This Fairfield hotel in Jasper, Indiana is pleasant, pretty clean, and generally well maintained. The "king suite" room that I got was definitely smaller than what I would expect for something being marketed as a "suite", but include a mini fridge and microwave, which may have been what made the distinction, and what I was looking after anyway. It seems like it was updated within the last couple of years, with a nice, comfortable bed, and furnishings mostly in good condition. On my criticisms, I am *really* nitpicking here: The only downside, which I noted was mentioned in another review from a few months ago was that cleanliness could've been a tiny bit better. Nothing that gave me the "ick" but the shower definitely needed to have the caulking stripped out and replaced because there was some mildew under it, in spite of it appearing to have been cleaned pretty well otherwise with no water spots and everything wiped down aside from a few tiny spots in corners. The air conditioner was also a bit noisier than it should've been, with a slightly slow sink. To summarize: felt pretty darn, clean and well-maintained, but fell just short of being "five stars" at this price level. My room had a absolutely gorgeous view of the river, and the hotel itself is located within a few minutes of the town center, and a number of restaurants here and within 15 minutes at the next town over. read more

Had a nice stay here in the spring time when I was in town for a wedding reception across the street. Plenty of places to walk to around the hotel and we had a great time exploring the area. The parking was confusing for us and we ended up parking further away, only later finding the correct parking lot when walking around. The rooms were clean and the only issue we came across was the lack of USB charging ports. There weren't any plugs at the nightstand at least. Oh and breakfast was great! Lot of options. Definitely would stay again though if I was in the area. read more

House keeping was non- existent. We had to go to the front desk four times for items that we needed in the room and we were told that we could not get our house keeping in the room. we had to go to the front desk to get trash bags and a towel and more coffee because they forgot we called and requested it. It was a very big weekend for their German fest, and they were very poorly staffed. I did witness four staff sitting outside and smoking each day. It is in no way a "suite" with a king size bed it's a room with no inner door to separate the space. There's a bed, there's a couch and there are two television sets which compete with each other when you're trying to turn one on and turn the other off. There's a hvac window unit that squeaked all night. Definitely not the Marriot experience. And then there's the sulfur smell. Like sewage. read more

Came here last year and it felt waaaay cleaner. This time I just felt like the whole room wasn't right. All the USB plugs that are in the wall under the tv didn't work, and none of the bedside lamps have USB ports. The alarm clock has 2, and thankfully one worked. It's my own fault, I just assume all these hotel have something to plug cords into now, which this one does, they just don't work. I have the Bonvoy app and have used it multiple times (travel a lot for work) and the hotel staff are always quick to get back when you use the chat feature, but I messaged the staff about this and no one responded all evening. Then, the bathroom. Our shower was gross. Whoever recaulked the shower did a very novice job and it's all nasty and discoloring already. Whoever tried cleaning it did a pitiful job. Then when I was getting ready for bed, washing my face, I could hear someone above me showering, and what literally sounded like pipes clanging overhead. Just seemed very, very weird. The area around the hotel is very pretty with lots of restaurants past the town square, and the common areas of the hotel seem very nice, like the communal area and the gym. Might be forced to stay here a third time if we come back to Holiday World but I won't be looking forward to it. Update: I wrote this on our first night- next morning I realized our gross shower described above also had no body wash in it, bottle was completely empty. Went down to breakfast to find everything empty- cooler with milk empty, no bread, no cereal, no spoons. All they had was the breakfast slop I pictured. Oh yah, and when I came down for that, that's when I realized our door didn't latch when we closed it. Which means anyone can come and go as they please. To get it to latch you have to put all of your body weight into the handle and pull the whole door UP. I mean, I become more and more flabbergasted by this place. My husband just came out and announced there were no hand towels in the bathroom by the breakfast room. The place is a clown show but it's not funny. read more

I stayed one night here and this is a lovely newer hotel. My standard king room was very spacious. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There was an in-room Keurig, which I love. I always wish there was a better creamer selection, but I survived. The bathroom is large and the shower was a huge walk-in. They had shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel in the shower - which is a nice way to reduce millions of lil plastic bottles. The TV was big and had a lot of TV and streaming options. The AC kept my room as cool as I wanted. It was a lil noisy and I sleep with ear plugs in. However, the hotel itself was very quiet. There was a very musty odor in my room. Maybe the AC leaked and it wasn't properly dried and ventilated? I don't know. I sprayed my perfume and it got a lil better or I just got used to it. The gym is entirely glass and very visible from the elevators. There's simply no way I'd use it for this reason. That's a pretty private thing for me and I'm uncomfortable enough about the people inside the gym, let alone every single hotel guest walking by. This is a great hotel for those going to Holiday World. There is a lot of neat little shops in Santa Claus, Indiana. Rooms have a great view of the river. There are tables with umbrellas outside to enjoy the river view. We also walked the bridge over the river. Was a nice stroll. The hotel is clean. Traveled to Jasper for work this week, and stayed at the Fairfield. Holy smokes- this is the nicest Fairfield I've stayed in. So clean, so fresh! Rooms were very nice, decor was clean and modern. The lobby is really nice, and being next to the bridge and river was lovely. I used the gym in the morning, and it was super clean. Breakfast was delish, and there were lots of options from bagels to oatmeal to waffles to eggs. I will be staying here on all future visits to Jasper! read more

