**STEER CLEAR OF FAIR OAKS AUTOMOTIVE!** Hi neighbors, i normally keep pretty quiet and to myself about this stuff, but i wanted to share a very unfortunate experience my husband and i had with Fair Oaks Automotive. I am attaching the review my husband wrote with photos, but just in case TLDR, they damaged my husband's property and are refusing to pay to fix it. Their final offer was for us to pay half and they pay half of the large tear they made in my husband's car seat. We shouldn't pay ANY of it when we didn't create the tear. Their reasoning is that "we aren't going to pay to fix your seat when the seat was already worn out anyways." We have been very surprised and shocked with how the owner has chosen to handle this situation and refused to make it right. You cannot just go damaging a customer's property and not fix it. Mistakes happen, but it's how you choose to handle those mistakes that's important. I would advise everyone to steer clear of them or take very detailed before and after photos of their vehicles before turning them over to them. We are now unfortunately going to have to pay to reupholster the seat due to someone else's damages. In the photos attached: you can see a large rip where an employee sat down in the driver's seat to fix my husband's window with a tool or keys in their back pocket and then turned it back in to us without saying a word. Pulled in at 4:45 when they close at 6 and they refuse to do an overall inspection of the car. Want me to drop it off with just 1 other person behind me in line, after driving 30 minutes over here. A car I just bought used with a 10 day warranty to return and they WONT help me out. THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY TRASH!! DO NOT COME HERE!! They treat you like everyone can just drop off there and no ones in any hurry to get driving there vehicle again. read more

My cars check engine light turned on as I drove on I-10 on a Sunday afternoon and after just a few miles the cars engine started to make a loud knocking sound. I dropped the car off at the first automotive shop I saw (Fair Oaks Automotive), because it was closed I filled out a night key drop envelope explaining that the vehicles check engine light had turned o. I called on Monday to check on it and was told that the oil filter had not been tightened and all the engine oil had drained out causing the engine to fail. I contacted my insurance company (Gieco) and put in a claI'm for the damage. Fai Oaks Automotive replaced my cars engine and Gieco my insurance needs a brea down of the engine expenses to pay the claim but Fair Oaks Automotive will not provide them the paperwork so now I'm stuck with the bill! that is close to $7,000! I paid Fair Oaks Automotive the whole amount to get my car back because I had to rent a car in order to go to work an additional $970.00! out of my pocket! This shop is obviously over charging and my insurance company (Gieco) is not paying until they see the breakdown for all the expenses. I'm out almost $8,000 and Fair Oaks Automotive made a killing! PLEASE BE WARNED: THIS SHOP WILL NOT COOPERATE WITH YOUR INSURANCE AND YOU WILL END UP PAYING THE BILL!!!! read more

Fair Oaks Automotive has taken such good care of us over the years. They communicate well with us with straightforward findings and solutions with a reasonable estimate. They have handled everything from major engine repairs to crazy electrical problems in several of our various aging vehicles and also done it in a reasonable and timely manner. They are also very competitive in their prices. I have never felt overcharged. Listen, this is your auto repair shop! STOP going to dealerships in the Boerne area that don't respect your time and finding your service representative can be like a game of hide and seek followed by a fat bill with overpriced parts and markups after waiting forever for a callback or your vehicle even for just simple stuff. read more

My daughter had a check engine light and EPC light on her Volkswagen Jetta. I called Fair Oaks Automotive and Roger and JT were great! They had my daughter bring the car in after school and ran the codes. They knew she needed oil and topped her off. 2 days later I brought the car in for a complete check and they made sure it was taken care of. I will take my cars and tell everyone I know to take their cars to this establishment. My car suddenly stopped as I was driving on the freeway while headed to Boerne. I wasn't too far from these guys so I requested the tow truck driver bring me here. When I got here they were booked solid for the day, which didn't bode well for me since my only mode of transportation wouldn't start. I stepped out to frantically call other body shops to see if I could get my car in there for the day and they were full as well. When I came back in, the guy at the desk was talking to one of the mechanics about what could be happening with my car. One of the guys took a look at it, came back in, and searched for recalls on my vehicle. They found one and I'm headed to the dealership now to see what they can do. I've been coming to this shop since I first started driving and the fact that I moved to a different part of the city didn't change the fact that I knew I could rely on them when I needed to. I'll say, I come here for inspections ONLY. Roger (the guy behind the front desk) is very rude to customers. Also, I've been ignored the last two times for a while before he finally looked up as if I was inconveniencing him. I sit in the lobby and listen to how he makes stuff up to customers on the phone and exaggerates issues big time. I then hear the price they are quoted. This place sure seems like your typical scam automotive place unfortunately. Some poor old lady with only 39,000 miles on her car needed help with a squeaky break. He told her she needed a new battery, rear rotors, rear taillights, and a new battery. The car only has 39k! He then told her $2750. Her younger son called back shortly after asking questions because of the high price. Roger starts yelling at him to come and look at the rotors etc. He gets off the phone and starts talking trash ab the son calling up here to question. I can't believe he is allowed to work here. Very rude and disrespectful. read more

