San-E-Lee has never failed me! Love their Curry, pad Thai, rice pots! Everything is great!

We found this place by accident. Loved the food! I've been to a lot of Thai restaurants. They serve great Thai food here. The papaya salad perfectly was sour and sweet plus all the spices balanced all the flavors. Their spicy eggplant was cooked thoroughly well. The flavors were authentic! The restaurant's decor could use some help but it's really the food that matters in the end. I highly recommend this place to those who love to eat! read more

Good Thai food!!!! I ordered the yellow curry and bag of gold for starters. The bag of gold was great and the light sauce really added to the overall flavor. I asked for spice level 8/10 for my curry and it was a good spicy to curry taste. Great Thai ice tea as well. read more

I love this restaurant and try to visit at least twice a month! It is one of my favorite places to eat because the food is consistently delicious and the staff are friendly. I recommend the yellow curry with chicken- It's always amazing! But the pad thai and orange/sesame chicken are yummy also. The place is rarely full, so seating is fast and the staff, though sometimes shy, are attentive and courteous. The lunch specials are their best deals! You can get a delicious lunch for less than $10. Highly recommended. read more

Great food, reasonable prices! I've had tom yum/tom ka soups, drunken noodles, pad see ewe, panang curry, larb salad, fried fish, pineapple fried rice as well as various appetizers. I haven't been disappointed yet! We love that we have such a great Thai restaurant in Santee. The restaurant is in a more deserted strip mall so you always wonder if there's anyone inside. Rest assured, there are and though it could benefit from a makeover, I find dining there nice and quaint. read more

We come here often and typically order Pad Thai, Panang Curry and Sab-E-Lee Sausage. All three are excellent choices, Panang being our favorite. The staff is very friendly, the restaurant is clean, the portions are generous and the food arrives quickly. I've been to a lot of Thai restaurants throughout San Diego and would say Sab-E-Lee is on my top 3. read more

The food was ok, compared to other Thai restaurants I have been to the portions are smaller. During dinner they didn't check on us after taking our order and the restaurant wasn't busy at all. After we ordered we got our food super quick which was nice. Taste wise I had better food. We ordered the papaya salad which I love but was disappointed because it looked old and didn't have much flavor and was super soggy. After I got up to ask for the check because they hadn't checked on us (20 min) we paid and I told the server that we didn't like the papaya salad and didn't really eat it because it looked and tasted old and she just stared at me and said "ok" and left. I wasn't looking for a discount or anything I just wanted to let her know the salad tasted old but she didn't care or say anything like ok I will let the chef know or anything. We have been going here for the past 7+ years and tonight we were really disappointed with their service. We sat for over 25 minutes while the waitress & other employees just stood around chit chatting so of course we just walked out since clearly no one wanted to take our order. Very happy there were able to accommodate a party of 16 in such late notice! This is definitely a plus when you're limited to Asian dining in Santee area! I frequent the other locations quite a bit since I live closer to the one in PQ but this spot isn't much different in taste and quality, however, their spice scale I feel is more accommodating to the area. When I ask for a mild at the other locations, I still get a decent kick, and here, barely a hint of spicy, but the flavor was defiantly there. We ordered the chicken satay, pineapple friend rice, basil fried rice, chicken curry, larb beef, papaya salad, spicy eggplant with tofu, drunken noodles and bag of gold. All the food exceeded expectations and that's hard with a family full of self proclaimed cooks and foodies.. when in the area and I'm looking to pick up some Thai food, I will be back! read more

Yummy Thai food. Can't go wrong. The prices are great. It's family owned and you can tell their food is made with love. The food can run spicy so you'll be safe to say not too spicy for your meals. I can handle a lot of spice but medium was pretty spicy. We had the chicken pad Thai and yellow curry. Both were so good and pretty large portions for a good price. Sab-E-Lee is hands down my favorite Thai spot around east county! I've tried out a few others but Sab-e-lee has amazing prices and amazing portions! I always order the drunken noodles with shrimp. I'd love to try out other dishes but I can't steer away from this.. it's THAT GOOD! A few days ago we also tried the crab rangoons. They were pretty good but there wasn't much filling in them. Was craving Thai food, but nothing up in Alpine. Decided to look at reviews for restaurants in El Cajon and Santee. Although this was a bit farther to drive, decided to give it a try. We had Pad Thai with tofu, chicken Tom Yum soup, Ginger Delight (packed with fresh veggies) and spring rolls (super fresh; an order of these a meal in themselves). Everything was cooked perfectly and reminded me of an old, no longer in business Thai place we used to frequent when we lived in PB. Plus, enough leftovers for lunch. Also, the restaurant was extremely clean and all staff were wearing masks. Further, the gentleman who answered the phone and took my order was completely lovely. The search for delicious and reasonably-priced Thai food in the EC is over. This place is now our go-to. read more

