasoning is great on everything and they BBQ up front. I came in here a few days before Thanksgiving and while it may look like they weren't super stocked, I was able to buy everything I needed i.e. tri-tip, ribeye's, and baby back ribs. The service is friendly and the meat are really nice cuts. I got a few Dakota links from Lockerford that they now sale. They also sell marinated meats, sauces/marinades, tri-tip sandwiches. Highly recommend!!! We usually pick up their Spicy Portuguese sausages which are great on the grill...... Their pull pork/tri tip sandwiches are hands down the best! I buy meat at the store all the time so I thought I would try their food truck in Lathrop a very big mistake. I got the two meat plate ribs and tritip, the ribs were very tough and hard to chew and the tritip was dry snd looked as if it had been sitting out all day. No sauce was served with it the potato salad was terrible tasted as if they poured pickle juice in it. I paid $19 for the worst meal I have ever had. Definitely will not eat there again. read more

We frequently order ribs and tri-tip from Fagundes and are always pleased with what we get. I ordered catering for the first time for a work event a few months back and forgot to submit a review. I was extremely pleased with all of the food that we ordered. We went with catering for a group of 140 everything was done on time, we definitely feel like we got our moneys worth as far as quality and quantity, and everyone raved about the taste. Too expensive, went to Dave's meat service and got the same beef ribs much cheaper. I got two racks or short plate ribs 8lbs for $92. Which included a forth waste bone on both racks. Paid $57 at Dave's meat service for 8lbs without the forth bone I think they were irritated with me when I asked if they could vac seal the ribs for my Sous vide. Both seals didn't hold and it's because they sealed over the spice... I'm sure this was on purpose because anyone that has used a vac seal knows to roll the bag where it gets sealed.
