I've thought long and hard about what this review should be for - it's my 400th after all. And there was a tough moment when I couldn't decide between Kilgore and Taki Sushi. Then I decided I may be able to live without sushi, but I could never live without books. Kilgore for the win! This place is like magic. It's like what I would want the bookstore I owned to be like. It's like every bibliophiles wet dream, haphazardly categorized into some semblance of neatness so that the owners/workers can find exactly what they are looking for if you ask. Computerized inventory? Only if you count the man's brain. And for all of that I simply adore it. You can find seriously high-quality books here. Although you may never find just the book you are looking for because the space is rather small. Not that I'm complaining - I think it's cozy. As everyone says the prices are reasonable. But, I think my favorite part is I never feel judged no matter what book I'm looking for or even if I can't pronounce the author's name or title of the book. All of that reading in my head makes me say word out loud in a funny way sometimes. So what? I know you've got to have a book in mind that you're itching to read. May I suggest you swing by Kilgore's and see if they have a copy? Even if they don't have that one I'll bet you can find something that makes the stop worthwhile.

I am SO full of shame right now. I lived in Denver for nearly 4 years and visited the 'city' frequently for about 10 years before that. I never ever walked into this place (even when I lived a block away). Please forgive me for the trespasses against you. But I have an excuse!!! I had given up on used book stores. See some people have great eyes and they don't get overwhelmed by lots of crap piled up. They can find the needle in the haystack, the diamond in the rough, the other adage and the next. But I can't keep my peepers from crossing and giving up. Kilgore! You're like the pair of xray specs (RIP Poly) I always needed. The place is small but it is surprisingly well organized. The alphabetization actually exists and is maintained! Halleloo! The sections are really well broken-up and the authors are all the ones that you should've read in your hipster years but never got to because of either a) your drinking habit or b) your nonfiction studiousness or c) your 24-7 search for the newest underground band. This is to say this place houses a kind of common language - books that if you run into nifty people on the street you can talk about - or strike up conversation with that bookish geek chic creature who has you all crushed up inside. You can theorize on the role of the imaginary child in "Whose Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" finally putting to good use your GRE vocabulary while gazing deep inside their eyes. Absurdist plays. Artsy graphic novels. Independent zines. New titles and classics. Beat poets. The selection is immaculately curated. Realize this is more of a specialty bookstore than one that tries to cover all the bases. The staff is amazing with suggestions and they're even open to suggestions themselves! Why not five stars? Well. The books can be a little pricey. Usually they're about half of MSRP, which means most run you $7.50. I know they need to stay in business and I know you pay for the genius of their contents. But it still hurts my skinny, skinny wallet. Please don't be an arse like I was. Visit. Support them. Get smart.

My 12-year-old son has recently gotten into Dungeons & Dragons, and for his birthday we reserved a table here knowing that Enchanted Grounds welcomes tabletop RPGs. I'll admit, I was a little hesitant about leaving my son and four of his friends somewhere new on their own for nearly four hours. Any concerns disappeared almost immediately. One staff member in particular, Paul, went above and beyond. The boys would not stop saying, "Paul is the GOAT." He checked in on them throughout their entire time there, helped them out whenever they needed it, and genuinely made them feel welcome. More importantly, he made me feel completely at ease as a parent. It's rare to find a business that not only creates a fun, inclusive space for kids but also earns the trust of parents so effortlessly. Enchanted Grounds Highlands Ranch has my respect and admiration. Thank you for giving my son one of the best birthday experiences he's ever had. We'll definitely be back.

Just wanted a place to work on my computer, and ultimately that's what I got. Enchanted Grounds is a cafe and game emporium. Like for real, they have such a huge selection of games. If you are into that, I truly love that for you! As far as the cafe is concerned, the best part was not paying Denver coffee prices! Only a few bucks for an iced coffee, god bless America. The staff weren't all that friendly or interested in talking to customers. It definitely gives off humble, rainy day coffeehouse vibes and that's not a bad thing. Bright, tacky colored walls, one guy was sleeping in one of the booths, a giant group of 80+ year olds at the big community table, and gamers galore on a Wednesday afternoon. It's low key, wifi was fine, coffee was fine. Nothing stood out for me personally. Considering it's close to an hour away odds of me coming back aren't high. I wish them the best!

