I'm not happy. I have a receipt where Fairdale Hardware fixed my mower. 95 dollars for repair. It worked the first time I used it and all summer...it never started again. I had to pay someone to mow lawn. I would have taken it back but my car was out of commission. So now I start the growing season once again with a lawn mower that doesn't work. read more

Great small town hardware store. They are so helpful and really treat you well. Only downside is they have a little higher prices and sometimes lack thing you need. But if they don't have it they can order it or really educate you on what you want. read more

Full disclosure here, I grew up the son of a local hardware store owner. My father to this very day owns one in a different county. I called and spoke to someone on the phone to see if they carried Husqvarna trimmers and the model I was looking for, which they did. When I arrived at the store, after driving nearly 18 miles rather than 12.5 to Southern Indiana Equipment so that I may keep the money local, I walked in was asked if I needed assistance. I stated what I was looking for and I was told I needed a mask. Confused, I asked for what. I was told that to be in the store, I must wear a mask. I stated I did not have a mask and pulled my shirt up. I was then told that would not work and I could "buy" a bandanna. I politely declined. Another gentleman, who turned out to be the owner, approached me and stated that the state required it. I informed him that he was not under inspection from the Dept of Health and that was not true. He then offered to sell me a $320 trimmer outside. I stated that he would not be selling me a $320 timer outside and that if I were to buy one it would be inside or I would take my business to Indiana. He said that "I'm trying my best working 14 hour days, and my workers will not come in if I don't require "costumers to wear mask". I said I understood and that I would spend my money at a business that did not require this and that I wasn't sure how many $300+ sales he could walk away from. I spoke to a friend whose father in law walked out as well for the same reason. Advice to the owner...don't blame others when you go under, don't blame the Lowe's or HD and finally when the people show up and tell you to hop in the boxcar, you may want to think twice. read more

The store doesn't use 'Feed' in its name anymore. Bought a Husqvarna mower here today. Shopped and looked at the models last week; made my choice today. Both times I worked with Doug. Very helpful and professional. I got about a 20 minute tutorial on servicing and operating the unit. And he prepped it for today's mowing and loaded it in my wagon. Can't beat that! Orange is my favorite color so I guess this brand is for me. Hah! Already mowed half my yard-was as easy as using a blender to mix a drink. The right mower for my needs. read more

This place is a joke do not take your riding lawn mower or, as a matter of fact any machine into them they make you wait three weeks or longer. My husband took his riding lawn mower in there and they totally messed it up then he had to go back and get the key for the riding lawn mower so unprofessional!!! I normally don't give 5 stars but kudos to the mechanics and staff at Fairdale Hardware for earning it. I had to drive from the east end and it was worth the trip! My old chain saw, and Toro lawn mower needed a number of repairs as well as a wood chipper I bought on Craigslist. These guys really know what they are doing in rebuilding a carburetor as well as making other repairs. The great part was that they charged a reasonable fee. All items were repaired quicker than promised too and all three start up great. They also sell recreational gas which is $5.99 per gallon but well worth the cost since everything seems to run better on this higher octane water free gas. Overall, I am very pleased and urge others to make the trip to Fairdale...such nice people. I forgot to mention customer appreciation day where they had a spread of food for their customers. Not sure I remember Home Depot or Lowes doing that for me! read more

Great store for power equipment. Doug is awesome. I drove from J-town to Fairdale to purchase and Echo Chainsaw and Husqvarna mower from these guys. They fuel up the equipment, test run them and get your warranty registered. read more
