This is a wonderful used bookstore. It is a little crowded with piles of books making it difficult to get up and down the aisles. However, I managed to find a few gems. I love the smell and the ambience of Fahrenheit's. I love the commitment to keeping these used bookstores open and staffed. The staff is friendly and helpful. Prices were reasonable. I bought a $40 dollar biography for twelve dollars. Parking is on the street. read more

It's Gettin Hot in Herre!! Fahrenheit's is a petite, well-stocked, secondhand bookstore on 210 South Broadway. Heterogeneous in constitution, this bookshop boasts an array of fictional and nonfictional works, including hard-to-find leather-bound additions and vintage paperbacks. Shopping at Fahrenheit's is always a pleasure. The store is intimate and full of books of all kinds for the savvy reader. I generally gravitate toward the leather-bound additions, which range from twenty to forty dollars a piece. These works are typically in immaculate condition, which is not always the case in other shops. You'll definitely get value for your buck here. Metered parking can be found on the street. Weekend parking is scarce, but not impossible with patience. There is not a public restroom inside, however there are options nearby. This is a VERY cool Used and Collectible Book Shop! First, the First Editions, and signed books. Like, Wow, Man!! Lord of the Rings, Wizard of Oz, all the usual suspects like that (And the prices weren't crazy! $800 for the full LOTR Trilogy is quite reasonable.) But you'll also find some favorite authors' novels (Anne Rice's Interview With the Vampire!) and even some Childrens' Books. So. Plan to spend some time drooling over that glass case. But THEN... Wander back. Because they've got some MAD COOL Science Fiction paperbacks. A HUGE collection of them, and a total throwback to your childhood! These (many of them) are also "First Printings" of Paperbacks, and they've got that original cover art that you just don't see on books anymore. It's like a throwback to my Elementary School Library, when reading was actually PROMOTED and book covers made you EXCITED to get lost within the world in those pages. Hubby picked up some really cool books based on the 1960s TV Series, The Prisoner (Check out his photos here!) Even those prices were very in-line with what they should be, and the books were in fabulous condition. We wandered for at least half an hour, and probably could have stayed more, if we'd had the time. This is one used bookstore that I'm certain we'll be frequent visitors at. read more

This was our last stop on the Broadway book tour. I love its close proximity to other shops. Plus while being a smallish shop it is one of the most organized and well kept. Fahrenheit is the place to go if you are looking for vintage paperbacks (I could read the covers of these all the day long!) Favorite bookstore on Broadway! Shelves are packed with unique finds including a fantastic philosophy section. It's hard to find a better selection of philosophy books in a used bookstore where you can still browse and find gems and books you didn't know you needed. Pardon the pun, but Fahrenheit's Books is HOT. Further south on Broadway than they were a few months ago, the new location is a tremendous improvement from their previous one! While the space is smaller, the organization, lighting and overall feeling of the place is greatly improved. The owner (I'm assuming) was helpful and friendly if not a little anxious. While browsing, we got to chatting and seems like there might be some concern about people finding their new crib. The 30-45 minutes or so I was there - I was the only customer. With the great selection available, this was quite surprising! I've never seen so many excellent condition graphic novels for sale used before! The sci-fi section made me drool. The special bookcase featuring only 1st editions made my breath catch in my throat. The mystery section was a bit lacking, but there are entire bookstores that specialize in mysteries to help me scratch that itch. Well organized, competitively priced and conveniently located - this is an great place to find used books in great condition. If you haven't stopped by the new location, I suggest it. As the name implies, the appropriately titled "Farenheit's Books" contains some of the most beholden works ever to be published. It is literally a treasure trove of rare old printings and even rarer first editions of some of the most classic literary works. Here you will find FIRST editions of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit hardcover first editions (see photo), and yes, even Ray Bradbury's "Farenheit 451," but at collector's prices that will set your wallet on fire. They do have probably THE BEST Science Fiction section I have ever found ANYWHERE! We're talking vintage editions of classic pulp Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror like Amazing Stories and Weird Science. I found some early editions of Edgar Rice Burroughs at VERY reasonable prices but even I had to contain myself from going on a book buying binge. Farenheit's Books is a treasure trove of lost literary classics. If you ever find yourself surviving an atomic war ala Burgess Meredith in The Twilight Zone, THIS is the place you'll want to come to find old books to read. A lifetime's worth of gems are preserved here. Very clean and organized too. Not only the better of the two used bookstores on the block, but one of the best used bookstores around PERIOD. read more

At first, I really liked the vibe in this used bookstore. The rounded brick arches housing the books are romantic and I particularly liked the large index cards stuck into the bookshelves to mark the sections -- Hinduism, Art, Music, Politics. And then I looked at the grey, dingy carpet, the fluorescent lighting, and the loud AC/Heating unit. Oh and one of the socially awkward border-line emo employees bumped me three times (I swear). In fact, after the third time I was wondering if he was trying to flirt with me? Nothing is well marked but that can be fun. The prices are on the inside cover in pencil (yay) and it'd be a great place to kill 45 minutes. Also, they have a small vinyl section that's pricey but has some rather decent stuff. read more