Owner is super friendly and helpful. It's two floors of comics and collectibles, and we spent a good hour there exploring (great selection)! The basement is horror-themed and I would NOT wanna be trapped down there at night with the lights down low or off....very creepy! Lots of creative horrific decor from decaying skeletal figures to crazy clowns (the worst) to sofa chairs you'd think twice about sitting on. Every square inch is carefully thought out. Dollar comics and used graphic novels downstairs, found a couple Star Wars ones for $2-3 that we picked up for a friend's 10-year-old. Also available in the basement were whole packets of limited series sold together for convenience. These guys are here for the customer! Some clothing, pins, boots, Tshirts, lots of collectible toys! Be sure to visit Wolf the turtle in his terrarium next to the front desk. Highly recommend

The owner herself, Miss Risa was taking care of creating this unique culinary experience. The first service we chose a peach oolong. This was served with a green salad and broccoli quiche. Wonderful! I cannot tell you what the salad was dressed with, but the flavors!!!! The quiche was absolutely perfect from crust to cheesy top. Second service was Yellow submarine. This refreshing chamomile was infused with dried pineapple and mango. The first cup was good, but the second was delightful. The fruit had time to meld with the chamomile and created an epic infusion. The third service was a Moroccan mint. This was just as wonderful as you would expect. We were served an open face curry egg salad and a homemade fermented cucumber on a seasoned cream cheese. The flavors were wonderful. The sweet serving was a blueberry scone with Lemmon curd, apple cake and macrons. Service was top notch, the owner came over to chat with us. We even had a chance to spend time with one of the guides from the local Black History Museum. This was a delightful end to our amazing day! Thank you for the hospitality

I made a reservation several weeks in advance for high tea for myself and five girlfriends because…read morewe were excited to try something new together. The concept sounded perfect: a traditional three-tiered tray of finger sandwiches and sweets, a plated item like quiche, and bottomless tea over a three-hour reservation. To start with the positives, the staff were kind and polite, and the owner was accommodating when our group size increased closer to the date. The tea was good, and I appreciated that the teapots were kept warm with tea lights. The space itself is charming, and we genuinely enjoyed having time to sit and catch up. The food was delicious, they are amazing cooks. The biggest issue was the timing of the food. In every afternoon tea I have attended, the three-tiered tray is brought out shortly after being seated so guests can graze while enjoying tea. A plated item may follow later, but there is always something to snack on early in the experience. Here, we went almost two full hours without any food at all. The quiches arrived around the two-hour mark, and the three-tiered tray, which is the centerpiece of afternoon tea, did not arrive until about fifteen minutes before our three-hour reservation ended. No one was rushing us out, and we did enjoy being together, but waiting an hour and a half to two hours for any food simply is not reasonable. We were genuinely hungry for the first half of the visit and then suddenly had a large amount of food placed in front of us near the end. Instead of grazing leisurely, we were left trying to eat everything in a short window of time. With a reservation made weeks in advance and only one other small table present, it was surprising that nothing was delivered within the first hour. Even reversing the order and bringing out the tiered tray first would have completely changed the experience. We also received only one three-tiered tray for six people at a price comparable to other Denver tea houses where each guest receives their own. When we asked for boxes to take the remaining items home, we were told they only had paper sleeves. Afternoon tea items are delicate by design, and paper slips are not suitable for transporting layered finger foods without crushing them. Given that the tray was delivered minutes before the reservation ended, proper takeaway containers should have been available. Tea service was steady for much of the visit, but toward the end all three teapots sat empty for about ten to fifteen minutes, and I had to go upstairs to request a refill. This was secondary to the food timing, but it added to the overall sense that pacing and oversight were lacking. I truly wanted this to be a special afternoon, and I appreciate the kindness of the staff and the availability of vegan options. However, afternoon tea should feel thoughtfully paced, with food arriving early enough for guests to graze comfortably. Waiting nearly two hours for any food and then receiving the full tiered tray minutes before the reservation ended does not align with what high tea is meant to be.
