Fairfield is my favourite hotel in Huntsville, TX but they failed miserably this last time. It was bad enough that the elevator was out of service so they tried to be considerate and give me a room on the 2nd floor so I would have to walk up one flight of stairs. The accommodation was very comfortable, nice and clean however when I went to closed the drapes, which were not a full set, did not move which really was not a problem but the room was right above the pool and there was a flood light that not only lit up the pool area but shone right into my room. I could have requested another room but I was too exhausted the two nights when I arrived each evening at my room and wasn't really annoyed, just wanted to sleep. I must say that the morning breakfast didn't disappoint, Hopefully on my next visit, the elevator will be in working order and I will get a decent accommodation. read more

The location was great! Staff could be a little more friendly in tone, not to say anybody was rude. Every employee we ran across was just very dry in terms of speaking and kind of made me feel like I was bothering them. Now when it comes to the room, the crevice attachment on their vacuum, really needs to be used. The main area of the carpet was relatively clean, but all around the edges was gross. My daughters were utilizing the bathroom to do their make up and hair, so I opted to go sit on the floor in the room in front of the long mirror. Let's just say I got a towel so I can sit on it versus straight on the floor. They also need to add real blackout curtains. There were outdoor lamps that were shining right through our room so we did not get the best sleep. They have these little faux blackout curtains on the side that you can't close. Would I stay here again? If I was in a pickle, yes. For $189 a night I expect check in with welcoming smile and cleanliness. read more

This is a new hotel. I had actually booked a room with a king bed , but I got 2 doubles. There are ample power outlets throughout the room including USB. The desk is a good space for working and you can see the TV from the bed or the desk. The room has a small refrigerator, a microwave, and coffee maker. Paul Mitchell hygiene products are included in your room. My room had a accessible tub with a seat and adjustable shower head. The shower also had a curved shower rod. The hotel has an outdoor pool and workout room. The breakfast was pretty good with several choices and toppings that could be used in your oatmeal or waffles. There was no regular creamer or milk for the coffee in the lobby. read more

The check in process a complete and utterly ridiculous nightmare. I came into check in they found me and he asked me to insert a card and I asked why he ignored me twice and said waiting for you I asked is this for incidentals he said yes. So I the. Get an alert that I was charged. They said the room was not paid for and there the lies-arguing-chaos- blame game ensued. The room had been paid for with company card days before and they tried to get me fill out. A form and the lady went back and forth on why she said. She blamed the guy she was training! The worst customer service ever! We have been traveling for well over 17 years! When dealing with people's money there is absolutely no room for error! This company is one of the best do better and train better and when mistakes are made make it right immediately especially when dealing with people's money! read more

We are spending the weekend in Huntsville, TX getting our son set up in his dorm at Sam Houston. We were told to stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites because it's new, clean & nice. Cleanliness is EVERYTHING to me. Hotels gross me out especially during this pandemic. We were assured that they're taking extra steps & precautions making sure everything is thoroughly cleaned. This was not our experience. I do not think our bathroom was even cleaned. There was dirt and smudges on the shower walls. When I stepped into the shower I closed the curtain and an OLD HARD washcloth literally fell onto my head from the shower curtain rod. Coffee maker and ice bucket were unusable. See pics. read more

I've stayed twice at this Fairfield in the past month. The first time I stayed, the room was clean and smelled fresh. The second time I stayed, it smelled of body odor. I should've trusted my nose and asked for another room. The pillows were rough and hard to sleep on. The room smelled the entire night. I detected that the stench was coming from the bathroom, so I wiped down the toilet which made it smell a little better. The next morning I discovered that the bathroom walls were dirty! I will never understand how someone will clean their nose and wipe their booger's on a wall with toilet paper sitting right there! I freaked out. I spoke to the desk clerk and hotel manager about it. He wanted to give me points but I asked for a partial credit for my hotel stay. He assured me he would give me a credit, but I'm yet to see it reflected on my account. I think I'll do better staying elsewhere or renting from an Airbnb. Marriott dropped the ball with the cleanliness. read more

Front desk ladies were helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Only complaint is the breakfast area and the lobby restroom were Not clean, waffle mix splattered everywhere, none of the tables were clean for us to sit and eat. Everything looked old and sticky. We just left to use the restroom in our room and went to ihop Which is close by. Besides that everything was great. read more

After booking here online, I was pretty scared of the outcome of my visit upon arrival and looking at other Yelp reviews. This was by far one of the cleanest and nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. It was newly remodeled upon arriving and everything was very well kept up and everyone was very friendly. The rooms were incredibly nice and we had no issues whatsoever throughout our stay. Another great plus about this location was that it was right next to just about anything and everything you could need! I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area. read more

Clean. Beds are hard, pillows are dated and need replacing. Rough night sleep. Room is noisy (different buzzing and humming all night). Shower has no hook near it for towel. Shampoo is a wall shampoo that was locked and unopenable (more than one of us tried). But it is clean. read more

Very friendly staff, the room, lobby and hotel are very clean overall. Downside, walls are thin. Between people walking above us and waking to our neighbor snoring, yes snoring.... it was a bit noisy. The shower was also the smallest hotel shower I've ever seen. This seemed like a fairly new hotel in a decent location with a shopping center & restaurants within walking distance. I stayed in a king room which was spacious enough for two. The bathroom was updated and offered a large walk-in shower. The hotel also offered complimentary breakfast in the morning which was nice but nothing special. Just expect your basic continental breakfast items. Only negative is there isn't an ice machine on every floor so I had to go on a little adventure to find it but overall this was a nice stay with pleasant staff. read more