To be quite honest I was expecting so much more and I got less than I anticipated. There are some ok things about this store but over all I can't really say much that's great. Maybe I'm being picky but whatever. The clutter of all the books was too much for me to handle. I love books and I can't get enough of them. But the piles upon piles of books on the floor and on the shelves looks worse than my bedroom. It's just not attractive. Customer service is seriously lacking. I'm sorry - did I interrupt your reading because I had a question about where to find something? Oh, I'm sorry is ringing up my books an inconvenience for you? How about instead of acting like we're a bother you clean up the store a little bit? Not a good experience. There are some interesting selections at this store. I think if you are in the market for something unique this would be a great place to start. It all depends on what you are looking for. Plan ahead and have a backup plan just in case. read more

The used bookstore has become (like the indie record store) a bit of a relic from years past, although honestly there's not much love lost for me considering the majority of them were little more than homes for discarded Harlequin romances and other disposable fiction paperbacks. Luckily, a few booksellers have managed to survive the carnage in the book industry, and the very existence of this store is a testimonial to the fact that (hopefully!) those booksellers with something "special" will continue to survive. Despite all of the convenience that Amazon offers, there's just something about browsing the shelves in a store like this that will never compare to anything online. If you love books, it would almost be impossible to leave this place without something you didn't even know existed, but you ended up "needing". The selection is absolutely superb, with particular attention to quality works on history, theology, and philosophy. (I haven't ever seen the full 3-volume set of Prescott's "The Conquest and Mexico and Peru" before, and was drooling over it -- although the $250 price tag had me leaving without it.) Overall, this is a wonderful little spot and I'm glad to see that it has survived up into the year 2015. The skyrocketing rent on South Broadway has unfortunately chased a lot of these small businesses away but luckily Fahrenheit's was able to relocate just a few blocks down from its older home. read more

As far as used bookstores in Denver go, this is one of the best (though not the biggest). I especially love how the books are actually ORGANIZED for the most part, unlike many stores which just throw things onto shelves "fiction" or "non-fiction". Hands down one of the best sources for pagan eclectica, out of print classics of the genre, and various Wicca and alt-religion books. You won't pay 50 cents for such books here, but still - the prices are reasonable. I can spend an entire afternoon here...shuffling through the stacks. About as non-pretentious as they come. Just a GREAT used book store, decently organized and with an amazing selection - especially if you are looking for something 'hard to find'. read more

Fahrenheit is probably my favorite used bookstore in the Denver-metro area. My reading tastes are a bit esoteric and I always walk out with something. Regardless, it's fun to wander through sections I would usually ignore just to see what there is to be seen. Staff is friendly and generally just let you browse without asking too many questions. I used to work next to this awesome bookstore and I could come ask the amazing owners to pick out a couple books they thought I would like based on what I had bought there before. Then I could come back in about a half an hour and there would be a great little stack waiting for me. Who else does this? The owners really know everything there is to know about books and can usually find what you are looking for in their extensive collection. This is a ridiculously good bookstore. Be sure to take a look at the modern first editions shelf--if an author mattered in the 20th century, you're likely to find a first edition of at least some of their works (where else will you find TWO first American edition Bulgakovs?). But you'll often find lovely first or early editions in the normal stacks, too. Not a big store, but a superb and discriminating selection, which is an all too rare quality in a bookstore. Farenheit's books has a great selection of vintage books. If you are just browsing its fabulous. However, Their labeling system needs serious work which makes it hard to find specific books you are looking for. They have a great history and travel section and a rather large selection of religion and philosophy section. They also have records and comic books. My only complaint is that their women's studies section is severely lacking. Overall, this place is pretty great. I'll be coming back for sure. read more

This is exactly what you want from a used bookstore. It's unassuming, cozy, and well-stocked with interesting reads; I always manage to find something I can't live without. If you're into old books, first editions, etc., then some of the books behind the glass are pretty darn spectacular. Any place that has the first printing of Ellison's Invisible Man is going to make my short list. Great little used bookstore on South Broadway. I was super impressed with the collection of first edition sci-fi novels, and especially the old 1930s-40s pulp collection. Quite rare! If I had a bunch of money to burn, I would totally clean them out of those! I most thoroughly examined the sci-fi, and was happy to see that they also carry many interesting contemporary authors, some that even a geek like me hadn't heard of. The selection is fairly small, but of extremely high quality. read more

Superb selection of books for the moderate reader to the collector. Scored 1st Edition and a couple of autographed copies for two of my favorite authors at very reasonable prices.