After becoming a regular at the Thai Style Restaurant located in Santee, I was very excited about going there last week hoping to relieve my craving of some seriously good Thai Food. BUT! After arriving to the parking lot, I was extremely disappointed to see that it was CLOSED and that a new ownership had taken place. So I waited for their Grand Opening and finally got a chance to stop by today to see how the food would taste compared to Thai Style... and to my surprise it sucked! =( I was extremely disappointed, the spicy noodles I normally get wasn't even spicy, I usually don't get it really spicy anyways but I can still taste the kick! And it was too sweet that it made me lose my appetite and the texture of the noodles wasn't cooked properly and was too rubbery for my liking. What made me even sadder is that I really miss the old owners. They were so nice and the service was great! They made their customers feel like they're at home while eating. As for this place Sab-E-Lee, you won't be seeing me there again... I'm gonna go find Thai Style (if it still exists somewhere out there) or a place that actually serves good Thai Food. read more

Was not expecting great Thai food in Santee, but was pleasantly surprised. (fan of Amarin - Mira Mesa, Antique Thai-Sports Arena, Saffron...) Food was complex, fresh and tasty! Excellent service and decent atmosphere. Portions were generious, better for 4 people. Would have like smaller portions so my wife and myself could sample more dishes. Looks like the couple of low ratings for the place was complaining was not hot enough. Try asking for the spice tray to goose it up. I'm off again today to eat there for the forth time.....Well worth the visit. read more

GREAT experience with a large order. Called early and asked for pickup by 5:40. They called me at 5:28 to let me know they were putting it in and it would be ready on time... first time a restaurant has done that for me. Spring rolls are good, I won't order from many places that are cheapo about putting in a ton of lettuce but they have the correct ingredients (thin peanut sauce though, not sure if that was just on ours or if that's their style). Drunken noodles, pad thai, panang curry were excellent and fresh just as promised. Pineapple fried rice tastes a little more Indian than Thai to me but also very good. Word to the wise, if you order a rice dish for takeout (e.g., curry), the amount of rice they give you is enough for one person so we make a pot of rice at home so the hungry hippos at home can have their fill (if you order in the restaurant seems like you have plenty of rice). Thai iced tea is great. Drunken noodles tasted a level spicier than the other dishes even though they were the same level of spice, I think I saw the same thing in another review so I'd order a level down for that specific dish. FYI, the 1-10 spice scale is on a Thai spicy scale, so if you are at all worried about spice you should only be ordering a 1 at most, if you can handle a generic medium salsa order a 2, etc. We have also dined in here and had great service. read more

We appreciated the many vegetarian options. The food was quite delicious. Not too oily like some other local places I have tried, but enough to keep the noodles from clumping together. It has a laid-back atmosphere with some nice Thai music playing in the background. The servers are quiet but friendly and make sure you get your food the way you want it. One of my favorite Thai places near us. Their food tastes super fresh and service is usually very quick. My favorite dish is the Pad See Ewe with chicken. My husband usually gets the yellow curry. It's pretty quiet most of the time. Good for a local date night or a dinner with your family. You can also order for pick-up which we have done a few times when I didn't want to leave the house. read more

Awesome Thai place. I'm more or less new to Thai food. I just moved here from Northeast Ohio and Thai is hard to find outside of Cleveland and Pittsburgh. I had had real Thai food in Atlanta a few times but the "thai" I had back home in NEO didn't compare and I didn't get it often. But this was fresh, delicious and a giant size for the price. 9 dollars got me twice the serving of Fried rice anywhere I've ever been. The spice level was great. I enjoy spicy food so I got a five and it was exactly what I thought a five would be. Also had the chicken satay as an appetizer and it was a little bland but still fresh. read more