Hotel The Fairfield Inn, a Marriott property is on the fairly new side of things and it is definitely a nice place to lay your head. Check-in went smoothly and the evening manager was just outstanding with helpfulness and got me situated and on my way in short order. Two elevators were available and move between floors quickly and quietly Room was just large enough, with a comfy king bed and a well lit bathroom. The heating unit worked well (it was freezing out) and the hot water in the shower can get to be too hot. In-room refrigerator, large flat screen TV and keurig coffee pot rounded out the amenities. While at the hotel you can take advantage of the small exercise room and there is a free breakfast available in the morning. Overall the breakfast was decent, not spectacular, but for free, it got the job done. There are no other food options after the breakfast hours, so you will have to hit the town for other meal options or happy hours etc. Plenty of parking available in front and off to the side. Definitely a nice place to stay if in Jasper. read more

During the course of my two-week business trip, I moved to this hotel from another hotel, which I had previously been in and found to be unsatisfactory. The cleanliness of the breakfast buffet was maintained, and they made sure there was always enough food available. In comparison, their breakfast buffet was noticeably superior. The staff at the front desk were attentive. On the housekeeping side, I did run across a problem with the cleanliness. In spite of the fact that I requested that someone clean my room, over the entire week that I was there, my room was only partially cleaned one day. They would take my towels but not replace them, there would be no toilet paper, and the floors would not be swept or mopped. The bed sheets were only pulled over the top of the bed. It is unfortunate that there are so few hotels available to choose from other than this one that provides customer service of this caliber. read more