Yesterday, I dropped my Honda Accord off at Fair Oaks Automotive because the engine light came on in my car and it said Engine System Problem. Today, Chris from Fair Oaks Automotive told me my transmission was dead. Which was odd because my car is only 5 years old and only has 47,000 miles on it. Chris said it seems like electronic problem killed my transmission. Chris told me to call Honda, not a dealership but Honda corporate to see if they can help me with this situation. I learn, I am still in my Power Train Warranty and it expires in 13 days. Mark from Fair Oaks Automotive drove me to Gunn Honda while a AAA tow truck took my Honda Accord to Gunn Honda. I would of never known I was still within my warranty if Chris hadn't told me to call Honda. Both Chris and Mark were such southern gentleman for taking care of me and I am so thankful to both of them. read more

Chris & Raul @ Fair Oaks Automotive provided exemplary service at a reasonable price. I took my truck in because I bit off more than I could chew, with a full dash replacement on my 2000 Dodge Ram 2500. I knew that i wanted to only do the job once, as its very labor intensive to remove the dash. So I even decided to do as much HVAC/Vacuum repairs as were needed. Next i shopped for estimates, starting with the dealer as a benchmark, their quote was 1.5k more than FOA and didnt include half of what FOA did on the HVAC. The lowest quote that i got came in at 1k below FOA, but i didn't believe that the shop truly understood the scope of work, and the details i was looking for. Chris was very detailed in his estimate and understanding of what i was trying to accomplish and furnished an estimate only a couple hours after my call. I dropped off my truck the next day and Raul worked his magic, completing the job in 2 days time, with a high level of attention to detail. All in all, i cant recommend FOA enough. You can find cheaper, but you wont find better. read more

Great service and fair cost. I usually fixed my vehicle when it comes to simple repairs. I just don't have the time. I usually get several quotes and I recommend that everyone should too. This is so you can compare the estimates and see the honesty of the business. Just like most auto shops it comes with a warranty. The people are great and the service is professional. I drove my vehicle to there shop but i didn't think about how i would get home. The Fair Oaks Automotive offers customers a lift home by there team at no cost. I don't have deep pockets for dealerships and big chain companies. I hope this helps the viewer. We have taken our vehicles to FOA the last few times we've needed things checked out/repaired. We've been ripped off by Car-X in Leon Springs, so no more going there (I posted a recent review on them.) To know that you can totally TRUST FOA mechanics and employees is a wonderful thing! If we ever have to move from this area of SA, we will STILL use FOA. They are fair, knowledgeable, patient, friendly, and treat their customers well. Our most recent repair with them (9/20), saved us about $1100, compared to Car-X's estimate of $1900 (our Honda Odyssey was leaking oil and we thought maybe the repair was still under their warranty, but it was not.) So I took their estimate and headed over to FOA. Immediately, I was told that Car-X was charging $495 in labor for the gaskets, when it's only $295. Yeah, and there were more groans from him. FOA also offers the very nice service of taking you home or picking you up, if need be. For this recent repair, I called the next day to let them know I'd be in before closing to pay and pick up my Honda, but I was still waiting for someone in my family to return with a vehicle. FOA almost insisted on me taking their offer of a free pick up. So I did. The young man who chauffered me, Justin, arrived promptly and was very polite. I cannot say enough wonderful things about FOA!! read more

I love this place! I just relocated from California and needed to get my car inspected in order to get it registered. My daughter who has been in Texas for 2 years recommended Fair Oaks Automotive. They where extremely competent and informative. Where they went above and beyond was after I left the establishment. I had left my proof of insurance along with the entire packet from AAA with all info on my Auto and Homeowners policy on there counter. Do not take your vehicle to these people. These people insisted on charging a widow, that has spent several thousand dollars with them over the last 2 years for regular maintenance, just to connect her vehicle to the computer to tell her why the check engine light was on.
