This clean, complete and well-maintained hotel exceeded expectations for the area at any price, but especially at the AARP special rates we found. Amenities and kind gracious treatment from all staff are noteworthy. Not perfect, as the eggs seemed leftover for days and the coffee half strength at breakfast; we ate out half our days there despite the bargain of its inclusion. Queen beds are the norm, with a slightly higher rate for kings. Also sorry the extensive free gym/sauna/spa will close next year, though. Missed having new editions of The Gazette the last few days, as it stopped on Monday. Still nice to have a print newspaper in this day and age! PLEASE retire the brown, wrinkled fruit and empty stale coffee carafes in the front lobby. We've stayed before, and were grateful to see the standards hadn't slipped in the 7 years since!

Micro is right. My room is so small I have to go out in the corridor to change a quarter. There's a…read moremicro flat screen television, a micro desk and a micro wave oven. There's also a tall, dormitory style refrigerator and there is a hair dryer, but there is no in-room coffee maker. :( Even though the room is tiny, it is comfortable. The bed is firm (someone said "rock hard" which I call "firm" and that's fine with me in a hotel.) Lighting is a bit strange, there are ceiling cans over the micro desk and the window bench, complete with curly-fries light bulbs. The only other light is a florescent fixture above the head of the bed, like in a hospital. It has about the same lumens as the sign out front, not exactly a night light for reading while your partner is trying to sleep. (Luckily, I was alone.) The window bench is a nice touch. There is new carpeting in the corridor and the property appears to have recently gone through a refresh. All in all, the place offers a fine value for the rate charged. This isn't my first time at this property and it probably isn't my last, either. It's fine for what it is - a stopover when traveling.

The hotel is clean, welcoming, and has great spaces for families to gather. The rooms are on the smaller side for a family of four, but they're thoughtfully designed and very functional. What really sets this place apart is the staff. Every team member we met was warm, genuine, and clearly committed to making guests feel taken care of. They handled our large group of energetic hockey players with incredible patience and professionalism--encouraging them to have fun, but also kindly guiding them to be respectful of other guests. Not once did anyone make us feel like a burden. A+ hospitality. We're already looking forward to staying here again.

The downfalls of the hotel is the cleanliness; the floors, sinks, elevator, everything you can tell haven't been cleaned for who knows how long. In our bathroom the hooks which I'm guessing are for towels are missing, the vanity hasn't been wiped down, and something as simple as the track of the closet could be vacuumed. We have a small child and I wasn't comfortable letting them crawl around in our room. In the kitchenette, the garbage disposal and under the sink smelled horrible, the dining room table had what looked like dust on it but not too sure, the dishwasher was running when we came which was fine. We are staying here a couple more times for a hockey tournament and I'm really hoping our rooms are cleaned better.

There were two youth hockey teams staying there, so the set up a conference room for the kids to play knee hockey in. This was great for the kids and kept them from running the halls. The room we had was very nice. It was nice for relaxing in between games. The staff allowed the parents from both hockey clubs to gather in the breakfast area each night. It was very nice of them since the parents were pretty load when the St Louis Blues versus the Dallas Stars game was on tv. The hotel's breakfast was to be expected. I had their oatmeal and coffee. The robust coffee was very good and the woman working the dinning area was very nice. If I find myself in Grand Rapids again I would definitely stay here again. The room was very nice, plenty of hot water, and good staff.

Although I would hope they would clean the poop for a $75 pet fee. So disappointing these hotels let us bring our pets and some people don't bother cleaning after their pets. It's so rude to the next dog owner. And to the establishment. I would raise the fee too. But then I would clean up after irresponsible dog owners so the next people don't have to risk stepping in it. Other than that it was the perfect stay. They really make you feel at home.

The HVAC was refreshingly quiet. The hotel lobby has a piped in fragrance that immediately puts you at ease. They have a pool, full service restaurant and a bar. The only thing that was describing was the shower water pressure. It was so bad if I had decided to wash my hair I would not ever have gotten the shampoo out of it. It hurt my heart because everything else was so good and then the final thing we do was epically bad. Hopefully there is a way to fix it for their sake. I did tell them at the front desk as we checked out but it didn't seem to register with the person I told.