So, this is the first time I am leaving a yelp review because of the experience at this hotel. It's important to note that I stay at hotels on a weekly basis for my job. The two stars is because it was a very clean and new looking hotel. We had to stay for work for 9 days. I took my kids with me on my business trip knowing its a cute town with holiday world park. However every single day was some bizarre new problem and very poor treatment from the front desk staff. The customer service was by far some of the worst I have ever experienced. It was so frustrating and took so much away from our entire trip. When I checked in to the hotel Stephanie at the front desk CHARGED ME FOR THE ENTIRE STAY WHEN SHE SAID IT WAS JUST A $20 INCIDENTAL. I stay at hotels every single week in my career. I always ask several times what they are charging and make sure it is just incidentals if the room is already paid for or my client is doing direct bill. After Stephanie was very flippant to my sister who also stayed at the hotel a few days to see us as she lived a few hours away and made multiple mistakes on her booking as well. She then charged my card almost $1,500 for the entire stay even though it was direct bill to my client very clearly on the reservation and even though she guaranteed me it was only going to be charged $20 for the incidentals. This put multiple bill payments I had in jeopardy as I gave her my card that was connected to my bills I pay for my business. I was working over 30 minutes away from the hotel in Santa Claus Indiana when my wife and I realized our card was wrongly charged so we proceeded to call the hotel. The lines were busy. For two hours we called the hotel trying to get through. Finally I decided to drive the 30 minutes back to the hotel to speak to someone since they clearly were not picking up their phones. When I got there I showed the man at the front desk by calling that the phones were busy as he tried to tell me they weren't busy. We also called from my wife's phone. My sister also tried to call and we clearly showed from three phones their phones were busy. We looked at the counter to see the phone sitting off the hook. This is not a joke. The phone was off the hook. He then proceeded to explain they have multiple phones and hung the phone back on the hook and tried to save face. At this point I asked to speak to the manager and he gave me her number. I called her cell phone number and she immediately tried to rectify the siutation by calling my client whom was supposed to be direct billed for the stay to get his card approved and refunded my card. It took one week for that money to hit my account from the bank and have my account be back to good standing on a card they had assured me would only get a $20 incidental hold after they incorrectly charged almost $1,500 for the 9 day stay. The manager Danielle was helpful with this over the phone. To her credit she DID take care of this. It didn't change the fact that the money stayed out of my account. That my monthly payment for my office rental bounced back due to this card being charged. Or that I had to move money from my personal savings to fix it as they charged so much After this incident every day there was some new issue. From no service in my room after asking for trash to be removed or at the very least new towels they spoke to both my 10 year old my wife and myself as if we were giant inconveniences. To talking down to my 10 year old about his asking for a bottle of water and to put it on our room only to be told no because he's a child and when he asked to call the room and check with his dad he was told blatantly NO. Breakfast missing things from cutlery, to fruit and coffee to plates and waffle mix. Some of the craziest parts where calling to explain my room hadn't been cleaned in 3 days only to be told point blank "Sir I know for a fact your room was serviced yesterday." To where I explained they supplied towels yesterday however did not service the room itself in over 3 days and I have been making my own beds and finding trash cans myself to dispose our trash bags from our own trash cans. Only to be talked down to by the front desk attendant over the room phone and literally yelled at. No clue why Overall I believe what happened at this stay is from the moment of checking in and Stephanie at the front desk charging my card for the entire stay for a tremendous amount of money after she guaranteed it was only being charge $20 incidentals. It was such a problem that I was very frustrated so they decided I was a complainer. Also anytime we asked for room to be cleaned or a new room key they treated myself and my family as if we were inconveniences because of the initial issues. When in reality they should have been beyond accomodating and understanding given the first issue then the mountain of issues that continued throughout our nine day stay. 5 stars all the way around. Parking is easy. Friendly people, plenty of places to eat near by and even a pool. The breakfast is delicious and you can eat on the patio that sits right on the river. While we were waiting to board our train, we were looking for a place for lunch and a drink. The desk clerk gave us awrvral great recommendations. Modern hotel with basic amenities. Parking: the parking lot is located on the other side of the trolley tracks. Minimal parking signage to navigate where guests are allowed to park. The parking lot sign said for "members only" so that's confusing. There are a few handicapped spots by the front doors to the hotel. This hotel has both unethical and frankly unsafe practices. They will give your room away if they can rebook others at a higher rate, even if you show up in person for your stay with small children in tow. The manager, Chelsea, will show no remorse. We booked connecting rooms six months in advance on April 20,2024. They said they would be able to do it but to call back closer to make it official. So two months in advance of our reservation we called back to reconfirm on August 5, 2024. We were ensured we were confirmed, connecting rooms was noted on the reservations, and we also had pack n plays reserved. Fast forward to today, now technically yesterday as I write this at 1am while driving to new lodging, we arrive with our 1 year old and 2 year old at 11pm at night after a long day of travel, and they refused us the rooms we reserved. Their suggestion was to have two toddlers stay in a separate room from us (parents)... ummm I have no words for this. The kicker was that they actually had connecting rooms available tonight and REFUSED to put us in it bc our reservation overlapped a weekend wedding several days away. I asked what about our reservation that we made first, and confirmed first, 6 months ago, and I even showed record of the various phone calls to their direct line when I had called to confirm connecting rooms. All we could gather was that our rate was much cheaper than the wedding block rates so we were being kicked out and there was nothing we could do about it. Ultimately we were left high and dry at midnight in the middle of nowhere with an infant and a toddler. Chelsea the manager said they absolutely would not honor the reservation and that we could either sleep in a separate room from our kids or we could cancel but under no circumstances could we use the empty connecting rooms just sitting there. Why?! This woman had never met us, and this was all being done over the phone. We cancelled (obviously). So to recap, this hotel has both unethical and frankly unsafe practices. read more

Easily booked our room on my phone, had an option to select time of check-in arrival, and since it's me, I knew I should select a later time, which was not an issue. We arrived late, which once again wasn't a problem -the hotel is nicely lit, a clean & a pretty lobby. The lovely lady at the desk, warmly greeted us and asked if for business or pleasure or otherwise- I let her know my boyfriend was having surgery early the next morning. She had also been to this medical clinic and was super helpful and informative. She gave us directions, hotel info, and fun things to do. Our room was a nice size, clean, no smell, nice ac/heat. Pretty window blind . Clean & comfy bed & bedding. The shower was bigger than the average hotel shower which was really nice. They have HUGE tv's in the room, with streaming options, and can purchase in-house movies. I wanted to put our ice packs into a cooler but needed ice. I asked her where the ice was as lugging my cooler (I was not going to fill it all the way up) and she said " oh here let me help!" And then proceeded to scoop ice and lift a heavy cooler, even put it on a cart and wheeled it to our room. Very friendly in the morning, wished us luck and thanked us for our stay. Nice enough hotel, new clean and quiet, workers were friendly. Nice view of the river, waterfall and bridge. All TVs in common areas were on Fox News 24/7 spewing their typical falsities and brainwashing manipulative stupidity. Not a good welcome to visitors from places where people have free, rational thought. This decision by management instantly reads as "I'm with stupid". Also the rooms all smell like the river- which didn't bother me so much but others in my group mentioned it several times. read more

Pros: the front deck staff was so accommodating and friendly. Caitlin helped check my group in and was very hospitable. The hotel is brand new so it's very clean. It was also quiet and overlooks the water which was nice. The rooms are spacious and decorated pleasantly. The bed sheets are not very soft. That's really my only complaint.
