Then, she needed a new piano teacher and I casually asked Dan if he knew anyone - just hoping he had a name handy that he could rattle off the top of his head. Instead, Dan was kind enough to spend his time and effort looking for someone to recommend that he felt would be able to help build upon her musical knowledge. It was above and beyond anything that we expected. He truly cares about his students and it is absolutely evident. My daughter liked him so much that I decided that I'd like to take lessons from him as well. I played guitar as a teenager but then took a few years off (25 or so to be somewhat exact). :) A few years ago, I rediscovered the joy of playing and decided that I wanted to get better but, I was stuck in a rut and didn't know how to make any real progress. I was hoping that if I scoured the internet and watched enough videos that I could find a way to teach myself to get better. Well, I was floundering and not getting anywhere. It was beyond frustrating. So, instead of spending all of my time watching countless videos I reached out to Dan to see if he had room in his schedule for me. The day of the event they did not recall that I had sent them a selection of 14 songs to play. I sent it to them via text right there and they pulled it up. They ended up only playing about 2 songs on the list and kept taking long pauses between songs they mostly chose themselves. It almost seemed like they did not want to play from the list I sent. They asked for requests but sometimes the guests did not have any but they continued to wait around. It was a little strange how many pauses there were. Iman and DJ Kia had routine calls with us to check-in and offer advice. We knew we could trust their opinions and flexility during the uncertain times. On the day of the wedding, DJ Kia was so involved with every aspect of the ceremony and reception. He knew exactly what to do, when to do it, and how to make our wedding day an unforgettable experience. He literally orchestrated our ceremony processional and was making sure everything was running smoothly. Everyone felt at ease walking down the aisle because DJ Kia was there to send them off. We were lucky enough to have Iman MC our wedding, and believe us when we tell you he knows how to put on a show. The dance floor comes alive with Iman on stage and everyone was out of their seats and dancing the entire night. Our cocktail hour ended up going over schedule, which pushed back our reception. It was no worry though, because Iman was there to quickly restructure the timeline and ensure everything ran smoothly. We also used Night Owls for our video production and working with them was a truly pleasant experience. They captured every aspect of the wedding beautifully. In just a few short weeks, we had our trailer and wedding video created, both of which were edited to our liking. Took forever. Got to the trial lesson only to be told the person we'd worked so hard to get wasn't available so it's with so-and-so. Uh. Fine, but we picked the other person for a reason. And booked another trial with the original teacher, only to get to THAT lesson and realize it's still not the instructor we'd been aiming for. While sitting during the lesson, another student walked in and was told "oh so-and-so is no longer with us so this other person will be your teacher today." What? So you're not told ahead of time? (The mom asked when they'd known this teacher was leaving and it was two weeks prior, but they didn't bother to give anyone notice.) I find it strange that you pay in advance for these situations. Anyway. It's too poorly managed for me, which is too bad because it is certainly a great concept.
