TLDR great local Vietnamese spot in Santee spring rolls with the Nem Nuong were solid. 8.1 - Soft chewy rice paper with the crispy deef fried eggroll skin in the middle along with lettuce and vermicelli noodles. Great textural contrast between the soft and chewy and the crispy eggroll skin paired very nicely with their rich nutty peanut sauce. 7.2 - The fried rice was very savory with a nice balance of sweetness from the peas however, the beef was dry. 6.8 - The shaken beef was a little disappointing because it was lacking the wok hay that I expect with shaken beef. We were in Santee running errands and visited Streets on a Saturday night. When we arrived it was fairly busy, tables full, but no customers waiting yet. We were seated along the wall which had booth seating, which I prefer. For drinks I ordered a Thai tea no boba and the hubs a coke. We order the following items for dinner: Appetizers - - Crispy egg rolls - with pork (4 pieces) - served with veggies and fish sauce, these were tasty. - Salt pepper chicken wings - (8 pieces) they were a tad over fried but flavor was good. - Spring rolls - (2 pieces) with pork and shrimp, we ordered these Togo. Hubs enjoyed these for a late evening snack. Entrees - - Combination fried rice - chicken, shrimp and cha siu (Chinese bbq pork) I liked the flavoring of the fried rice - it was not bland, but I did mix in a tiny bit of hoisin sauce. - Pho rare steak - overloaded with green onions and cilantro. We always order pho but I really wasn't feeling it that evening, so it was all the hubs. If you love tons of green onions and cilantro, get it! The broth had a really strong flavoring of the cilantro. Overall dinner was fairly good. Seemed like there were regular customers that visited often. Staff were super nice and friendly. This was our first time here and had high hopes for our meal. The spring rolls were refreshing and delicious, especially because mint was included. The peanut sauce was nutty and good too. My standards for he beef bahn mi sandwiches are high because I've had them from an actual Vietnamese bakery. These sandwiches strayed a bit from the traditional ones. The pickled vegetables seemed to have a dressing with it, rather than a clean flavor. I asked to exclude the jalapeño from one of the sandwiches. While the jalapeño wasn't in the inside, there were still a couple of slices on the outside of the bun. So, the heat from the pepper leaked into the bread and made it too spicy and I couldn't eat any more. That said, my pepper-head husband enjoyed his sandwich. read more

I was staying nearby and stopped in here for an early dinner. It was located in the Town Center Parkway Plaza on the west side of Cuyamaca St, just north of the 52 freeway. After looking over their menu, I ordered the P1 Signature phở đặc biệt which included oxtail, shank, flank, and brisket. Instead of ordering pho (since I'm so picky with pho, I didn't want to risk it), I ordered the rice vermicelli noodles with grilled chicken, grilled beef, grilled shrimp and egg rolls. Great portion size with just the right balance of vermicelli, protein, and fresh veggies. The nuoc mam tied everything together beautifully. My mom had the Short Rib Pho, and it was incredible. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender, juicy, and flavorful, with a broth that was rich but not oily. I do wish they offered broken rice plates not regular rice. We ordered: -Wing trio of salt&pepper, honey sriracha, and fish sauce ($20): So far one of the best wings! It's super crispy on every bite. I like s&p, honey sriracha then fish sauce but my fiancé likes fish sauce, s&p then honey sriracha. The honey sriracha is more of a wet marinade. I highly recommend getting the trio to see which flavors fancy you. -Signature Pho ($20): The broth looks really clean. Has oxtail, shank, flank and brisket. It's good but I have to say pho is not their strong point. -Shaken beef filet mignon ($20): Always my go to. The filet was super soft and chewy. The flavor is not as bold as I would like compared to other places but still really good. -Caramelized fish in clay pot ($20): Rare to see this dish. It's usually offered at places that have family style meals. Well, this was a mini family style meal because it came with a side of rice and sweet and sour tamarind soup. The soup had pineapple, slices of giant elephant ear (the spongy stalk), tomatoes, shrimp, beans sprouts. Everything tasted like your mom's home cooking but in a restaurant. My favorite Vietnamese places to eat are PT Eatery and Mom's Pho and Grill. Now Streets Pho and Grill is added to my list. Coincidentally, Streets is related to Mom's. This explains why we loved it so much and was comparing to Mom's. Mom's is owned by the sister and the brother owns Streets. They don't serve identical menu. We were blown away by Street Pho & Grill. From the moment we walked in the service was warm and welcoming. The gentleman taking our order accidentally forgot my wife's chai tea but it was no big deal. We reminded them and a lady brought it out right away with a smile. The food came fast and everything was cooked perfectly. My tri tip pho was rich and full of flavor. Our daughter just wanted plain noodles and when we added some of the broth from my bowl she loved it and finished the whole thing. They are not stingy at all with portions or quality. We were served and helped by Bobby. I believe he is the owner. He is super knowledgeable and gave recommendations for what to try out. We ordered the following: Spring roll pork and shrimp Pork Banh Mi Beef Banh Mi P1 (has ox tail) The Banh Mi came with hot bread which was excellent and made the sandwich taste even better. It may be hard out in these streets, but not at Streets Pho & Grill.. When they initially opened, I went by and found my new favorite east county pho spot. I started with the salt and pepper wings, which were cooked well but the chicken was flavorless until I added some chili oil. I prefer a shrimp pho, but didn't notice they had one, so the server convinced me to try the seafood pho, and it was delicious. Seafood and broth had a really fresh flavor. They checked in multiple times to make sure nothing else was needed, which made the service great. I had the Bun with Pork Egg Rolls and added Grilled BBQ Pork to make it my favorite "Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio." A combination, I hope they add to the menu with the other proteins. The pork egg rolls were amazing and some of the best I've had in San Diego. They were very well stuffed with savory ground pork. They are super flavorful and, more importantly, super crispy. They were good eating with the fish sauce and hot chili paste. Do give them a try. The grilled pork was very well made. It offered that great subtle yet effective smokey delicious flavor from the grill. The pork meat was also very tender. The veggies that came along with the egg rolls and pork were fresh and crisp. The romaine, bean sprouts, carrots, mint, and cucumbers were perfect. The vermicelli noodles were served at the right temp, and the fish sauce was very tasty as well. I ordered this place on Doordash when I was sick, and it felt like it healed a part of me. The pho broth was delicious, though I do wish they included more hoisin and sriracha in their delivery orders (there was only one packet of each, but I was at home so I just went in my fridge for some extras lol). They give plenty of bean sprouts, mint, and at first glance not a lot of jalapeños, but the peppers had an intense eye-watering kick that convinced me they have plenty! Another thing: I don't usually do pork, but the pork and shrimp spring rolls caught my eye. Ohhhh my god. So GOOD. You get the shrimpyness with more of a smooth texture from the pork that almost melts in your mouth. The peanut sauce on the side was amazing too, that little cup was clean by the end of my spring rolls. I also got the passion fruit green tea, it was bomb. The pho lasted me 2 meals, I just separated the noodles from the broth and heat the broth over the stove before adding the noodles in. I'm a big fan and will definitely be back :-) read more
