lol wut Ordered a steak & egg burrito at 9:47. Finally received my food at 10:08 when I went to ask what was going on since several other people ordered after me and left with their food before me. Now I am home with a cold burrito and IT'S NOT THE RIGHT ONE. Ordered Steak & Egg, received Chorizo. To add insult to injury, young boy that needs a belt busted my balls for asking for more than the allowed tiny hot sauce cups. I also asked for carrots and didn't get those either. What happened to Ferny's? Used to love this place for Taco Tuesday. It's all bright inside now since they remodeled. Maybe owner change? At least the Orange Bong is good Major bummer. The food here never disappoints. When we are running behind and need breakfast this is our go to. The breakfast burritos are so good. My kids also love the breakfast quesadilla. The portions are huge and I love the spicy carrots. We use DoorDash and the order always arrives fresh and still hot. I've been coming to Ferney's for fifteen years or so. Recently, they've cut the amount of salsa that they give you. So, whether I get the California Burrito, the Ferny Burrito or the Big Breakfast Burrito I always ask for for 4 Fea and 3 Green Salsas. Lately they put 6 Salsas in my bag instead of 7. No one mentions it. They've never said to me, listen if you want seven salsas.We need to charge you for the seventh one. You know, at least that way.I could make a decision if I wanted to pay for it or not. They don't say anything.They leave me with six salsas, and I was joking around in my mind, Thinking perhaps they can't count. I've been going there twice a week for years, and once a month or so I get Breakfast Burritos for the entire Office Staff. Recently, I tried another taco shop.Basically, cheating on my buddy, Ferny and that's my new spot now. They don't mind how many salsas I ask for and their food is delicious. As far as food goes, I give Ferny's Five Stars, as far as communication from the girl, behind the counter to the customer, its just not good, That's why they're getting one star on this review. I ordered the chilaquiles with a Jamica drink. The chilaquiles came with scrambled eggs instead of overeasy which makes all the difference with the yoke. I stated it was my fault and ordered overeasy eggs on the side as a second purchase. It also came with a side of Refried beans that tasted straight out the can. The Jamaica was water down also. Just went to Ferny's for lunch. I didn't know what to try, so I just went with the 5 rolled tacos. I was disappointed that it was just guacamole & cheese on top, so I had them add lettuce. Flavor was ok, nothing too special. The spot was a typical taco shop. The service was ok. I didn't even realize she was talking to me because she wasn't looking at me at all. I may or may not be back. I just happened to be in the area and decided to try it. I gave it 4 stars because any taquitos that is guacamole & cheese is never 5-stars. Ferny's is one of the best taco shops I've found. It's our go-to when we aren't exploring for new places. Their salsa is top notch (our favorite is the Fea/ hottest one). Our go-to orders there are the Steak and egg Breakfast burrito (pro-tip add chipotle cream sauce ), Surf and Turf Fries, carne asada and adobada tacos. It was very simple with the meat (which did have good flavor - pretty solid carnitas), pico, guacamole. I enjoy burritos like this that are simple without rice and beans. It could have been a little bigger. The taco was also good, but not great... for a crispy taco it could have been a little more crispy. The service was fine for a typical take out place. I've heard over and over again from several friends that this is THE spot for mexican/taco shop in the area and I have to agree... for the tacos. I had a burrito here once and that was not that great in terms of price, portion, and taste, however, I then followed up with the tacos... THE TACOS! The regular (non-mini) tacos themselves are quite pricey, (~$6 each depending on the protein you choose), however, it is so worth it. They are pretty hefty and the amount of protein makes up for it. I am a sucker for a fresh, hand-pressed tortilla, and these do not disappoint. The chew and bite into the tortilla is soft yet firm enough to told the monstrosity of fillings that it comes with. I recommend the fish, carne, and adobada. I decided to try a crispy potato taco for once, something I don't tend to order, but I was pleasantly surprised with how good it was. The crunchy shell was nicely fried and the potato had really great flavor with pico and sour cream on top. wow, I'm a fan now! read more

Great Mexican food when ur in Santee, we use to go here a lot when we lived around this area years ago. The down side I saw was the hot sauces didn't have any spiciness to them and with little flavor other then tomatoes. The veggie burrito was not seasoned as well, it had bell peppers, tomatoes, onions, very little potatoes and beans, it was supposed to have rice in it but I never got to any. The burritos are also on the smaller side which is disappointing because the price is high. The good about this taco shop, the carne asada fries were actually big and good, the carne asada had flavor and there was a lot of it, the diablo burrito was delicious and the diablo sauce was perfect, a little hint of heat but packed with goodness. read more
