I stay loyal to Marriott but this was very average. Walls had some stains, showers had mildew in the corners. The beds were comfortable but the thermostat in my room did not work and I was hot both nights of my stay. The entrance appears to be remodeled and they had a nice area with free breakfast. Staff was really friendly. Very reasonably priced and didn't have high expectations overall but there needs to be some upgrades to the rooms. read more

I am a Marriott platinum elite. I walked in at 11 pm after arriving at the airport only to be told that the general manager, Gloria Smith, decided to cancel my guaranteed reservation. I then had to walk at midnight a few blocks to a flea bag Ramada inn that did have a room available. Screw you Gloria, I'll never stay at your property again. If you treat your best customers this way, I wonder how occasional customers are treated. read more

Staff were nice, the bedding was clean but our room was overall not kept up. It looked like the room wasn't clean, even though I was told a manager had cleaned it prior. There was a used washcloth, and although we had towels, I had to get clean washcloths at the front desk because our room hadn't been stocked with them. The ground had crumbs everywhere and was sticky in spots, the tissue box was not refilled, and there was a used bottle of Diet Coke in the night stand drawer. As far as the cleanliness of the bathroom, it was good, but needed things fixed. The mirror over light was burnt out, the mirror was cracked and was "fixed" with boxing tape, and the rubber seal for the shower door was torn at the bottom, so water would leak on the floor outside of the shower. If anyone gets room 306, hopefully it will be in a better condition than what I had. read more

Great location, close to the airport. One of the cleanest hotels that we have stayed in this year. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Whenever we left the hotel they always asked if we needed water or anything. Upon returning the staff would always acknowledge us and ask if we needed towels etc. We highly recommend the Fairfield by Marriott in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. read more

Stayed overnight this past weekend. Very new Fairfield Inn. Usual suite of complimentary items for a Fairfield - parking, Wifi, fitness center pool, hot breakfast, microwave oven, & mini-refrigerator. Lot's of outlets for my electronics. Room was on the small side, but it had a bevy of coat hooks to maximize space. Bathroom layout was well thought out and the biggest I remember seeing in a Fairfield! Very enjoyable and reasonable. I would definitely stay here again when my travels bring me back to Cedar Falls! Highly recommend and will repeat! read more

Pros: -Would definitely stay again. Friendly staff, clean room, nice lobby, easy parking, and good hotel. -Nicely lit hotel room. No overhead lighting, but large windows let in good outdoor light and other indoor lights work fine. Bedding is gorgeous. -Room was clean. No complaints there. -Very compact hotel. Built up instead of expansive. This means you can get on the centrally-located elevator and get to your room without too much walking any which way. -Nice, roomy bathroom. No squeezing into this one. More-than-enough room to literally have 12 people just stand in there without touching if you really wanted. :P -By far, the best hotel shower I've ever used. Curtains closed all the way like they're supposed to, water actually got hotter than I could tolerate so I had to turn it down a bit, and it had fantastic pressure behind it. Three people took a shower all one right-after another, and the third person still had an entirely-hot shower. -Right next to a McDonalds or Taco Bell/Pizza Hut. All within one block's walking distance. Very easy to get back onto the highway to easily get around the Cedar Rapids area too. -24/7 fitness room with free weights, mirrors, benches, and treadmill and elliptical. Also includes a pool area with hot tub. Cons: -Pool only goes to 4 feet deep. I enjoy treading walker as my morning workout, and nope, that 4 feet wasn't going to cut it. -Room phone didn't seem to work. Room remote was missing the battery cover. -Complimentary breakfast seems to end early. 9 AM seems a bit too early for me. I'm used to 10 or 10:30. -Some attention needs to be paid to the pool area. The pool and fitness area were entirely out of towels with overfilled used towel bins. As the parking lot was near-empty, it doesn't seem like an overfilled hotel was to blame. It seems like a lack of attention. -Accidentally left some food and beverage in the fridge. Called a couple hours after check-in to see if they might have found it but was told that no food or drink was ever turned into the lost and found and all cleaning staff had already gone home for the day, so I was told that one of them just took it home or tossed it. Since it was mostly alcohol, I'm a bit annoyed. read more

It's a Fairfield. Relatively clean. Hotel staff not friendly or helpful at all. Continental breakfast was supposed to be until 10:00 am, but at 9:30 the staff pretty much called it quits. I managed to snag a bagel , but had to ask for utensils and cream cheese. Two other families were out of luck by 9:40. If we pay for a room and breakfast until 10:00, the hotel should honor that and not make us feel like we're imposing on them to do their jobs. The front desk did not care that we're platinum members when we requested an upgrade. She said the hotel was 100% full, but looking at the empty parking lot, the lack of guests in the lobby, the empty elevators, her statement lacked validity. Oh, why vacuum outside our door at 8:30 am on a Sunday? And if you're going to do that-why not the whole carpet on the floor? read more

