To help Future generations of students who are forced to attend public school:…read more Other than the cellphone policy this school is pretty good, but the lunch food isn't great but THE MOTZERELLA STICKS ARE SO GOOD!!! Every school in Fairfax county has to abide by the cell phone policy and I find it problematic because listening to music helps me focus and Spotify is blocked on the computers and Pandora has too many ads. Most kids are nice and the teachers try, not all of them are perfect but they do their jobs. I am looking back at horror stories from when they were renovating this place so I'm glad we're not going through that anymore! One of my teachers let me make the seating chart because she didn't want to. I don't like the metal detectors, according to the school news paper 77% of kids think that they don't improve safety. But not really something I can control they have them at all secondary schools in Fairfax. (Or at least are trying to). One of my friends backpacks keeps going off because it has metal attached to it so they get stopped every morning. There is a crowd for everyone here and it is genuinely one of the best schools I've attended. The staff is wonderful and my councilor is wonderful. They have a lot of programs and even though the classes are stressful because Fairfax... they can be really fun. If you find an unblocked game website you're good to go! A lot of people who were students come back as teachers because they enjoyed it, might see me as a teacher here in a few years, not quite sure what I want to be though. If it were up to me, I would remove the SOLS but I can't do that. All and all this is a pretty nice school--just don't mind the random red goop on the ceiling in the language bathroom that's been there for a year, we don't know what that is, might be an alien not gonna lie. (There's a lot of smoking but it's easy to avoid). --Josie 10th grd

You have to sign and request permission on the computer to go to the bathroom. They pulled me out…read moreof class to ask me to take down my petition regarding the bathroom policy. Also it's overcrowded and the halls regularly come to a standstill multiple times a day. I thought I might miss the place when I graduated, but I loathe this school nearly two years later. I only hope my generation can fix the mess you all made of the school system. Grow as a community and try to think what it's like being a young adult treated this way before your students resent you more than they already do.

The middle school failed my child this school year. There's a notorious group of students that…read moresystematically bully new kids or someone outside their circle and the worst part, these students are favored among teachers. Multiple complains to the principal resulted in NOTHING! Only a check mark talk with the offenders and the vicious cycle goes on. It's a disgrace that teachers only promote their favorites to win competitions like Science fair. The middle school drastically lacked any fun or engaging events, fundraisers or activities that encouraged team work and inclusion of parents. There was only one field trip throughout the year and no promised end of year concert that even public schools have. The end of year award ceremony was unfairly selective. Throughout the year we got Zero photos from any teacher showing a school day, so it feels like this year just fell out equation with no memories to look back to. There's no graduation ceremony for 5th graders either, which they truly deserve. Since the new owner took over, the school environment (especially in upped grades) is rapidly deteriorating. And it's not surprising, the owner lives outside the country and rarely shows up. My gut feeling was right when I checked the school website before we enrolled and it was generic. And that's how this year felt, generic! A generic website with no teacher names, stock photos of students, there's nothing there that shows actual student life or curriculum or shows any photos of the teachers. This place is about squeezing every dollar they can from paying parents, while failing on delivering the fair support and equal opportunities every student deserves.

This year has been a joke for my daughter. She said she's had the worst year since she started…read moreschool. She complained about daily bullying, degrading or disrespectful comments from some kids in upper grades, because apparently, teachers combined 5th, 6th and 7th grades in the same classroom. School administration is not properly addressing the bullying issue either and I heard the new owner is missing in action, never present and it shows. We as parents were never invited to any classroom event, where we could engage with students, teachers and other parents. There's also no student counselor on site, which upper grades really need. This school needs to step up with its upper grades policies, so every student feels appreciated and having the support the need.

A team of caring and intelligent educators and leaders. We…read morehave been at The Springs for near a year now. We started the application process pre COVID and entered during the summer program which secured our slot for the fall, so my experience is limited to the Toddler Program (my child started at 22 months old) during the pandemic. For background, I have had my now toddler in a chain daycare (Kindercare) and a great in home daycare but those are true daycares vs a Montessori school so they are completely incomparable. I only have laudatory remarks about the professionalism and care of The Springs. Mr. Dan, The Head of School (HoS), and Ms. Katelyn the Assistant HoS are absolute leaders. Incredibly responsive to any request and communicative on all aspects of the school, I trust their judgment and appreciate all the efforts to remain operational during COVID. Our teacher Ms. Katelyn D., and her assistant teachers Ms. Belkin and Ms. Ethel are amazing with the children and my tot is THRIVING! I have sent emails late on a Friday or Saturday night to Ms. Katelyn D.,not expecting a response until the next working day, only to find a reply in my inbox within hours. Professional and dedicated, I feel a sense of team between the educators and parents as all focus is on the child. The Springs Montessori has me a true believer in the Montessori methods and although yes, it is more expensive than the other daycares my peace of mind for the well being of my child and results of my happy kiddo worth the price tag. Some perks: -A daily report of diaper changes/ what was eaten/ nap length so you can plan your evening -Catered lunches- no oops I forgot the lunch box on the table moments, such a time saver -Parent teacher conferences- yes for a TWO year old, it's awesome -Weekly photos of your child engaging in activities at school -virtual learning options -online portal to track your child's milestones and communicate on routine admin requirements Things to consider: -It's a school, not a day care, school schedules include seasonal breaks -when things get back to normal the kids wear a uniform, I love this but it does add cost -the parking lot is not great, it's busy! Between the parking lot and COVID mitigation, allot extra time for drop off/ pick up Bottom line- I love this school and my child loves this school too.

I was told once my child had pink eye. After picking them up, my child's eyes were NORMAL. Took them to the pedi. just in case, and was told nothing was wrong with their eyes. Not worth the crazy amount of tuition they charge. Find somewhere else, you DO NOT GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
