No. Do we address issues as they come up? Yes. I have been involved with Broadview for many years in many roles. The care and compassion from ALL is phenomenal. From the Administrator to front line staff to the kitchen staff to housekeeping staff it is a down home family atmosphere. The rooms were supposed to be controlled by your own thermostat, but they didn't work. One man kept yelling from his room "I'm Freezing." Food was served frozen and cold more often than not. All meals were served to her in her room. I never once saw anybody using the dining room. They were supposed to be given the choice, NOT! The floor was to have snacks if she needed them but was never able to have anybody bring her anything as she was not to walk without assistance. If she needed something they always said, "I'll be right back to never return." The screens on the TV were blue. We were told that they were working with LG to get it fixed but she was there two weeks and nothing changed. How long had they been blue? She wasn't able to watch TV as it induced a headache. Housekeeping services were sparce. I could go on and on. The only thing that worked for her was her physical therapy. Nice people and they got her going so we could get her out of there!

I also checked out their website's Careers page because I want to be sure my dad is supported by caregivers who are paid well and offered good benefits, as research shows those who are treated well by employers give better care to residents. But even though the page listed job openings, no pay ranges or benefits were listed, so I asked Jennifer to provide this info and explained why I requested it. Jennifer responded, "I would like to have time to talk with you in detail. Usually these questions are asked by competitors cold calling so I hope I am not coming across skeptical. ... I definitely would like to provide you with the information to make the best decision for your dad. A virtual tour is also something available if you cannot do one in person." This response was not only weird and off-putting, but also objectively problematic: 1. Colorado legally requires employers to publicly post pay ranges with job listings so workers don't have to waste time applying and interviewing for jobs with unfair wages. 2. Jennifer prioritized her fear of giving super basic info to competitors over giving transparent info to someone going through the traumatic process of watching her dad basically deteriorate. 3. Jennifer implied she would essentially hold info hostage unless I went on a tour with her. 4. If she was THAT worried, she could've easily found me on LinkedIn to see if I was a competitor. I sent a firm but cordial response pointing out that Grace Pointe is not legally compliant and the lack of transparency for both prospective clients and employees is unfair. I forwarded the email chain to the owner and executive director, clearly requesting a response/clarification from all three parties. Strangely, I didn't receive a reply, even though Jennifer had replied to all previous emails promptly. However, their Careers page was almost instantaneously updated, with all job listings removed and replaced by generic messages about how Grace Pointe loves its employees. As a former board member of a senior care nonprofit and volunteer of 3 different senior care organizations, these events have by far been the most concerning I've ever witnessed -- especially from a healthcare organization whose primary responsibility is ensuring seniors receive good care.

The therapy focused on all the positive changes that were being made by our daughter and also assisted in helping her see her behavioral patterns. The employees at Embark are amazing individuals. During visits we unfortunately saw some of the unpleasant behaviors the kids display. The employees are not always treated well by the teens - they are verbally and mentally abused by these kids. What amazed me the most - these employees show up everyday and are prepared to start a new and fresh day with these teens. From our own experience - my daughter really struggled in the beginning and was not very nice - these employees never gave up on her. Instead they listened and helped her find ways to cope with the items she needed to work to become better. I give huge Kudos to all the employees at Embark. Residential Treatment is hard on the family as a whole. Admitting and sending your child away is one of the toughest realities that many of us parents have to face. We felt very comfortable with our daughter being at Embark and also felt these people surrounding her had her best interest at hand. Her Therapist always showed up for our daughter's needs and was challenged heavily by our daughter - she never gave up!!! Yes - she NEVER gave up on our daughter. Much has changes, people move on and I can only agree with some of the current (2021) employees of Good Sam Ft. Collins that say they would never bring a loved one to this place. All I can say is I agree, I sincerely wish I had never brought my spouse to this place. We have been repeatedly been the recipients of intimidation and yelling by the Social workers. We are lied to on a consistent basis by leadership and denied the normal legal comforts. There are some great people here but sometimes the negatives will out way the good when the negatives are so consistant.
