We stay at all Marriott hotels ball the time, this had to be the worst of the worst. I understand they went through a hurricane last year but please I was on the second floor. The money I paid for this room I could of stayed at the Golden Nugget casino with a balcony room overlooking the pool. This room was probably only worth $50 even at that. The room had lamented floors and the room was so humid. When I went to lay down the pillows and sheets felt like they were wet. I couldn't sleep most of the night because the room was so humid. It looked like a room you would find is a cheap motel. I am truly upset with Marriott. I'll make sure they know this also. I will never stay at this hotel again. Maybe I need to stay in something other than Marriott. I have lost all respect for them. I had to give 1 star I really would of left no stars but you have to give something. Could not believe this place. The elevator looks like it came from the 1950,s the hallways had torn carpet and it looked shabby and old. Stay away from this place, go on down to the next town you may find a better hotel. I will definitely let Marriott know something. In my opinion they owe me money for have to put up with this place.

    The super-comfy bed

This is beautiful hotel; I was pleasantly surprised! Earlier this year, it had been completely renovated. It's one second off I-10, on what seems to be a main road. But, it sits back far with a lot of trees so you don't hear any street noise. There are a couple restaurants and stuff around, specifically a Pizza Hut within walking distance. The best part of this hotel is its staff. The girl who checked me in, Jacqueline, was very welcoming. The young lady in the breakfast room, Summer, was also delightful. I don't believe I have ever stayed in a place with such a nice staff. Employees such as this are an asset to the Marriott Corporation. My room was very big with a comfy king sized bed. There was a frig, microwave, and work desk. There was free wi-fi, an indoor pool (which I never use) and a gym (which I really never use). I found my room super clean and fresh; the bed was soooo inviting! (Look at the photo of the bed, you'll see what I mean - I liked this type of bedding.) On my Marriott profile, I have a special request listed, which was granted - I appreciate that. Very good (free) breakfast in the mornings. All the standard good eats; bagels, muffins, waffles, hard-boiled eggs, and some microwave-type sandwiches. This breakfast was better than most, and, again, the girl working in the breakfast area was wonderful. Besides being so nice, she always keep the place well-stocked and clean. Oh, and there is a dehumidifier in the room. It makes a humming sound, which didn't bother me, and you can always turn it off. During my stay, the humidity was 100% in Louisiana, so I WELCOMED that humidifier. I was torn between staying here and Lafayette - I am so glad I chose here - I would stay here again.

    Dehumidifier circa 1990?

This hotel is not awesome. Normally, east of California most Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott are descent. This one is a page out of 1987 before all of the smaller hotels began to upgrade. Let's start with the staff, very pleasant and helpful (except one team member who worked at the the front desk, appeared not to like her job). The one exception did not greet us when we returned and frankly, didn't speak at all. Next, are the facilities. The beds were very firm (almost too firm) but lacked coverings. You were giving one fitted sheet (which was not put fully on the bed), one flat sheet, a paper thin comforter and a duvet type cover. I was chilly throughout the evening but didn't feel comfortable asking for more. The furniture was worn as per my pictures and dirty. The drawers in the dresser kept opening every time someone walked across the room. There is also a dehumidifier from circa 1990 and is terribly loud and funky smelling when turned on. Lastly, was the cleanliness or lack there of. As a traveler, there is certain level of dust and dirt that I expect to see, however, this place almost called for an exit. There was visible dust on the walls and furniture and the shower looked uncleaned. Needless to say, this facility needs new management or a cleaning service. If you have a choice stay somewhere else. Choice or not, DON'T stay here!!

No, it's not normal for coastal Louisiana.

It turned out to be a real suite. A "suite" in most hotels just means the one room is a little larger. Here the main room was as big as a usual hotel room. The bedroom was actually in an entirely separate room (with a door) from the sitting/desk/front room. There was a TV in each room. It was almost too much spaciousness for just little ol' me! The sheets and towels were clean and fresh. The A/C was noisy but it worked very well. They only replace the towels every third day, or if you ask specifically for some. The whole hotel was clean and fresh. The lobby and hallways were well kept. The staff were friendly and cheerful. The breakfast area was spotless. When I ate in there, the staff were obviously taking great pride in the service and the food. The breakfast fare was the usual stuff you find in every hotel. The coffee was decent. Thumbs up to the ladies on the breakfast staff! I haven't stayed at a BW hotel in years, but after this trip I will consider them more often. This particular hotel has become my first consideration whenever I come back here. Thanks!

We found this hotel and stopped in on a whim. I know Lake Charles is a casino destination, but I didn't expect a hotel outside of those to be so nice. The room was clean enough, though I did find a tiny potential blood stain on the bedding that I know wasn't from me. The staff is really friendly, especially late at night which was unexpected because in my previous experiences graveyard shift workers aren't typically the kindest. The sweet older woman working breakfast on Sunday morning was a champ. She was consistently asking "What do you need baby?". She kept everything refilled and met every request that was made. The breakfast was really good too! They have a fancy coffee machine that makes lattes and can do shots of espresso. Perfect for fueling up before heading home or to your next destination. They had a sign at the front explaining their current construction being done. It listed all the plans they have for bettering their hotel. It was some really cool stuff from the sound of it like expanding the breakfast area and adding a movie room. If I ever found myself in this area again needing to spend the night, I wouldn't hesitate to return to this hotel.

Room smelled like someone forgot a gym bag in the vents. Checked the AC, black mold, straight up, like it was trying to start its own ecosystem. Then the college basketball team rolled in. Twenty guys, all jacked up, treating the hallway like their personal track. Footsteps overhead so heavy I swear the ceiling was vibrating. Weed smoke slid under my door thick as fog, by 12:30 I was basically secondhand high and stuck there because the window doesn't even open. Called the desk. "We'll call the coach," she said. Yeah, because nothing kills a midnight party faster than a bald dude in flip-flops mumbling "boys, bedtime." They kept going: laughing, coughing, probably doing jumping jacks right above my head while I lay there breathing it all in. If you're not into waking up smelling like a dispensary and coughing like a pack-a-day smoker, skip this place. I'd take a Motel 6 with bedbugs over this circus. One star. The place sucks.

My room was clean my towels and linens were fresh bright and not discolored. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. The hotel has a full operating restaurant on its main floor. That's open from 6 AM to 10 PM. And the food was good. There is many things listed on its menu for breakfast lunch and dinner. There was construction going on in this parking lot so that took away from a few of the parking spaces. And I did find a cleaning rag left in my bathroom. Other than that I had a pleasant experience here.

The hotel appears to be 2 to 3 years old, everything is brand-new. We really enjoyed the size of our room and the bathroom as well. We are avid travelers so if the hotel isn't on point it tends to sour the trip overall. They had a nice dining area and the gym was nice and had everything you need to get a good workout in, although I believe the elliptical was out of order. The big issue we had with this hotel is the fact that when we forgot our Room key and I came down to the lobby to tell them I needed a replacement key and there was a young lady(I wont say her name but she was younger) there and all she asked for was our room number and she gave me another key. That was a big security issue for me because I asked her afterward if she wanted to see my ID and she casually said "no it's ok". I could've been any random person off the street and been able to get into a complete strangers room. It would be different if she actually checked us in upon arrival remembered my face which was not the case. That's the only reason this hotel didn't get 5 stars. Hopefully they re-train her because off that lackadaisical response alone I ended up keeping my iPad by my side the whole time. I want to however give kudos to a gentleman at the front desk. I believe his name was Broderick or Roderick. The guy was stellar and accommodating with all of our request. It was my birthday weekend and he helped to make our stay über-comfortable.