First, the place is too noisy. Either we have giants above us or hotel clearly did not care about installing any noise canceling items on floors or walls. We can hear the conversation of the people next to us, if a shower turns on around us or if a potty flushes. Second, our room window faces the back of the hotel right over the pool and a huge BRIGHT light that shines right at the windows. The light is so bright that it comes in around the edges of the curtain and make the room difficult to sleep in for a person that needs a room to be dark to sleep. Third, the small shower. Ladies forgot about having room to place your legs fOr shaving, it is not happening. Plus the water seeps out around and under the shower curtain so when you are done with your shower you will have a nice water soaked bath mat to step on. Plus an area around the shower on the floor, don't put anything on the floor around the shower you would like to keep dry. read more

Wow. Not Marriott standards by far. The lady who checked us in at the front desk was the best part of the entire stay. My Family member works for the corporate office and recommended this location while we were traveling cross Country. I will be writing a review to them too. The pool was green and smelled bad. They said they could not get any chlorine. Strange but okay. The first room we were assigned to looked like there was blood splattered under the TV and smelled like dirty linens. We asked for a different room because we have Children and that's unacceptable. She was very kind and did give us a second room. It was not much better. Stained sheets, white/yellow stuff dripping down the bed skirt, there were literally green boogers on the shower walls, the toilet seat was broken, microwave did not work properly and it was just not clean at all. And to top it off it was not inexpensive. The worst part of all... "breakfast." It was a Petri dish of just filth and germs. The area in which you eat was so filthy there was constantly food smashed into the floors and dirty tables. The area with the food was just disgusting. The waffle batter was sitting in a pitcher with plastic wrap over it and looked like something from a swamp. It looked almost green. There was half eaten pastries with bites taken out of them back on the counter and in the tray that you grab out of. Food all over the area just left there. We had to go out to eat every morning because it was just so bad. We have traveled all over the United States and this is worse than a one star hotel. There is no way we would want to stay at a Marriott property again. If you have a choice, stay next door at the Hampton Inn. read more

Nice and new hotel. Friendly staff, clean rooms and clean lobby. Continental breakfast is complimentary and a nice touch. Great selection of fresh food and beverages. Upon check in, we had a small "hiccup" with our reservation. I want to give a shout out to the hotel manager who was very accommodating and attentive to my needs. Job well done. Thank you. New hotel so everything is new. The water pressure is not strong. I stayed 3 nights for business and each morning there were no scrambled eggs. I had to tell the front desk. The lady in charge of breakfast was visiting other employees in the office. Thermostat was hard to set, either too cold or too warm. Manager parks his car in the covered drive way. read more

This place is nice for the price. Very clean - comfy rooms. Friendly staff. Nicely decorated. Full breakfast included. Nice "business" area w/computers. I would have given it a 5 except that our room faced an open field area. At the very edge of the Fairfield property and not far from the building, was a HUGE light that looks like a stadium light. It shot right into our room (Room 418). I had to use a coat hanger with clips and a pillow on top of the A/C to close the blackout curtains in the middle to block the light. Regardless, light came in around the edges of the curtains and lit the room. During the middle of the night, you could easily walk around the room without fear of stubbing your toe or running into a piece of furniture. NOT good for sleeping. read more

I'd rate this property zero stars but it's not an option. The worst hotel experience I've had in 20 years. I booked a room at this hotel 30+ days go. Confirmed by email, voice and app. They canceled the reservation via email at 1:40am on the day of arrival...keep in mind I had already checked in to the property through the app 36+ hours prior to arrival. The woman at the front desk said they had canceled my reservation and rebooked us 30+ miles away. I asked to speak to the GM, the receptionist said they weren't accepting customer calls. I called the Marriott Rewards line who called the GM but the still refused to do something. The reward desk said they had never seen a property do what they did. read more

I have stayed in many hotels over the years. And, this was by far the worst experience with customer service/management I have ever experienced. I made reservations over a week in advance for me and my wife. I received a confirmation the day I booked. I also double checked a few days prior AND, I called the day of our arrival and let them know we would be late getting there. Upon arrival, we were told there was a "plumbing issue" and our room was not available. I later found out that the plumbing issue was a lie. I was also told that they were sold out and had NO room for us! I then asked to speak to the manager. The GM John Jewell was less than helpful. He told me several time that there was nothing he could do. After several minutes on the phone with him and getting more and more upset, he agreed to finally check around and see if he could find anywhere else for us. He called back a few minutes later and said there were NO rooms in town. He said that the best he could do was get us a room at another hotel 45 minutes away. I was very upset at this point and I asked to speak to his boss. He refused to get me in contact with anyone else and repeatedly said that this is the best he could do. Turned out, he also lied about checking with other hotels in the area. We ended up finding a room at the HOLIDAY INN just across the freeway. The staff at HOLIDAY INN were very accommodating and even apologized for our experience at their competitor. We finally got checked in and in our room about midnight no thanks to ANYONE at Marriott!!