Room - We got a standard king room. Not the largest I've ever been in but it did the job. There was no seating other than a computer chair so lazy mornings meant just laying in bed instead of sitting somewhere. TV was your normal sized hotel room TV. Room came with a fridge and a microwave. Bathroom was nice. Fairly large and had a nice walk in shower. Place actually had hot water which is sometimes hard to come by in hotels. Like others have posted, the bed is really firm. Was probably one of the only drawbacks with the room. Pool - Small pool and hot tub. Pool wasn't very deep. Not that I'm looking to high dive or anything. Hot tub was small but on the plus side, it was hot. I love me a super hot hot tub. I could just chill in that for hours. Breakfast - Typical continental breakfast foods for this level of hotel. They had cheese omelets, scrambled eggs, Canadian bacon and sausage. Looks like they supply pastries but by the time I made my way down both mornings they were pretty much picked over. They also had a waffle iron which was very popular both mornings. They also had juice, milk, and coffee. Area - Not really the most hopping area of town. A lot of other hotel chains and fast food restaurants dot the surrounding area. But Cedar Rapids isn't the largest city in the world so getting downtown to the NewBo area is only a five minute drive. And there is also the Westdale Mall area which also has some shopping and chain restaurants. That is also about five minutes away. Only drawback for me with this hotel is that we stayed two nights and nobody came to clean our room after the first night. So I had to go down to the front desk at night and get a bunch of new towels and haul them back up to my room. read more

The hotel was very clean with friendly staff. My favorite was the bathroom, which you will see in the photos. My main problem was the extremely hard bed. Neither my boyfriend nor myself had a good nights sleep, very firm bed. The breakfast in the morning had healthy choices like fresh cut fruit and turkey sausage. read more

I had a great stay! I'm kicking myself for forgetting her name, but the front desk clerk was extremely friendly. I had driven for a long time but she actually put me in a good mood. My stay was unfortunately impacted by issues outside of the hotel's control. A blackout affected the area on the day of my stay - including the gas stations across the street. When it was fixed, apparently the phone lines got crossed - the next morning, my room was flooded with calls asking me if this was the Fairfield Inn & Suites from customers seeking to make a reservation. I walked downstairs and let the front desk know - they said they weren't receiving calls at all this morning and were trying to diagnose the issue. They were extremely apologetic, another sign of great customer service. Rooms were very clean. I would stay here again! Edit: Forgot to add, even the housekeeping staff were diligent in making sure customers were okay during the blackout. That was greatly appreciated and they deserve credit for that. read more

Excellent accommodations! Not sure quite how old this hotel is, but it looks brand new. The lobby area is beautiful and inviting, clean and neat. the staff at the desk was helpful and friendly. There is a nice sized kitchenette/dining area. I didn't try the breakfast, but I did enjoy a cup of complimentary coffee, which hit the spot early in the morning. The room was clean and very nice. Plenty of space with comfy beds. I like having the fridge in there for convenience. Good sized bathroom as well. Great water pressure in the shower, relaxing. We didn't get a chance to swim, but there is a pool. We did have to wash a dirty ball uniform, so we did use the guest laundry services. I was definitely grateful for that convenience! Very happy with our stay, would definitely stay here again. read more

Just checked in, and if I weren't so tired I would walk out. First of all there was nobody at the desk, so as I was trying to figure out the automated room key machine someone came out. They asked for my card even though I checked in online. The other Marriott hotel did not. The pull out bed had no bedding on it so I had to call, then I had to pick it up and make the bed myself. Pretty crappy considered what this room costs. The whole process was so sketchy Im concerned they may try to use my credit card. There are no close eating places either and the snack bar was not well stocked. Eeeew read more

Hotel was clean, bed was comfortable, pillows were fluffy. Service, though, particularly in the morning, was lacking. It was 5am, I tried checking out and there was no one at the front desk. Someone yelled out from the back to leave the keys at the table. Eventually she emerged, and it looked like she had just woken up and was in the process of getting dressed and sorted. I do understand that the graveyard shift is the graveyard shift, but some professionalism would be nice. read more

Great hotel - this is still a very new hotel and everything is up to date. My only complaint is that they are using so much water softener it feels like showering in nuru massage oil. I was in the shower for half an hour thinking that the soap wouldn't come off before I realized that I'm not crazy, their water softener man is crazy. read more

This place was fantastic. The front desk was polite, the lobby and hallways and elevator presented well and the room was modern, comfortable, and immaculate. LOVED the bathroom/shower too. Walked into the hotel - nobody was manning the front desk. After waiting for approx five minutes - someone came out and took care of getting our room key since we checked in via the mobile app. Room was good. Tastefully decorated. However the bed was awful - super stiff. Breakfast was ok. Wished the breakfast was laid out differently...really no flow to it and everything was so cramped in one spot that it was awkward trying to get what you wanted with other guests getting theirs as well. Checkout was a breeze - used the mobile app and away we went. Overall, it was a nice place and would definitely consider it in the future. read more

Stayed the weekend 9/23/2016-9/25/2016. Upon check in we were greeted in a very cold way by a female version of the Grinch or Angela W per her name tag. She worked the entire weekend and wasn't pleasant at all. You'd think the person dispatched for the front desk would have at least a "somewhat" inviting personality. She wore a frown the entire weekend coupled with attitude. The young lady who looked like a college student, Jamie, worked along-side Angela on Saturday evening and Jamie was extremely pleasant and very professional (hats off to Jamie). We had a room with double beds. One bed had someone's hair all over the bed as if it wasn't initially cleaned (pretty gross). The room's wifi was weak. The lobby's wifi was better. The breakfast wasn't bad for this hotel tier. I loved the soft water and the shower pressure. Not sure I will return simply because I did not feel like a valued customer by the front desk clerk (Angela). It felt like I was a burden. To ensure that I wasn't over reacting, I inquired with another family who stayed the same period and they agreed that Angela wasn't pleasant to them either. This was my first negative experience with Marriott. I was disappoint in the Marriott brand after this stay. read more

Rooms were not cleaned and ready at 9 PM. Morgan at the front desk was very rude, verbally abusive and kept walking away to deal with other issues. The other desk clerk, while calm and nice, was new and untrained and unable to help. I have never been treated this poorly at any hotel. Stay somewhere else. read more
